  • I am from California and just ended a 3 week vacation to New Zealand. My last night (3-10) was spent in Rotorua where by chance it was the same night as the Rotorua Lakeside 2012 Concert was held. My wife and I had no idea what it was about. We decided to attend. Hinewehi Mohi was introduced and she performed Kotahitanga. I immediately recognized it but don't know why. Her performance was electrifying. It is all I thought about for the next two days and still am thinking about it.

(sorry for my long response lol :D)

    The Haka (chant of pride)

"On peoples lips is the bravery

    (of our warriors)

Exciting the passions of our people

The power, the fear, the awe!

    Ohhh, Yeahhh!

    "Be inspired, inspired, inspired...."

    THE END :D xxx

  • The first verse is:

"The pride of the people is almost gone

People will not survive in this world"

    Second verse:

"We must maintain solidarity and union

    to achieve our goals"

    "Freedom, justice, peace"

  • This song is in Maori, the native language of New Zealand. The english translation of the song in the beginning is:

    "Be inspired, inspired, inspired

    Be inspired, inspired, inspired

    In union..

    Be inspired, inspired, inspired

    ....we have strength"
