This is sung in the seventh inning stretch of every major league game, right? That's, what. way over 100,000 games, maybe close to 200,000 in the history of the game? Not to mention minor league games, I assume many of those also have the tradition. So it really lost its charm decades ago, right? WRONG! One of the greatest little songs ever written, and it gives me chills every time I sing it, or hear it sung by a crowd like this one.
@PsychoKrusty Dude that's great you love baseball but please tell me you did not just chose the Yankees because they have the most World Series victories.
@PsychoKrusty Okay if you are a die hard I can respect that no matter what team you go for even if it was the cubs (but then I would personally hate you but I can respect it).
I see Ernie Hays retired after 40 years of being behind the organ for the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals sure gave him a grand sendoff before one of their games at Bush Stadium. I'm glad that the Cardinals have kept the organ as part of the music at Busch. Aren't the organist duties being shared by two or three men who were all understudies/students of Ernie Hays?
awesome..had a discussion with my friends, some had the opinion american sports fans wouldnt rly sing at their sportevents, not like the european soccerfans. that vid makes the point, u americans can sing as well...greetings from germany
im 14 and i have been to all the stadiums after 1996 i even saw the expos play in montral and i have been to 1000 baseball game already i have been to the final game in yankee stadu
@calcium4lyf That's the problem with Europeans, they always forget they're only playing games... Anyway, it's just funny to hear all these people signing the song together. enjoy.
@sebrickhouse16 Hate to say it, but NOBODY will ever sing it better than Cubs fans when Harry Carey was still around. I'm not saying that as a biased Cubs fan (I love my Blue Jays), I'm saying that as a baseball fan

This is not OLD Busch Stadium. The old Busch Stadium was on Grand Avenue. I remember watching Stan Musial while sitting in its bleachers.
(Yes, that stadium wasn't originally Busch Stadium. But, it was called that at the end.)

This is the greatest tradition in all of American sport.

spikez718 3 years ago 5
You're half right - my Phillies rule the NL this year!
Unfortunately, they couldn't stop the "Damn Yankees" in the 2009 World Series and successfully defend their title.
I do have to give your Cards props, though - they won the NL Central crown for 2009 - I wanted to see them face my Phillies in the NLCS.
