I mean, you know what a hotrod is, right? You know what guys did to these things even back in the 30's? If you want to see a pure stock version of this car go to a museum or car show or something. This is a hotrod.

There are a couple companies that make adaptor plates to put Ford valve covers on a small block Chevy.I seen this 1930 Ford at Novi,Mi a couple years ago with Ford valve cover on the small block Chevy at a RM classic car auction,the shop that built this car made the adaptor plates.The guy selling it even said for a reason,so the Ford guys don't get pissed off.I hate Ford with a deep passion,their engineers are idiots doing everything the hard way.Fords are a PITA to work on.

Ford tough with Chevy stuff.Can get anything for a Chevy,cheaper to build and parts interchange on a Chevy.Ford is another story,not much for interchange and more to build.Plus a little harder to get parts for.

@wafrederick ford tuff with chevy stuff??..really?..it may shock you , but that beloved small block chevy was actually , designed, engineered , and built by ford ..and sold to chevy in the early 1950's..and it isnt the 1970's anymore..ford parts are easy to come by ..if you think about it..fords are second cheapest motors to do ..try building a Pontiac or olds , buick or cadillac for cheap coin..or mopar..fords arent all that much more today to do

@wafrederick alot of parts change in a ford...chevy just had 2 basic motors..small and big block ,,thats it..at least with ford you had a huge choice on what you wanted to built ...chevy guys dont get this...i dont know what planet you live on ..but ford stuff is real easy to come by ..and to buy a ford big block is so cheap compared to a 396/427/454 ..i see alot of chevy guys spend big bucks just to buy a used chevy ..and a ford bb can go to 700hp on a stock bottom end without puking

@390merc65 That is BS!Ford engines are twice the money to build.Chevy parts are much more easier to get.Ford has one year interchange on most parts and transmissions are this way.Chevys have better stronger bottom end.Most parts stores ask if the vehicle is an automatic or manual transmission getting a Ford starter.Ford starters are differant for auto and manual transmissions.Chevy,no questions asked when getting a starter.Go look through a Summit and Jegs catalog,the Chevy parts are cheap

@wafrederick they are more but not twice as much..funny..i have done work to old y blocks and parts can be had for them ..even the flathead is still popular and out of production for 56 years but look around and you still can buy parts ..you are full of shit with ford having one year interchange,,who ever told you that ?.must of been another chevy guy ..you can take a 4bbl and intake off a 63 289 and bolt it right on to a 95 302 that was fuel injected or a 351m dist, and put it a 460

@390merc65 Looked up in an interchange called a Hollander.For example, a transmission out of a 1997 F150 truck is 1997 only.Ford changed the electronics.Have been asked everytime when getting a starter for a Ford this question: Automatic or Manual transmission?The nose of the starter is a differant length.I have seen a 1930 Ford with a 350 Chevy using Ford valve covers.Most will say BS on this.There were adaptor plates made for the Ford valve covers to bolt to the Chevy.

@wafrederick i know what you mean , but not every year ford since 1903 has changed shit from year to year...see,,this is the problem...you have a chevy guy working on a ford ..once a chevy guy is out of the box..he is lost ...ford starter's are real simple..most starters are the same only 2 major difference's//1 being the nose cone and 2 being either a 9 or 10 tooth bendix..i have put together tons of ford starter's from parts and also for jeeps as well ..my old 72 ford had a jeep stater on it

Respond to this video...well if there is an adaptor for valve covers i have never seen them ,,spacer's yes..adaptors for using another valve cover no ..and maybe someone seen a y block in a old ford and just assumed it was a sbc..if you see a 32 ford with a sbc in it ..and another with a y block ..ppl cant tell the difference from a few feet away .

and just assumed it is a sbc,,both sbc and y block look alot alike ..and more so if it has header's on it

Respond to this video...see..you guys dont know what go's were on a ford...sure they have a variety of different engine family's, but as long as you swap parts like one FE to another it all works ,,or 429/460...260/351....of coarse you cant take any part of a y block and use it on a 429/460.but thats like using 348/409 parts on a 396/427/454/...i still dont get how chevy parts are easier to get..i can buy heads for any ford just like a chevy or other parts

Respond to this video...ans yes ford motors are more to build then a chevy...but they are second cheapest if you look at other GM motors ..go built a 455 buick or old's ,,or pontiac...they are more money then a ford big block ..my buddies 66 gto was a389 was alot more money to build then my old 390 i did at the time..for what he spent just in valves for the poncho..i had that ,,and money for a full felpro gasket kit and a oil pump..

I've seen a lot of questions as to why people put chevy engines in Fords. Well here is a history lesson. Think back to the American Grafitti days. Ford was still producing Flat Heads while Chevy was producing the overhead valve engine, as we know it today. Overhead valve engine blew away the Flat Heads so the Hot Rodders put Chevys in their cars, no matter what the make of car. Class over.

@killingtime2night no its because the chevys became the cheapest, at first the flatheads were the cheapest, but as time went on people discovered the tons upon tons of chevy engines in junkyards that were cheap. Also, Flatheads are still cooler

@killingtime2night ahh.you might want to recheck your history ,,chevy was on of the last car company's to build a ohv v8 ..i know that hurts but it is true,,,i think ford built its first ohv was 1951 for the truck...and car production with ohv was 1954..isnt that 1 year before chevy even came out with a v8 at all?..i think caddy and old both had ohv v8's in 1949..long before chevy ..

@killingtime2night you have to realize a stock ford flathead is only 239 c.i.to the new at the time..chevy 265 so of coarse chevy had the advantage , but in 57 chevy only had the 283 with 283 hp..ford had the 312 and you could get it with 340 hp ,,,,but you are mistaken ...i am not sure about chrysler , but i think all car company's had ohv engines in 55..including packard ..Studebaker i am not sure about ..and ford was the only 1 to achieve 400 hp in the 1950's out of all car company's

It has a small muffler built into the exhaust pipes after the exhaust manifold. But it doesn't make it very quiet. You're right, it is VERY LOUD! When he fired it up while I was filming, I could literally feel the soundwaves. I don't know if you've felt that before or not, but it was COOL!

i would have saved a week or two and put in either a ford flat head v8 or to save even more time a nice late 60's to 71 ford 302, with a nice little AOD or a 4 speed manual, whatever floats your boat, but this just devalued the car, i would have rather ran the original engine from this 32 regarless if it was a straight flathead 6! or 4! i hate chebby shit in fords, keep it in a 32 chebby oh ya i forgot there is like only 4 that still exist! lol, ford rulez chebby druelz get a ford v8 or leave it
