  • Hoopla!

  • Shelley Duvall was born to play that role LOL.

  • 1:17 mcfly?

  • @linoleumbreathmint What do you mean?

  • @justin76pa haha he just looks like long thin man from charlies angels.

  • @linoleumbreathmint I don't think he looks anything like Crispin Glover.

  • Well Robin may regard this as one of his worst films but I'll take 10 viewings of this over 1 of RV.

  • "Oh I'm so sorry, where do I send the flowers?" awesome.

  • butterbean

  • "You no *BUSK* him, he **KILL YOU!!**"

  • ooooh you poor fatherless baby LOL!

  • @ASirensLullaby LOL, there were so many good lines in this movie.

  • You're gonna eat spinach! And you're gonna crap Thunder!

  • The Pipe Gag never fails to make me smile.

  • Popeye vs. King Kong Bundy.

  • Classic movie. If you have it on DVD you should upload it. I would love to watch it again.

  • @jamends1220 Glad you like it, but get 5 bucks and buy it so you can see it whenever you like and show your gratitude to this underrated director.

  • @justin76pa Seriously? That's how cheap it is now? I'll have to look it up on Amazon. Thank you.

  • @jamends1220 Btw, uploading the whole movie is illegal.

  • where do i send the flowers??? lol

  • I always thought that that was cool when his spinned around like that. Also the finishing punch was/is cool.

  • 2:45 best part

  • who's the guy at 1:00-1:04?

    shaking his hat

  • @FireCheepCheep He's the guy that got thrown through the floor in the diner fight scene.

  • @justin76pa

I meant who is the guy playing him.

because you see him several times throughout the movie.

  • @FireCheepCheep I'm glad you asked, cause I looked him up. Turns out to be an actor I've seen many times before in several movies. Sadly, he passed away this year: Wayne Robson.

  • @justin76pa Isnt that the charecter in the popeye cartoons who's always eating burgers?

  • @JADEGOODYSCORPSE No, you're thinking of Wimpy.

  • @justin76pa Ohhh sorry, i didnt realise he said the one shaking his hat, i thought he meant the referee which is wimpy played by paul dooley.

  • Robin Williams as popeye. He is a riot.

  • This reminds me of a harlem globetrotter basketball game. hehe

  • "im a mother myself" XD

  • Robert Altman was a genius.

  • Before The Mask there was Popeye!

  • 2;50 the best part of the video

  • What impressive forearms!

  • hold down 2 its better that way or hold down 9 either is fine...

  • knock out !!

  • The most fun scene of the movie.

  • When I was 5 this was in the theaters and I asked to watch it for my b-day.

At 36 I can still do the drop back somersault roll. lol

  • i would have beg Robin Williams to do a followup to this movie. If i had the pleasure of knowing him that is. Very good storyline with Popeye. ty 4 this post

  • @potheticman Funny thing is, Williams regards this as one of his worst movies. I think it's fantastic.

  • i would beg Robin Williams to do a followup to this movie. If i had the pleasure of knowing him that is. Very good storyline with Popeye. ty 4 this post

  • haha! He looks like Eminem!!!

  • Oh I'm sorry where do I send the Flowers lol XD

  • 1:35 you don't busk him he kill you !!!!!! haha

  • is that butterbean?

  • olive oyl is so damn annoying

  • Start of Robin Williams moive career>

  • i love this part of the film :)

  • To God

Sir Hollywood of today`wont listen to us tell them to stop ruining great films of the past. So would you please hit them with a lightning bolt?

    Thank you from Gamehound

  • I like Wimpy the Ref... "There ARE NO RULES..." Always an interesting touch how Bluto gets interested in the fight when he realizes Popeye is in the ring... when Oxheart is down for the count, Bluto returns to his Cabin lol. They don't make movies like this anymore

  • One of my favorites movies of all time!! The boxer is an actor named Peter Bray. I think he is passed on, never done any research on him. I was not aware it was about to become public domain, that is interesting. Little Linda Hunt was perfect as his Mudder!

  • 3:02....Classic!..:)

  • I can't find the credits to the movie anywhere.

  • @FireCheepCheep The movie is cheap on DVD. Get one, otherwise look it up on IMDB.

  • Geezil-"You don't busk him, he kill you!"

  • That's exactly right! LOL He's a good cornerman.

  • no wonder how he got so good in acting

  • ladies and gentlemen welcome to the main event!! Popeye vs. fat guy!!! Let's get ready to rumble!!!! fat guy throws the first punch but POPEYE is standing strong!!! and a shot to the head ladies and gentlemen that has got to leave a mark! and Popeye blocks his punches! and a punch to the stomach!!!! interference by fat boys mudda and a punch to the neck! what's this ?! Popeye is dancing in the ring!while he goes left and right missing the bad guys punches! then Popeye jumps!will he win?!

  • OMG I forgot about the pipe part XD

  • How come Popeye never had any hair in the cartoon.

  • Okonk: He does have hair in the cartoon. Like Charlie Brown though, he is blond to the point that he is perceived as bald.

  • Shelley Duvall is perfect as Olive Oyl. This is so much like the cartoon its scary!

  • you yes you! you're gonna be kissin' canvas real soon! lol! my fav line!

  • YOU! YOU! YOU! You're gonna be KISSING CANVAS real soon!!

  • I love that line!

  • That was one of my favorite lines of Robin's....of course, this movie had a LOT of good lines!!

  • Haha thnx for the post!!

  • Not a problem. I believe this movie is public domain are is about to become public domain. Crazy huh? I love this flick.

  • looks like King Kong Bundy

  • The baby was so cute. Popeye because he has a blind eye: Pop Eye.

  • The twister punch reference from the classic popeye episode Vs Sinbad the Sailor. :)

  • Que chafa!

  • 2:54, "Timber!"

  • why does popeye hav blonde hair?

  • Well he's pretty much bald in the cartoon, so instead of making the live action version even creepier they gave him blonde hair :)

  • He's always had blond hair in the comics. Look at some old Thimble Theater strips from the 1920s, which is where they got this scene from. He was bald in the cartoons though.

  • @newguy90 He wasn't bald just had thin red hair....kinda like Charlie Brown

  • is that king kong bundy?

  • I was wondering that myself, but after doing research on KKB I don't think it is.

  • :D je je je je je je je je je je

  • wow! :-O

  • damn to think i was that babys age when this movie came out...hahaha...classic...

  • lets just hope hollywood leaves this alone

  • @balthier1983 i completely agree. this is one of the most classic movies out there. i hope hollywood doesnt try to screw it up like they did with all the other classic cartoon movies.

  • @balthier1983 hollywood are getting ready to ruin it. remake in complete cgi to be released next year

  • @RuFFNuTTProductionz noooooo! CGI? they may aswel make a tv series, this a cartoon that can be made easily in live action, why CGI?

  • @balthier1983 sadly we all know very well they won't..... they made Yogi Bear, Popeye is just a matter of time

  • I like it when they use unknown actors for roles of fictional characters, otherwise I'm like "oh look its Robin Williams playing Popeye"

  • lol according to wiki this is his first film role so I guess nvm then.

  • @BECK26x wiki isn't all that accurate.

  • @BECK26x whenrobin did this he was unknown

  • @balthier1983 Not exactly, I think he had done Mork and Mindy by this point....but still very new!

  • I love it...it even sounds like a popeye cartoon with the all the background talk

  • lol 1:35 you dont busk him he kill you right?

  • wow i love popeye

  • i dont mean to actually say this movie looks horrible i never knew about this. This is too nostalgic for me

  • Comment removed

  • i used to love popeye, not seen this for aaaggeess thanks for uploading :D

  • Uh-Oh! When the pipe spins, you best back off, popeye's pissed!

  • Robin Williams sounds like Jack Mercer

  • I LOVE this film! I'm 34 years old and saw this in the theaters 27 years ago. It stands the test of time and continues to get better with each viewing. The costumes are fantastic, the casting is perfect, the script is cartoon-like (and written by Jules Feiffer who wrote an amazing film called Little Murders), directed by Robert Altman!!, has catchy musical numbers, incredible sets and does NOT date in the least! Popeye will always be a wonderful childhood memory and an under-rated classic!

  • Like me, i'm the same age and also saw it at the movies when it came out, only thing is I have not seen this movie since.

  • You sound like a man of great taste!

  • Well, I do have great taste. Thanks for noticing!

  • YO OLIVE!!! I DID IT!!!!

  • I totally forgot about this film. lol

  • dancing dancing dancing.

  • I love this movie.

  • LOL didnt know there was a Popeye movie! XD

  • When this movie was released, Popeye was 50 years old. Paramount Pictures and King Features Syndication done a great job on this movie. With help from Walt Disney and Hanna-Barbera.

  • Wow! Thx for the explanation!

  • Lookit them legs. haha i love this scene.

  • Great Homage to the Rocky Movies.lol

  • I want to see the popeye vs. bluto scene!!!

  • there's no need to change his clothes, he looks better in the sailor suit boxing

  • I one time ate eggs.

  • I wouldnt fight popeye..Hes bad as*!!!

  • i also enjoy eggs.

  • I LIKE EGGS :)

  • I love how Popeye jumps into the ring and fights Oxblood Oxheart after Olive Oils brother Castor Oil is defeated and literally kicked right out of the ring, Popeye beats this bully up and does it in comedic fashion.

  • Oxblood Oxheart: Mummy I'm sorry

Popeye: I'm sorry were can I send the flowers? LOL!

  • Popeye Is the strongest man ever. :]

  • move over tyson
