@rssnowblind0 yeah mark ibold only recently became the bassist of sonic youth but he has always been the bassist of pavement. gotta love a man like that
@kanye2west2was2right I've met Mark Ibold twice, the first at a Battles show in Central Park during Summerstage series when he told me Pavement would never get back together again because Malkmus didn't need them, liar, and the second after I saw Sonic Youth play the Apple Store where we just happened to be on the same subway car riding uptown on the 6 train. It was cool to see a musician ride the subway with his bass. He probably thought we had followed him when we approached him.
I just saw them at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston. They played Hey Joni as their first encore song (Yes, we urged them out again ;D). I almost pooped my pants. They proceeded to go for the double encore. I did poop my pants. It was nothign short of pure awesomeness.
its so that kim can concentrate on just singing on some songs and so that she can play guitar on others. alot of their newer songs actually have 3 guitars on them
actually the song is about someone they knew. they took the Jimi Hendrix song "hey joe" and added "joni" to get the title. At least that's what I remember reading about it. One of my favorite Youth songs.
I love the original version from Daydream Nation. Don't like this remixed version as much. And what the heck is Kim playing here? It just looked like she was strumming harmonics at the 12th fret the whole song.
without the picture i am shure you wouldn't here any difference. too many people seem to know sy too good. the "good" sound quality makes it absolutely irreal to here what she is doing different then on the album and the ex-pavement guy plays definitly the same as kim on dn in 1988.
go ahead and form a band... with your knowledge and hearing you should be a true master.
so sick... love sy

She's a beautiful mental jukebox
