  • Wow!!! I am soooo impressed with this pedal. I have a jcm900 that I wish it wasmore of an 800. Now I'm going to buy this pedal and use it's clean channel only and this pedal as my lead "channel": I just wonder if it can give me that agressive bottom/ early zakk wylde/ southern rock sound when i do palm muted power chords... BUt really, incredible sounding amp... My god... I was going to spend my money on a JCM800...

  • That switch on the down position sounds throwaway, might as well switch to middle and take the switch off.

  • Never mind....

  • Hey what amp are you using in the vid???

    Thanks and Love the Plextortion!!!

  • Wampler's for around $200 are 5 times the usual crappy $130 pedals!

I am grateful Brian has them at $200, if you are using little Boss and other crap Wampler might be too much for you. Best drives and high gain distortion you are going to find, it is just a matter of tweaking to your guitar rig and your taste.

I am so picky when it comes to overdrives and I picked the Ecstasy hands down, the '65 is cool because it is a JFET platform. Just the best pedals Brian, the best!!!

  • These were made in a lightblue color as well right?

  • just wanted to know if the changes were only cosmetic or internals as well

  • @nylonsteel The changes are cosmetic only. There is a lighter purple one, not light blue that I've ever seen..!

  • @wampcat Thanks ,yes I just got a purple version today in the mail ,Sounds great! :)

  • I don't usually like distortion pedals, but this one sounds superb, I would ask how you do it, but why spoil the magic!

  • Will the Plextortion do saturated lead sounds? im wanting a hot plexi sound that keeps the mids nice an full too.

  • @Danthehorse Most definately, it's really good for that JCM 800 sound, the start of this video is quite scooped as the mid is set to about 11 o'clock, but at about 1:00, you can hear the mids come back in. The great thing about it is that when you adjust the EQ control it won't muddy up, but change the character of the sound in the correct way. If you are after the Hot Plexi into the JCM800 zone, then this is the pedal. Original Plexi sounds - less "gainy" tone, the Plexi-Drive would be the one.

  • @wampcat Many thanks for your reply, this could be the one for me.

  • @Danthehorse No worries - our pleasure, maybe be worth seeing if there is a dealer near you to give it test run..? PM me if you want a heads up on dealers :)

  • I've tested the delay and compressor too. Man these pedals are thee best. I'm replacing all my effects with just Wampler:-)

Are you gonna design a wah?

  • @sroberts408 You never know, we may do - we've had a few people ask about that recently and that's usually what starts the process of. If we did, I imagine it will be along the lines of a Vox / Crybaby type thing.

  • EXCELENT pedals I want this particular one just have to save more money to get it, stop bitching about the price

  • I'm sure this is a nice-sounding pedal, but I'LL NEVER KNOW, since Youtube's videos are too gay to load... Oh, I think I heard 1/13th of a second there...hmm, sounds good...GOTTA THINK FAST when trying to watch Gaytube.

  • This sounds nothing like a plexi

  • i have the pinnacle 2 which is fucking amazing, but i have to get this one now.

  • Way to go again Brian!!! I own the Wampler Plextortion and love it!!! It is the warmest, most versatile, Marshall pedal I own. It's too bad, people who don't know anything about tone or how much hard work you've done to make these pedals have to leave negative feedback. Your pedals are worth every penny, and I can't wait to get me a Plexidrive!!! God's Blessings Brian

  • Will you guys ever go to 3 knob EQ on the Pinnacle 2?

  • what amp is this with. I have a Peavy classic 50 so do u think i could get that heavy gain sound with this?

  • I think the Plexidrive is much closer to a true Marshall sound, i'd love to see that with a 3 band EQ!

  • so close to buying it i can almost hear it :)

  • I got the regular Plextortion in the mail today. WOW does it sound good! Best distortion pedal I've ever owned! It's so articulate and full sounding. They must use really good parts... it screams quality. Outstanding sound!

  • "Don't ask me no questions & I'll tell you no lies"

    Good Skynyrd song.....

  • Just picked up this pedal, hands down best Marshall in a box I've heard. For me this pedal beat out my old time favorite the CM Plexitone. What a pedal! I tried it out and the way it responds just can't be shown in a video, so happy I found this one killer!!

  • Bananas At Large Music $200 out the door. Pedal is SICK. These videos don't do the pedal justice. I'm Playing an old parts Strat w/ Lindy Fralin pu's (Torres Blueskaster setup) thru a 93 Blues DeVille and it just roars. The pedal thrives on volume - both from the amp and on the pedal. I have pedal's 3 EQ knobs set at 3, gain cranked and volume at 10, amp at 3(it's loud!). Vintage mode = Malcolm Young/ Joe Walsh & Modern (needs the volume a tad higher on pedal) = Angus/Slash, etc. Stellar!

  • This version is replacing the "Super Plextortion" ????

I thought they were different pedals ? Can you tell me ?

  • @Nothernlight47 The Super Plextortion was a more modern sounding, JCM900 type pedal... The regular Plextortion is more tuned to a JCM 800.

  • I am playing at a music event this week!! my board will have a Wampler analogecho and Ecstasy Drive!! I have alot of pedals! and these 2 are in my top notch choice :)

  • Some right arrogant idiots below!! Wampler pedals are NOT overpriced! they cost the same as a Boss or Line 6 pedal and sound loads better!! its more like the mainstream companys are ripping people off with their Chinese built FX!! and another thing! Brian deserves the money he makes! spending time and energy to design and build guitar players pedals that are worth using!! people who say they can build pedals like this with ease?? wheres your website and quailty pedal building rep then?? NIL!

  • they aren't overpriced, but they are out of my price range

  • I think they have done up alittle bit lately. there worth it though, better than a Line-6 pedal. Wampler has just released a chorus pedal!! check out the site!! it sounds so good!! I want it :) but my budget is rubbish at the moment :(

  • @Fender1976uk

Absolutely agreed. I own a Pinnacle 2, Triple Wreck, Hot Wired (and a Clean Buffer). The pedals are all different, do the job perfectly and the service from Brian and his team is fantastic. I've owned a huge amount of pedals, and these are staying with me. 100% certain.

  • @Fender1976uk I agree wampler pedals are worth it if you want the absolute best sound. I own a super plextortion and I love its tone! But honestly, for $199, I expected it to be a bit more roadworthy. If wampler wants to continue selling their gear at boutique prices, I would suggest making their construction as solid as their sound. At least upgrade to some rubber knobs. Also led is too bright to see the indicators on the knobs when the pedal is on. New knobs might help this a bit tho

  • WEELLLLLLL Overpriced..... $250 thats ridiculous!!!!!!! All the components inside the box are prolly worth at most a tenth of that price.......

  • True, but if your handed the components, could you build one? What would you charge for your time on top of that? Would you paint it? How would you pay your employee's selling these for $25. Just an observation but they are selling you a great sounding pedal that would make your grandma's Boss pedals bury themselves in shame. I heard some of Brians stuff and sold what I had. You definately get what you pay for with them. Otherwise they wouldn't be in business.

  • Yea good stuff that he thought of this circuit.... but hey the guy obviously just looked at books on how to pedal pedals and experimented with component values.... If someone were to give me the components with a schematic i would be able to build one in a flash... hell if someone just gave me the schemtatic i could build one... The only reason why the guy can charge $250 is because people are too lazy... and or dont have the skills..... but for those who can solder.. Major overprice.

  • I'm cloning this thing now. Thats how brian did it. I think its very close to the BSIAB II pedal from the Guitar Gagets site. Brians ooks on pedal modification is also really good. Once you know the basic circuits, you can do most of anything yourself. You are right, humans are lazzy......

  • Yea mate... once i listenend to the samples of the BSIAB II ... I would say its practically the same sound as this... jsut with a few different component values! and hell its only $60 lolz.... thats ridiculous! Nice find!

  • I think the Wampler pinnacle is closer to the BSIAB II pedal, I have read that the plextortions are based on a Marshall Guv'nor pedal, you can find the schematics on the internet, I think even with some modifications that brian did.

  • I could imagine Andy Timmons playing with one of these! The tone is that good

  • this pedal plays everything!! hard to find a pedal with this much beef that can play lighter more overdriven tones just as well

  • I would buy this pedal!! but my money is abit bad at the moment!!! :) have to wait

  • I want a two channel Super plextortion

  • Thats a good idea :) what about if Brain did something like that Captain Coconut pedal by Foxrox! 3-4 of his best pedals in one :) that would be so cool :) I am also very keen to see if Brian will do some effects like Chorus, Flanger, Phaser :) I own 2 Wampler pedals! and they are great, never had an issue with them

  • Im not familiar with that particular pedal but sounds interesting. In my experience working with my Orange TT or Rebel Egnater its really nice to have two channels of Distortion in one box or a box with a boost and distortion. I particularly love the Super Plextortion sound so thats what I would want with two channels. My dream would be the overdrive from the Super Plextortion and the High gain. Just me

  • the Captain Coconut isnt made anymore as far as I know and will cost alot on e-bay! its basically a Jimi Hendrix multi-analog effects unit :) it has a univibe, Fuzz and octave! I use the Wampler Ecstasy Drive (version 1) and a Tonebone classic :) their cool pedals! and Wamplers delay is great, oscolating on that is top notch

  • Have you heard of the Plexitube? its by a company called radial. that has 2 channels if you ever think about finding an alternative :) BUT hopefully Brian is reading all these comments and having some thought with ideas mentioned :) wow! just thought! a Wampler pedal with a 12AX7 tube! :)

  • I actually own a plexitube. I still would take a one channeled wampler over the radial. Its the best thing I have played, but the super plextortion is the best thing I have ever heard. Good thinking though I bet brian would do something good with a 12AX7.

  • The EHX English Muff'n is the tits! Its amazing!

  • Killer tone!

  • Killer tones in there, as usual.

  • Man this thing sounds good!!! Cool pedal!
