every so often a song comes along which you know will be with you for life, the best song from the best band, hauntingly beautiful, poetic, pure everlasting nothingness
@simon007mc I agree...lets not forget they are from wales....for too long we have been ignored and for too long london has talked at Britain and not with it
@theEdrye whil i dont like castro for his form of hierarchial government....its amazing that cuba is the only self sufficient food producing country lol
@yoursir100 Not to take anything away from him, but he genuinely 'borrowed' those lyrics (and some obvious others) from a poem called 'Neon Loneliness' - pure poetry indeed!
@StanLDN Big fan Lol x Have been since the mid 1990s :) Fell out of it for a bit, only just rediscovered their music again recently, found myself knowing every single lyric Lol x Their music is genius, its timeless. Love it! xox
Your name is very apt.. think you have been looking at it for too long or need glasses-how can you compare MSP to DM? Dave Gahan bares no resemblance and as for the others??
Both groups are unique in their own way, but Depeche Mode far outweigh the Manics in style.....
Wow, did not recognise JD. I didn't discover them till about a decade after this when I was about 14/15. Used to love Indie which seems to have just fallen off the earth now??
Vevo, why don't you fuck off with the ad's. If I wanted to watch plastic gangsters and shitty manufactured girl bands I would revert back to being 12 again.
i like it but they re prob left wing intellectuals which puts me off them ,they live vastly different lives ,great melody though.Should come with lyrics could be in welsh for all i can hear except for the corus (thats a kind of joke but sort of true at the same time.
I think it's Tokyo because of the Tokyo Tower and I saw Tokyo in Japanese(Chinese) character at 3:49...but maybe some parts are from other places, not so sure.
Great song shame about the lyric 'Motorcycle Emptiness' - It sounds sooo Motorhead. All leathers and urine soaked denim jackets. Why didnt they pen 'Burning Emptiness' or 'Crying Emptiness' something more heartfelt would have opened this song to a larger audience.
@3tangle3 Exactly my point . . . .sounds like something Meatloaf would pout out. Tender feelings of lonliness mixed with the internal combustion engine in my opinion dont really go. 'Drive my car - The Beatles' or 'Magic Bus - The Who' are naturally excluded from this edict.
Could someone please explain to me why this band is successful? Must be because of the sophomoric pop consumers buying this musical offal. The manic street preachers are to quality music what dog turd is to toothpaste.
@creationsteppa2008 A bit rich coming from the twat who wrote "great reply hahahaha what a dick that guy is ay". Don't be embarrassed about your crush on slapayid....
@bensimps123 pffft, bullshit problem....the prob is the little attention tey get, not praise, they wont the fuckin GOD-like genius NME award in 2008....
Sounds like something Meatloaf would put out? It really, really doesn't... unless all you take from the song is the word 'motorcycle'. As for shite on the TV and Radio... useless advertising dreams, blinding children...
Does anyone else notice the similarities between this video and the film Lost in Translation? Examples: in the hotel room Nicky's asleep on the bed; Richey sitting on the window seat staring out at the city; Sean flicking endlessly through the TV channels; the rain and umbrellas; the band seeming lost and disconnected despite being surrounded by masses of people-all very similar to Bill Murray and Scarlett Johannson in the film. Maybe Sofia Coppola used was 'inspired' by this video??? Great song
fcking epic band period, they have stood the test of time, they were very young here, and are still going stronger than ever, after dire straits they's boys are my number 2 band of all time
this is one of the greatest songs ever! too bad richey did whatever he did, i think they would've been a lot more bigger and commercially a lot more successful if richey stuck around...but great tune nonetheless!
I'm not this band's biggest fan but you can't deny this guy has a strong voice with a good range.A classic guitar riff this one...not easy to come up with riffs like this so fair play to them!.Good melody and lyrics.
