and i have the same set up as of now true duals there was a previous jimmied eshaust so i cut it off about 28 inchs from the flange after the cats what i was wanting to do is maybe shorten it up sense i have 45 inch overall length glasspacks so there is more room what i want to do is put 2.5 pipe with the cats and o2s in there correct places change to the different style 2 bolt flanges into an x-pipe to the glasspacks and out with 2.5 pipe and 3.5 or 4 inch tips what do you think is it possible
ok so i have the exact same truck im only 17 and im new too this kind of stuff like i have done other exhaust on older trucks no problem i was just wonder since i need new cats i was thinking maybe just redo the entire exhaust and make it 2.5 inch pipe from the manifolds back but seeing how you somewhat showed it what i thought i saw was no cats an x-pipe and and straight pipe i want to do something like that im just not sure if i could with the electrical bs

what is a crossover then im kind of confused i have the same exact truck and want to do a complete system but im not sure about the whole o2 sensor stuff
@coreymurray8 a cross over is put down stream of the cats and after the O2's. its use is to equal exhaust pressure in the system. if you have a y pipe before your cats, then you dont have the same factory set up i had. i had two separate pipes going into two separate cats and they went into the factory muffler separately. if your gonna do the entire system they will add new O2 bungs (the threads they screw into) on either side of the cats, and the number of O2's depends on the age of your truck.
@coreymurray8 when i changed to my new tru-flow x pipe i went from 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 inch, and the o2's are not messed with when adding a cross over unless you put in in the area they are in
check the oxygen sensor ^^^^ its on the drivers side connected to your exhuast.. alot of time when you switch to a straight pipe the O2 sensor will go bad.. its only like a $20 fix so if its not the answer than your not out alot of money..
@chevrolet0388 its a type of crossover which equals the pressure on both sides of the exhaust. you can also use H pipes, both work well. X pipes actually create a slight vacuum effect to help pull the exhaust out the system.
@javojjaaf Thank you. Now one more lol, when do this become necessary? I bought a 98 silverado and it has a straight pipes. Sounds good and seems to run good. The check engine light does come of after 2-3 minutes of it running and stays on til I shut it off. Would thisbe because straight pipes and not enough back pressure or no vacuum?
@chevrolet0388 the back pressure will not effect the electronics what so ever. do you have cats? if you dont, thats why you light comes on....if you do they may need to be replaced. have you had it scanned? it could be a completely different issue. stop by an Advance Auto, they run scans for free. as far as a crossover being necessary, its not. i assume you are not using one now? if the straight pipes are to loud for you try an x pipe before you buy a muffler. check out my newer exhaust video!
i have a 98 silverado no cats super 10 series flowmaster IF YOU WANT THAT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OFF YOU WILL HAVE TO PUT 02 SPACERS ON YOUR O2 SENSORS AND CLEAR YOUR CODES ON YOUR PCM LOOK EM UP O2 SPACERS I MADE MY OWN BY DRILLING OUT SPARK PLUG FOULERS BUT IT WORKS ON TRUCKS ALL THE WAY TO 08 SOME 09s
@truckguy454ss naw, im good...i replaced the one i had with a tru-flow in my new video and its much better. X-pipes create better exhaust scavenge because of their "vacuum" effect at the rear of the crossover. better performance. thanks anyway
Yeah Dude do Long tubes into a 3 inch pipe and then throw it into a 4 inch im telling you! it will sound sick. nothing come close to the sound of that. trust me dude do it!
luckily i dnt have that raspy sound on mine i think its the cats that prevent it or something my buddies have their cats gutted and has that raspy motorboat sound lol mine has the cats and its a smoother no motorboat sound
if i were u.............i would just have true duals with an X-pipe stright out the back with chrome tips no mufflers no cats. thats what im gona do on my 95 chevy 1500. it sounds really good like that.
That bad rasp is because they took off the resonator

did the pipe size on the y-pipe change in size and does that affect the o2 sensors?

Your current setup did you buy that as a kit and just bolt it up or did you get some place to make it for you?

@truckguy454ss
if you were a true 'truckguy', youd know that not only is an x-pipe 'true duals', they also produce a lot more power then just 2 pipes straight back.

@leafsrule16 2 pipes sounds better
