  • Hi there

Love the video it has helped me so much. I was wondering where you got those snappi things? Thanks

  • @Mommmajful They sell snappi's at the local supermarkets and shops where they sell flat nappies like Big W. I know you can buy them on ebay as well.

  • Hi-

Can you tell me where to find those at ikea? I searched their website and I can not figure out what they are calling those 3 packs. Thank you so much!

  • @Nouterbud

It wont let me put the link up, I will PM it to you.

    They are 3 in a pack for $8, I bought 4 packs i think.

  • Thanks for that. I ended up getting some baby beehinds. They are really good over the squares. Am now sewing my own inners to make it easier for dad and when I'm out and about (my boy is incredibly wriggly). Just need to get some snap pliers and I will be in business. Hopefully the snaps will be too hard for him to open - Velcro is just not a big enough challenge anymore. The joys!!! Thanks again for the advice. You have given me the confidence to give this cloth thing a real go. His persistent

  • This vid is reeeeaaally helpful. I have just started using flat nappies on my 7 month old and couldnt get to grips on how to make them tighter round the legs! thanks!

  • @BabiBearJay Oh great, I'm glad it helped, flats is all I mainly used on my first, I still use them with my second who is 17 months and plan on using them with this 3rd bub. Yeh you just have to bring up the sides twice and then roll in the legs once it is snappi'd on.

  • This is so helpful! Thanks

  • @babymac004 No worries, I like being able to use different nappies and different folds, it keeps it interesting :)

  • Thanks for the video! I have just started using cloth nappies on my 8 month old. Just wondering where you sourced your PUL covers (or pul fabric) or which ones you recommend? There does not seem to be too much variety in the Sydney baby stores.

  • @coraliechen I'm glad my video helped. Baby Beehind covers are really good quality and fit well over flat nappies and are pretty cheap, I think they are around $10 or $12 each. I also use Thirsties covers, they are quite generous in size and have leg gussets which is great to help with leakage, you can also get them in a duo cover it comes in 2 sizes. Size 1 fits NB and small and size 2 fits med and large. You would have to buy them online though. I buy PUL from snaps aust or nappies covered.

  • Thanks for this video! I like flats on my baby and this video is excelent to learn how to fold them!!! ;)

  • @mimymommy Oh no worries, I am glad it has helped.

  • are these folds ok with boys?

  • @sarahadik Yes they are fine for boys or girls.

  • I don't know why I watched this old vid but the thought I had during the whole thing is how much you have grown as a mother ( remembering the early vids when you were expecting Lacey) You have grown into such a graceful person. I am duely impressed and felt moved to let you know.

  • Thank you for posting this video, it is very useful!:)

  • Thanks for the video, it was very helpful. I'll be using terry and flannel flats for my bub due this year but I don't know anyone who's used them before, hence why I'm looking online :). Just a couple of questions, are the nappies absorbent? and did you ever have much leakage with using them with the covers?

  • @elfquestfan22 Hello, thanks for the questions. I found flannel hard to stay on well when they get bigger coz the snappi doesn't work, only pins BUT if you fold them like a pad (with no need to fasten) and lay in a well fitting cover they work well. I found i have less leaks with my flats than with modern cloth nappies. I LOVE my bamboo terry flats, they are thinner and softer then cotton terry and more absorbent. I got mine form bamboonies. PM me if you have any other questions

  • can you get terry towls in different sizes? i just pratice this fold and it looks like it would only fit a newborn!... And do the covers come in different sizes too ?

  • @stephruth07

Yes, covers come in different sizes. The muslin I am using in this video is a lot bigger than the terry, yes some of the folds would only fit a smaller baby but as they get older (and you don't need to hold in liquid poo explosions) you can just have a pad fold laying inside the cover, I have found this works well under a good fitting cover. I may have to do a video on this too.

  • Thank you so much for this video. I have 2 little ones that i used disposables on and im now pregnant with number 3 and will be using cloth, your video is exactly what i needed to help me with how to fold them. :)

  • @beeny1983 Oh no worries, I'm glad I could help. Just inbox me if you have any other qns.

  • I was wondering what the measurements for the cloth are? I can't find precut cloths for this, so I was going to buy the fabric and make it myself. Is the terry one just normal terry cloth fabric liked used in towels and robes?

  • @LaurelAndrews

Yes, the terry is just like towels, maybe a bit on the thinner side though. I will have to wait till morning to measure them for you as they are in the girls room.

  • @TheGraceDiaries Thank you so much! I didn't expect to hear from you so soon. :) And thank you for taking the time to measure for me. There is so little here in my town for babies, and anything for cloth diapering is non existant. :( And it's really what I want to do when out little one gets here.

  • @LaurelAndrews

No worries, the terry is 60cm X 60cm which is around 23 and a half inches. The muslin is 24.5 X 25.5 inches. Hope this helps. Are you able to get your hands on some snappi's? They are so much easier to use than nappy pins. If you can't PM me and I will buy some and send them to you.

  • Can you use flannel recieving blankets as a flat?

  • @bonnidiane Yes but you can't 'snappi' them very well, it doesn't grip the blanket, you'd have to use nappy pins

  • @TheGraceDiaries Thanks, I was plannign on using the folds that don't require pinning, just the really long end tails.

  • Awesome.. Thanks for posting as a video response.. :)

  • @ClothDiaperChannel

    no worries :)

  • You have inspired me to try some flats as I always use prefolds. Does the dye run when you wash the coloured terry?

  • @bondgirlbabe84

no it doesn't, good luck and enjoy trying the diff folds :)

  • @bondgirlbabe84 they were bought that colour, so they don't run but if i had of dyed them myself they probably would of run.

  • Thanks to your vids I no longer have no hobby. I've decided to invest in a sewing machine. Have no clue how to use it but I'll learn. Thank you for opening my eyes to a new journey. I've been home schooling and that has been taking most of my self time. Now I will take up sewing as a hobby. Something for me to learn and teach my older and even younger children. Mom of 16,13,5,3 years and 3.5 mnth old. :-) I enjoy your vids thank you.

  • Thank you for your video, it was very informative to help my wife and myself. We would rather use cloth diapers than disposable ones. we just did not know how to fold any.

  • @hdaz02 Well now you know and if you ever forget how to do it, you can just watch the video again :) Good luck on your cloth nappy journey

  • Awesome!

  • which cloth nappies do you use the most eg. all in ones, flat nappies etc. also what suits you best for lacey and felicity depending on their age?

That was very informative thankyou Grace :)

  • I always pack AIO nappies in the nappy bag (Baby Beehinds are great and Itti Bittis are ok). I use mostly flat/prefold nappies on the newborn up until 4-6 months, then i will use mostly AIO's. I used flat nappies with Lacey until 6 months and then used medium minky magicalls (Baby beehinds) which still fit her today almost a year and a half later and Large Itti Bitti's which i got when she was 9 months.

At home i usually use flats or prefolds.

  • @TheGraceDiaries Thanks so much for that, I look at all the different types and cant help but get confused, its good to hear what you prefer and works well for you :) Thanks for all the informative vids!

  • What great folds!

  • you are one cool momma!!! wanna buy a few terries to try next month, thanks for that x

  • GREAT video!! Hopefully this will show young mums it IS possible to still use flat cloth diapers in this 'modern" age! LOL! I use them on my grandson and even use PINS!! They are SO cheap! You can even use those small flannel receiving blankets you usually get so many of as gifts and which are impossibly small to swaddle with!

You have a couple of folds there I didn't know about! I can't wait to try them out!

  • @amishhorse

Well it defiantly is possible, flat nappies work great too. And yes you can use almost anything, fold it up and pin or snappi it on the baby. I have even tried using an old tshirt :)

  • SO COOL! I feel so left out because my kids are 28 years and 30 years and my little grandaughter uses prefolds.. but I feel like I should enroll in an origami class cuz you guys are having all the fun! Nice job and very clearly demonstrated.. as always.. good job!

  • @vivsgran

Thanks a lot, yes it is like origami, gives me a change and i get to use different folds every time :)

  • You are such an amazing resource! You are the master nappy folder!!!! brilliant!

  • Great Video!! You are such a pro at cloth nappys. I favorited this video for when we decide to have another baby.

  • This looks neat : ) Are these super bulky on the girls? Or do they allow them to move around pretty easily?

  • @08jaydensmommy08

The terry nappies are bulky on little babies but not on Lacey (that being said, i have used terry nappies on Lacey her whole life). I would say they are a little bit bulkier than MCNs but not hugely

  • I always thought the first fold you did was the 'boy' fold cause of the extra protection in the middle/front :) And i thought the kite fold was the newborn fold lol good thing i'm using mcn's

  • Awesome! Thanks for posting this Grace

  • That was a very interesting video, the first one is the way I used to fold mine.

  • Great video Grace! Thanks for sharing :)

  • i am so freakin grateful to have found your channel!!! you provide excellent informational videos that are not boring and mundane...thank you for that grace!

  • @alohababymama

Wow, thanks, i sometimes think they are so thanks for letting me know they are helpful.

  • Great video! im really concidering clothe nappy's with our next baby! im sure all these videos will come in handy then :)

  • @lovecanbemagic

They will and you will save some money too.

  • I didn't know there were so many! And yup, its Ashlea :)

Do you use any specific folds for different times of day or anything? Or what is the difference between them all?

  • @chatabox0girl

Some are more absorbent and i guess some work better on different body shapes and sizes. I use all the folds and can never really tell whether one is better than the other, they are all just wet when i change them :)

  • all. Also, do you CN when you go out? Are leaks much of an issue? I'd really appreciate your help as I want to start planning now so we don't have to spend a bunch of money at once. Thanks, keep the vids coming! Oh and p.s.. do you wear Felicity like you did Lacey? Is it easy with two to do the baby wearing? You'll probably be sick of me real soon - I really look up to you as a Mummy of two and all the awesome ideas you have for great parenting! x Vanessa

  • @fvnan

Vanessa, yes i babywear with Flick, it can be hard if Lacey is walking and im wearing Flick because i have to bend down all the time to Lacey and if Lacey is playing up i have to hold her at the same time. But its great for grocery shopping, Lacey in the trolley and me holding Felicity.

We CN when out, no real issues with leaks, i just take spare clothes in case. I will do a vid on that too if you like.

  • Hi Grace!! Thankyou so much for all your educating cloth nappy vids - I love them!! We just found out the other week that we're going to have baby2, woohoo!!! So anyway I'm 100% sure that I want to do cloth nappies for the new bub. Maxwell should only be in nappies for a short while after bub is born so we're not sure if we'll cloth him - hopefully! My questions are... what would you recommend for a starter kit for a newborn? Like what things must you have to do cloth nappying - bins and...

  • @fvnan

    I will do a vid :)

  • oh i also wanted to know what the diffrence between muslins and flannels are? i only used flannels or terry on my son...

  • @Yannon2000

Muslin is the type of material, its diff to flannel and the snappis grab onto it

  • the first fold you do is called a Origami fold, next is the Angle Wing fold, then Parallel fold, next is the Kite fold like you said and last is Gaynor fold i think....

  • i was wondering what are those things your putting on them to keep them together? i think you called them snappies or something.

  • @emmanimsmommy

Yes they are called a snappi, they can also be called a nappy nippa i think. It has little teeth hooky things that grab the fabric

  • Wow I had no idea there were so many folds! How do you decide which ones to pick?

  • @allharr

Ha, i do different ones each time. And that isn't even all the folds, thats just a few i know.
