For anyone giving her a hard time that she left out this or that, give her a break. I have an associates in electronics and I could literally spend hours, if not days, explaining the history of computers (and just on the computers 1940's to today). Such things as why a transistor is a switch, what kind of transistors are needed for a digital circuit, how TTL logic led to microcontrollers, how digital information is recorded on media, etc.
One major omission: Baby: It was the first machine that had all the components now classically regarded as characteristic of the basic computer. Most importantly it was the first computer that could store not only data but also any (short!) user program in electronic memory and process it at electronic speed.
Apple creates things that are shinny and fun to use if your easily amused. Nothing aside from that. They make programs simpler for the inept merely by limiting options and making the user interface look like it belongs on a Fisher-Price toy, networking on Apple computers is nearly non-existent, doing any actual work is nearly impossible, and gaming is a joke. Apple wasn't the first to make the PC, it wasn't the best, and it certainly wont be the last.
I hate apple, I hate Microsoft and Linux has compatibility issues with the wide range of programs I use....so I have no choice but to default to windows, as its easiest to use given the current market, I don't like it much but what can ya do. Although it is worth noting that i do hate apple ever so slightly more then Microsoft because they force you to shell out obscene amounts of money for the tiniest of upgrades and are mostly eye candy.
Windows computers are multimedia computers. Most people go to macs because they are *simple* to use. Windows is a more compatible OS. Mac OS X can only run on intel, when Windows OS can be compatible with AMD processors (This is without dual-booting/comprising the hardware). Windows OS X gives the user more variety if they want a cheaper computer to buy/build. I've built a Windows PC costing $750 running on AMD that got better benchmark results than a mac costing $2,500.

Nicely produced video. The IBM PC was the world's first true Personal Computer for both business and private consumers, not the Apple II. It's not a coincidence that Compaq and the rest decided to clone IBM machines which were A) cheaper to build, B) had no fixed software, C) more universal in terms of parts.

Nicely produced video. The IBM PC was the world's first true Personal Computer for both business and private consumers, not the Apple II. It's not a coincidence that Compaq and the rest decided to clone IBM machines which were A) cheaper to build, B) had no fixed software, C) more universal in terms of parts.

the absolutly first operativ system was not mac not windows it was nothing becouse the first computer was like a clock a big wooden desk with clocks and a long cable who went to a huge machine in the cellar at a facktory this collosal "box" did they use on a electricity facktory to see how much electricity the people used so it could be like 10000 clocks this was on like 1893 amazing !!!!

@melonpotato umm, you mean the first hardware computer was wooden desks....., the first computer was a person who computed long mathematics, not that this would interest you but there was a guy who spent 28 years computing the furthest prime number he can get to, so it took him 28 years to get a figer and a hardware computer did it in seconds and apparently made a mistake on his 17 years so thats 11 years of his life wasted OUCH!!! lol anyway just bored you there xD

Completely ignored:
Atari & Commodore wich both shared giant parts of the market for ages. People where much more likely to own a commodore then an Apple.
And paying more to use a system wich is more likely to make you pay for software is retarded. And yes i do own a mac and i have systems running: Win Xp,Win 7, leopard,BSD, Amiga OS 3,9 etc
