  • pretty impressive. Not just any artist has the ability to rock a dilla beat. Keith, wow, kills it on this track.

  • damm i remember when frist heard this shit was about 11 or 12 and this song was on my uncles old cassette tape and i used to be like yo who made the fuckin beat and the beat used to be in my head all the time im 16 now and ever since i heard dilla ive been addicted to his shit and if it wasnt for him i wouldnt know half the producers i now like madlib and many many more

  • r.i.p dilla his sound was like no other

  • @ fetishib ~ Peace & Respect my brother. I wasn't attempting to compare Dilla. I was trying to express my passion for his art. Honestly, I didn't know anything about Dilla until the past couple of years. To me, he really was under the radar. I'm sure all the insiders knew him but his name did not ring out so I was give homage to this brilliant brother who put it down. He actually was inspired by PR & Premo. @ wisesire ~ ROTFL!!! Dilla wouldn't fuck wit Puffy at all. Puffy's to shiesty.

  • Dilla also produced the original (and VERY dark) "Dangerous MCs" for Big in '96. It's rare but is on Youtube....

  • @TheHumanBallsack yeah the beat was picked from the 96 dilla beat tapee. crazy as fuck.

  • this beat sends shivers up my spine. Love u Dilla!

  • J dilla is a perfect example of someone who makes music for the love of the art....j dilla just let the music speak for itself...

  • @rohleks word

  • this song is really crazy, i listen it all day long: when i wake up, when i smoke my j*, when i have lunch, when i go to sleep.

  • @Brokewax my bad...DJ Premier is his correct name...HE IS THE NEW NUMBER TWO...THANX BROKEWAX...YAAAY!!! :)

  • I got maaaaaaaad love for the pioneers but to these "lollypop" cats they are the true forgotten freshness...my bad Dre...Dilla got numba 1.

Top 10 Dilla beat right here

  • @chillhood not possible

  • @chillhood well dilla's remix of Crustation - Purple deserves another look but in the remix category this is in the top 3

  • if there is an instrumental please point me to it!

  • @strongpedigree look at the video response

  • RIP DILLA...this is murray???? he knocked out so many people id think hed go way harder than this...

  • the original was great, but the remix has the better vibe.

  • no doubt

  • um j dee + music = the street poetry savior

  • thanx, ill be sure to hit that platform when i hit Strong Island this holiday season. so is that where he is from? i know De La is from Amityville i think

  • what borough is that station Keith Murray @ in the Pic. is that a El station, or Long Island st?

  • Central Islip Long Island

  • this track was like 97 right

  • More or less. The original was released sometime in late '96. I was fascinated that Dilla went back that far. He was really never celebrated like Puffy, Dre, Premo or any other hot producer of that day. I believe Dillz wanted it that way. Thus, he was the TRUE underground DJ King. Just listen to the history of his music. SICK!!! This man was abnormal with it. I love Marley Marl, Premier & Pete Rock, but Dilla?? Oh boy... Dilla was on that next plateau with all due respect to the pioneers.

  • bollicks

  • @Baltimorehop true words

  • @Baltimorehop ummmm u cud be anymore correct Dilla is in another galaxy from the other producers.....no disrespect to Pete Preem RZA...Dre etc...but Dilla was heavenly

  • @Baltimorehop REALEST TALK IVE EVER HEARD!!!

    amen!

  • @Baltimorehop I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOUR SAYING, BUT ITS NOT FAIR BECAUSE HE IS DEAD. IF ANYTHING HAPPENED TO (GOD FORBID) PREMO, PR, DRE OR MADLIB I MEAN CATS WOULD BE SAYING THE SAME THINGS ABOUT THEM. LETS JUST CCELEBRATE HIS MUSIC AND STOP COMPARING HIM TO OTHERS...HE WAS/IS TOO FRESH TO COMPARE, HES ON HIS OWN PLANET. PEACE

  • @Baltimorehop yeah i here that. lots of people complain about certain producers not getting picked up at that time. but i think we should be thankfull they never blew up. He could have been picked up by Puffy, but then he would be fat and gay as fuck right about now. Probably doing tracks for Kayne.

  • @Baltimorehop got tickets to see keith murray july 10th if any body gone be in the cleveland ohio area hit me up tickets only 10$

  • The one and only Dilla! RIP brotha!

  • RIP J DILLA :(

  • New York smooth jazzy style.

  • Well actually J Dilla who mixed and produced this song is from the D as in Detroit. The Motown still has it!! Much respect.

  • EVEN ILLER THAN THE ORIGINAL!!

  • Your right man. Thanks for the correction.

  • this remix is way hotter then the orignal

  • which ever 1 of you gave my comments a negative comment sucks cOCk! so ur disagreeing that Jay Dee was a master of making beats>???? the dopeSt ProDucer that eveR LiVed>? And that he wilnt be missed by millions from around the woRld? haha You FuckingFags.... I have millions of fans that would back my word up you just dont know what ReaL MuSic is....... fucking cock suckers

  • I dont even know you but I back you up, ive actually chatted with his sister, Martha.

    RIP James Yancey

  • There are many "last minute" JD fans. Unfortunately they have no clue of how much of his soul was rooted into the foundations that kept many well-known artist careers alive. Thank you JD. Your time on this earth was short and you did more than most of these so-called producers will do by their days end. We will miss you. Keep rockin' with the best. From the heart.

  • I used to listen to a a lot of rap music over the years,,since the early 90s and late 80s. I would listen to tracks like this and Bustas Rymes "Still Shining" over and over without knowing JD was responsible for them. JD really had a unique sound I was blown away by Slum Village's "Reunion" track

  • that reunion track was a black milk production

  • it's true it was a black milk production

  • I commented on youtube track of Common's "Love Is" song which was produced by JD. I included that Common was rapping to the beat which was an "off beat" style produced by JD. This beat is the total opposite. Keith Murray is rhyming on beat or on pace with the beat. Jay Dilla a/k/a Mr. Yancey was the best!

  • You know, JD is a true Enigma just like the name of Keith Murray's album. Damn, I didn't know he went this far back. He was around for a minute I see. I alway's loved this track and had no clue he did this until this very moment. WOW! Jay Dee -- God Bless you boy! God definitely reached for you. Straight talk from the heart!!!

  • I WAS HAPPY J DILLA LIVED

  • [RIP J-DILLA Feb 7th 1974- Feb10 2006]

  • true

  • I agree. It's perfection.

  • that s right...

    sick

  • J Dilla production of the best hip hop's history!

  • O.S.T.R feat. Keith Murray - Cultivation

    Check this album O.C.B peace!

  • Racja

  • damm i was looking for this song along time ago

  • What a realer than real remix Jay Dilla will be more than missed.

One of fav remixes I used the instrumental for my old demo "change ya flow"

That was a blessing for Mr Grimez The Anti Hero, I hope they will be other producers in the future that will bring their own sound rather than be a commercial sheep.

  • learn a quick lesson in mic aggression / so when i walk down the streets there'll be no second guessin

    dope

  • Jay Dilla is the illest to ever do it...Forver rest in BEATS.

    It beez like that sometimes...

  • kool

  • No joke here...

"Weezy" might want a drink of "vitamin water" because too much "syrup" rots your teeth and your rhymes... I'm sure he likes plenty of "butter" with his syrup....

  • Lil Wayne? Please... His caliber is "foolishly" influential for the mind that's "soft like butter..." You know, just like Soulja boy :)

  • One time for your moms, keiht murray once again

  • need this instrumental

  • this is ill.

  • Hombre, su primera producción profesional en el hip-hop no es, Jay Dee se dio a conocer con su producción del disco Labcabincalifornia, de The Pharcyde [1995], a los cuales conoció a través de Q-Tip

  • This is true. I hate saying it, but Dilla did several tracks where he didn't get any credit at all. And, the Ummah was kind of a way to take credit for Dillas creations. I love Q-Tip, and he pretty much discovered Dilla anyway, but he kinda jerked him on that Ummah B.S., and stole his credit on Tha Pharcyde's "Runnin'". It's just an example of how shady the music bizz can be, and why you gotta protect yourself in it. out.

  • i never doubted him, i would of liked to see jay, and keith colaberate again

  • Comment removed

  • shit is just crazy. RIP Dilla Dawg

  • THIS REMIX IS BUTY

  • ILOVE THE REMIX .

  • PEACE YO .

  • Incredible beat.. incredible rhyme.

  • i like both versions, erick sermon did the original one,and the (ummah)=jay dee,ali shaheed and q-tip did the remix they're both classic tracks. What makes me mad is that hardly anybody knows about ENIGMA which is a FUCKIN' CLASSIC from '96'. In my opinion enigma is keith murrays best album hands down,i could never get tired of listening 2 the album. DEF SQUAD!!! IN THE HOUSE!!! mad respect 2 u commentators u know whats up. PEACE.

  • This is actually the Ummah remix. So Ali Shaheed and Q-Tip must've had something to do with this as well.

  • No, they didn't. The Ummah was a Q-Tip invention, an "umbrella" to rep all of 'em. However, 90+% of the time you see Ummah, it's Jay Dee by HIMSELF. Don't believe me? Check the credits for J(ames) Yancey. Besides the artist/s and whoever was sampled, it's the ONLY name you'll see...

  • You're right, I recently checked the credits (never bothered to before because it's such a hassle to try to read the liner notes on that album).

  • julaybeeb you are correct that is true Tip the homie but they hoed dilla on many beats that he strictly made himself for example Janet Jackson "Til It's Gone" Jay made that himself

  • It's really easy to figure out who did what on Ummah tracks....whoever it says "mixed by" made the beat. True enough, Dilla did most of them joints, but not all. Production credit Ummah....check who mixed it...that's who's beat it is.

  • Didn't know that, but I did say 90+. One thing I think is kinda odd though, is that it's not like Q-Tip din't have CLASSIC beats himself (Gangsta Bitch for Apache, One Love for Nas, a few for Mobb Deep's The Infamous for example) He must of been so sprung on Jay Dee's joints that he had to just lay in the cut and watch Dilla's genius unfold. I don't know....

  • Ask your self if it was Tip or actually Dilla on the beat. That's a hole other story. Not saying Tip did but Dilla has actually gotten jacked for work he did with other folks. Other katts took credit for it. Google it!

  • i remember those nights, out drunk arguing hip hop with rtards. you know the wayne kanye heads...it really isn't worth it. u will not convert dummies period

  • word.

  • This Joint Sounds Like Something John Robinson Would Do.

  • never knew dilla did this track...rockstone! nigger is a legend...

  • I love Dilla no doubt! But this was one of the best songs from kieth murry!

  • kanye cant battle so that ends that theory...

  • LOL

  • THE BOMB! This dope shit's playing non-stop in my head. R.I.P. Jay Dee.

  • i didnt know j-dilla did this... haha nice i remember freestylin on this beat back in the day
