I need some help here, y'all: back in 96 a good friend of mine bought a white-label vinyl with an apparently very rare remix of this track, it used the same sample Naughty By Nature were using for "Hip Hop Hooray" just a little bit slower (The Isley Brothers "Make Me Say It Again Girl") so I do not mean the Jay Dee/Slumvillage remix. I ain't heard that version for over a decade and I can't find it anywhere on this whole/huge-ass internet. Any help greatly appreciated!

And that he wilnt be missed by millions from around the woRld? haha You FuckingFags.... There are many "last minute" JD fans. Unfortunately they have no clue of how much of his soul was rooted into the foundations that kept many well-known artist careers alive. Thank you JD. Your time on this earth was short and you did more than most of these so-called producers will do by their days end. We will miss you. Keep rockin' with the best. From the heart.
I used to listen to a a lot of rap music over the years,,since the early 90s and late 80s. I would listen to tracks like this and Bustas Rymes "Still Shining" over and over without knowing JD was responsible for them. JD really had a unique sound I was blown away by Slum Village's "Reunion" track
I commented on youtube track of Common's "Love Is" song which was produced by JD. I included that Common was rapping to the beat which was an "off beat" style produced by JD. This beat is the total opposite. Keith Murray is rhyming on beat or on pace with the beat. Jay Dilla a/k/a Mr. Yancey was the best!
You know, JD is a true Enigma just like the name of Keith Murray's album. Damn, I didn't know he went this far back. He was around for a minute I see. I alway's loved this track and had no clue he did this until this very moment. WOW! Jay Dee -- God Bless you boy! God definitely reached for you. Straight talk from the heart!!!
What a realer than real remix Jay Dilla will be more than missed.
One of fav remixes I used the instrumental for my old demo "change ya flow"
That was a blessing for Mr Grimez The Anti Hero, I hope they will be other producers in the future that will bring their own sound rather than be a commercial sheep.
"Weezy" might want a drink of "vitamin water" because too much "syrup" rots your teeth and your rhymes... I'm sure he likes plenty of "butter" with his syrup....
Hombre, su primera producción profesional en el hip-hop no es, Jay Dee se dio a conocer con su producción del disco Labcabincalifornia, de The Pharcyde [1995], a los cuales conoció a través de Q-Tip
This is true. I hate saying it, but Dilla did several tracks where he didn't get any credit at all. And, the Ummah was kind of a way to take credit for Dillas creations. I love Q-Tip, and he pretty much discovered Dilla anyway, but he kinda jerked him on that Ummah B.S., and stole his credit on Tha Pharcyde's "Runnin'". It's just an example of how shady the music bizz can be, and why you gotta protect yourself in it. out.
i like both versions, erick sermon did the original one,and the (ummah)=jay dee,ali shaheed and q-tip did the remix they're both classic tracks. What makes me mad is that hardly anybody knows about ENIGMA which is a FUCKIN' CLASSIC from '96'. In my opinion enigma is keith murrays best album hands down,i could never get tired of listening 2 the album. DEF SQUAD!!! IN THE HOUSE!!! mad respect 2 u commentators u know whats up. PEACE.
No, they didn't. The Ummah was a Q-Tip invention, an "umbrella" to rep all of 'em. However, 90+% of the time you see Ummah, it's Jay Dee by HIMSELF. Don't believe me? Check the credits for J(ames) Yancey. Besides the artist/s and whoever was sampled, it's the ONLY name you'll see...
julaybeeb you are correct that is true Tip the homie but they hoed dilla on many beats that he strictly made himself for example Janet Jackson "Til It's Gone" Jay made that himself
It's really easy to figure out who did what on Ummah tracks....whoever it says "mixed by" made the beat. True enough, Dilla did most of them joints, but not all. Production credit Ummah....check who mixed it...that's who's beat it is.
Didn't know that, but I did say 90+. One thing I think is kinda odd though, is that it's not like Q-Tip din't have CLASSIC beats himself (Gangsta Bitch for Apache, One Love for Nas, a few for Mobb Deep's The Infamous for example) He must of been so sprung on Jay Dee's joints that he had to just lay in the cut and watch Dilla's genius unfold. I don't know....
Ask your self if it was Tip or actually Dilla on the beat. That's a hole other story. Not saying Tip did but Dilla has actually gotten jacked for work he did with other folks. Other katts took credit for it. Google it!
i remember those nights, out drunk arguing hip hop with rtards. you know the wayne kanye heads...it really isn't worth it. u will not convert dummies period
Fire flow from keith, RIP Dilla

No, they didn't. The Ummah was a Q-Tip invention, an "umbrella" to rep all of 'em. However, 90+% of the time you see Ummah, it's Jay Dee by HIMSELF. Don't believe me? Check the credits for J(ames) Yancey. Besides the artist/s and whoever was sampled, it's the ONLY name you'll see...

You're right, I recently checked the credits (never bothered to before because it's such a hassle to try to read the liner notes on that album).

julaybeeb you are correct that is true Tip the homie but they hoed dilla on many beats that he strictly made himself for example Janet Jackson "Til It's Gone" Jay made that himself

Google it!
