As much as I love Zelda games... TO DEATH! The only one that's even close to an RPG is the second one, and good as it is, it's still the worst of the series.
This is a great list. I would rearrange some titles and switch out a few, but overall I agree that these games belong amongst the greatest of RPGs.
I like that you have Alundra and Breath of Fire on the list. If you havn't tried the other Breath of Fire games, you should. They are all great :)

Zelda is not an RPG. Check the game's wikipedia and any video game website's description of the genre. Zelda is not defined by its roleplaying, its defined by its action-adventure elements. That is the difference.

Btw the franchise does not contain every RPG element like you said.The absolute backbone of an RPG is levelling the fuck up and I think we can agree on that. Link hasn't done that since Zelda II, about 20 years ago. Its because of levels that Dark Souls is labelled as an RPG, despite playing like Zelda.

Zelda is not an RPG. Check the game's wikipedia and any video game website's description of the genre. Zelda is not defined by its roleplaying, its defined by its action-adventure elements. That is the difference.

@Lochsabre RPGs have been rated much different 20 year ago even monkey island was partly considered rpg because of certain elements.

@deathofangel789 You didn't read my comment properly. I said the game is not defined by its RPG elements, whether there are elements or not. Is Fallout 3 a First-Person-Shooter? Is Rage an RPG?
Btw the franchise does not contain every RPG element like you said.The absolute backbone of an RPG is levelling the fuck up and I think we can agree on that. Link hasn't done that since Zelda II, about 20 years ago. Its because of levels that Dark Souls is labelled as an RPG, despite playing like Zelda.

the only people who think wikipedia isnt accurate are people who are new to the internet or just stupid. zelda doesnt have a level up system, a party system, what you do doesnt effect the outcome of the game, and it isnt open world.

@deathofangel789 Elements of a RPG: Leveling up, Stats defining attack, defense, speed and such, and a multitude of weaponry or armor that alters these stats in either increasing or decreasing them. Legend of Zelda ocarina of time or link to past or fucking just ZELDA has none of these elements at all, and although gain new items such as stronger swords or bows these do not effect any form of stats at all, furthermore levels do not even exist in the game. Wikipedia is a user maintained site. That means everyday people like me and you can edit it. There WILL be inaccuracies in such a system. Hell, it was an old meme to say "IT'S ON WIKIPEDIA, IT MUST BE TRUE" or something like that. It's more like the reverse of what you say, kids and computer illiterates probably think Wikipedia is law.

No chrono cross, it beat all the ff for me, and suikoden 5 was better than 3, move all the ff and Zelda to the back and take the pokemon game off, digimon world 2 was way better, and no shining force? you should of put my top 50, b/c what really decides the top 50 are the sales, maybe not now since you can't get used games in there, but overall better than I expected.

I am saddened by the lack of Live-A-Live...
