The kind of comments Im reading are not just disrespectful, theyre just plain rude. They are comments made by people who dont know anything about Harold. You can dislike someone and still retain your personal honour. Many of the commenters have no honour. If you are a martial artist and you been properly taught then you will have honour and respect and you wouldnt make these types of comments.
I personally hove no problem with the MMA The competitors show humility after fights and they take their sport very seriously. It does seem to have brought out the worst in the fans though. Jiu-jitsu never had a "karate aspect". They are unrelated martial arts. Jiu-jitsu was developed on the mainland and karate was developed in Okinawa. Howard's taking nonsense.

Most well rounded fighter back in those days he had a karate aspect in his jiu jitsu so if u think about it he could keep it standing or take it to the ground and he gave gracie his first loss ever, true pioneer to the sport

he had zero grappling ability which meant zero hope in mma.He seemed like a hard chaw but certainly never used any karate in the ring.Imagine after decades of training it was inapplicable,thats what happens to all trad styles who dont contact spar.

Cut him some slack. He fought a guy who came out fresh and never fought. Totally fucking unfair. Steve Jennum was not a skilled fighter. He beat a winded man, then beat a fucking boxer, and withdrew from UFC 4 for injuries sustained from a BOXER. Come on. And he barely could submit that boxer.

I was a student of Harold Howards when this video was taken. The mistake Harold made was to under estimate Jennum. If Gracie had fought he would have lost. Gracie was pretty messed up from his fight and Harold was good to go. Cont....

Harold thought Jennum was going to be easy and tried to finish him with a fancy spinning axe kick. Big mistake and it cost him the fight. But you dont here Harold making excuses he sais he tried it, it didnt work and he lost. That is called humility. Something most people dont have

The style Harold taught was Jujitsu, Karate, and Aikido nothing more nothing less. You can lower your flags. Its all good.

The kind of comments Im reading are not just disrespectful, theyre just plain rude. They are comments made by people who dont know anything about Harold. You can dislike someone and still retain your personal honour. Many of the commenters have no honour. If you are a martial artist and you been properly taught then you will have honour and respect and you wouldnt make these types of comments.

I personally hove no problem with the MMA The competitors show humility after fights and they take their sport very seriously. It does seem to have brought out the worst in the fans though. Just read the comments and it is very clear. I personally respect anyone who has the guts to step into the octagon.

There are a lot of douchebag fans in this sport i'll say. Mostly casual fans who just want to see guys "stand and bang" and have no idea what goes into it. I fought as an amateur in highschool and all my friends talked about me training "ufc" and "streetfighting" even though i have never and will never start a fight in the street. Too many keyboard warriors

it pissed me off that Howard didn't have to fight anyone in the semi finals, Royce came in the octagon & quit. If Royce would have thrown in the towel from the lockerroom area, they would have given Howard a replacement. Instead Howard went on to the finales after only 1 fight & lost to Jennum

It is interesting to note that HH talked about a system he tried to develop, and then admitted that it didn't work out the way he wanted. It takes a certain kind of honour to be able to admit it, and not make excuses. People may not like him (even though they don't know him) but give me someone that is willing to put their system to the test and then gracefully admit defeat rather than shifting the blame.
For the record, HH has never claimed that he beat Royce, despite the "official" record.
