this was an amazin film, Penn an Franco were just so perfect together on screen,
I remember in the early 80's as an outreach worker thinking that youth culture of the following generations would be much more open and educated and hate, fear, and ignorance would eventually end,
but that has not been the case, there are many things which homophobes are and being uneducated is a big part of their problems,
alright one famous queer movie did well, how about another? Rock Hudson story, or maybe Montgomery Clift on how he died from having his butt hole worn out, or i know how about the guy who won the first survivor Richard Hatch, all so compelling stories oscar worthy
Why everyone that comes to help the world and is so kind always gets shot and persecuted? Lincoln, Martin luther king, Jesus, harvey milk, and john f kennedy? wtf why is our Planet so hateful?
the people who say it is a sin.... that is just passing judgement... that honey is a sin... so we will c u in hell !!!! if u believe in god anyway....
This movie is simply...sublime. It has an impact to it, and shows a realization that is just beyond the usual superficial purposes of films... It makes one think, thus, a thinking movie.
Although it's tru, it wont make GRAND changes on people's ideals, but at least for a moment or two, they may look back and reflect... And little thoughts can go a long way...
Two thumbs up for this movie... Hope Sean penn wins an Oscar, wonderful performance...
Yeah I do but one that you are too blind to see. Sometimes seeing is not always everything, that's why we have a imagination. Live and let live, that's what I say.
This film made me think... It reminded me that the fight we have as human beings is not over. Intolerance, hate and denial still exist. There are too many powerful and influential people in the world today who are fanning the flames of injustice. If only people could live by three simple words... honesty, respect and courtesy, then most of our problems will be eliminated.
You religious bigots know what's a bigger sin? HATING THY NEIGHBOR. Right there in big ass letters in the ten commandments...Do I see " Not being homosexual" in the tenth commandments? Oh that's right, i forgot about the human amedments you people have decided to add here and there along the course of history. Now seriosuly, if you're goign to be so spiteful and use religion agaisnt homosexuality, might as well stop calling yourself a religious person.
Many movies have been inspirational and educational to the public. Movies like Milk or Brokeback, can get people questioning their personal beliefs, so while there are some films related to this topic that will be "Historical records", but if it is well made it can change things.
this movie made me cry. gave me chills. made me laugh...best movie of the year. yes....ive seen the other great ones including The Dark Knight. this movie is simply BRILLIANT.
Well the "shame on you" award should go to Gov. Schwartzenegger for allowing himself to be swayed by the antiquated church groups when it came to the same sex marriage issue. Guess he didn't learn a damned thing playing the pregnant professor in Junior
I don't think this movie will make much of a difference. It may make a few people think differently but the world will always be fighting on what's right and what's wrong.
Interesting question. I really think it's a relative one... It depends how well the movie does, and the audience it attracts. While I would love to see movies like this make a difference, the people that need to see it (i.e. everyone who voted for Prop 8) probably won't, so it won't be able to...
Sorry for being such a pessimist! :( Great video though! :)
isn't it ridiculous that this movie took so long to develop?
and NO i don't think it makes much of a difference. a 2 hour movie won't change a person's personality or ideals. A movie is just entertainment and won't have that big effect on the world.
and to answer the question, I think movies can make a difference, if they just get people thinking about the issues. Not the most direct way, but still very cool.
I'll stick with God's word, the Bible(see Romans 1:26-27).

She doesnt actually watch the film. Hense why she asks the people, plus 3 in one day would be a bit overkill for someone :)

True, three movies in one day would be a lot - even for me!
But in MOVIE MATH, which just went up today, I do offer a review of the movies I saw this weekend.
