The usb port is on the bottom because kodak sells docking stations for their cameras. So having the usb port on the bottom allows the camera to sit upright when on the docking stations.

whats the relevance of having different modes for different "scenes"

i mean its seems like common sense to turn on the flash if its dark for example

how do snow and the beach vary in the particular way they need to be shot

Depending on the light situation or zoom it adjusts.

If its snowing, you going to have a ton of white in the picture so it balences it out to look nice with the rest of the photo and not just white glare from the snow. The beach would reflect different and cause different colors. It also can make the zoom quality better depending if your zooming in on something close or far away.

personally i keep it on smart capture which picks the scene for you when u focus the shot

Cool review, I htink the best one on youtube, even by prof's lol. Just ordered this off of ebay versus the Canon A590 because I got a sweet deal on the V1073. I know canon takes better pics but I like all the mumbo jumbo on the V1073 better. I feel advanced using it.

if im looking at the right product thats a camcorder right? If so im sure you might get better video and more extras like good zoom and better little things cause it does only video. You have to understand that the Kodak is only a camera/ camcorder. I cant give u a honest opinion,

I'm not positive i believe most cameras like this have a 4GB limit so i cant help you there.

sorry for the late response must have deleted it by accident when i was checking others. The storage depends on ur SD card size i have a 2GB and it hold "30mins of video" but i seem to get about 20 in high quality. Battery is great!

It seems that 1273 is a step up but more mega pixels doesnt mean a better picture, this one beats my sis's 12mp kodak. Its all about how much money ur gonna spend on it. I dont know the price difference at where you are going to shop but if its a difference of $75+ then no dont bother getting the 1273. Both are about the same and very good cameras.

not so far, i still love the camera! only thing i found out now that i dont like is auto focus on video and it makes filming screens a pain in the but. my touchscreen has had 0 problems!
