Obama campaigned on HOPE and CHANGE, but he is governing as chicken little. Have you noticed everything is a crisis? Have you ever noticed that when he announces a crisis, he and his libs legislate a catastrophe in response? So he is not your usual chicken little that is running around screeching that the sky is falling. He is actively working to make sure that it falls.
It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood.
I support a single-payer system as in S 703 & HR 676. I would settle for a robust public plan to compete with private insurance. If the private sector is so efficient & innovative there should be no concerns; business should welcome the challenge.
Remove the influence of "the money men of NY" in our political processes (CFR, Trilateral, other). Stop taking campaign contributions which could possibly be interpreted as "bribes", i.e. Goldman Sachs. Restore the political process as our founding fathers intended it. The people are waking up.
Vermont should be proud. This man is exactly what I would look for in a politician. Standing up for the middle-class working families and letting the truth be known about Washington and it's domination by private interests.
I have to say, senator Sanders, that you have initiated one of the most honest and respectable and adaptive modes of discourse that i've encountered in all of congress so far. I'm not strictly a vermont constituent, but in all sincerity, if there is something I as an individual can do to help promote the visibility of your ideas on the national scale, lets get to work. I really think you're on to something.
The senator said that he thought more politicians needed to go out to the people and act more like delegates in Washington, D.C. It's clear he are against interest groups having too much power (I've seen him talk about this before), but is he also against the trustee politician?
Is it wrong for a representative to be a statesman - going against what his constituents for he believes is best for the country? Or do these good intentions lead to bad outcomes because of interest group influence?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
that is my point. not only he voted against it..but the senate voted against it. But it still happened. His vote is worthless..and the senate as well.
that is a fact.
so just get rid of them if their votes dont count.
Senator Sanders, thank you! Every county in the country should have town meetings where our representatives have to listen to the people, whom they are supposed to represent.
Nancy Pelosi who quietly agreed to strip out of the $100 billion funding bill for Iraq a provision that would have required President Bush to seek congressional approval before launching any new war on Iran.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Senators voted not to give the auto companies the bailout.
Congress appropiates and legislates.
The Excecutive branch gave the money.
You are irrelevant...by your own design.
You gave yourself a raise...and I dont even know why you get payed in the first place.
You are a carreer politician. Everyone knows that.

He voted against the bailout. What more do you want?
BTW, it's not nice to say people are irrelevant by their own design because that's a comment on his personality.

the senate doesnt matter.
everyone knows it now.
dewey1111 3 years ago
Ah. I misunderstood your comment as something against his personality. Sorry about that.
Yes, this is true, the senate voted against the bailout but, this is also how the government works.
Two of the three branches of government can override another branch. It's actually how the senate functions normally.
Even though the senate was overrided, it is not worthless.
