Wait, wait, wait, wait... people who DON'T share the same beliefs and opinions can be... decent human beings?! Holy shit. More people need to know this. ;)
Funny, they showed Washington, Franklin, and Madison and the mentioned Jefferson--Deists all. Twenty times in the course of my late reading have I been upon the point of breaking out, 'This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it!'"
@fareel2368 You don't have to legitimize some one's lifestyle in order to love that person, to be brother or sister to that person, and to stand up for that person.
That game show part pretty much sums up the entire problem with Liberals & Conservatives. One side is well informed, more understanding. Meanwhile the other side is ignorant, poorly educated, fearful, suffers from the Dunning–Kruger effect, and lacks critical faculty. Well all know which side belongs to where.
You gotta feel bad for people who are blatantly stupid, but are too deluded to see it.
While I agree the religious demand to make everyone conform to Christian morality is not going to save anyone, neither is "loving everyone" going to fix anything. True love hates what is wrong, hates what destroys a person, hates sin (which destroys a person). The only solution to sin is to have it forgiven by Jesus Christ. But if you don't think you are a sinner, you will never see your need for mercy and will never come to him. The alternative is an eternity of punishment apart from God.
Then why not just go with "loving everyone" as opposed to "being a jerk to people", seeing as you believe neither approach is going to save any souls anyway?
I happen to believe loving everyone can fix a great deal. But even if it doesn't, it couldn't hurt. I'd rather not be a self-righteous sanctimonious asshole, if it's all the same. To me, that seems worse.
lol @5:34. I know not all Christians are that stupid... but these guys sure fit the stereotype.

You don't have to agree with someone in order to have a conversation with them and the threat to marriage is sin in any form

@sireenn Your point is valid and I believe that having a sense of humor about American political correctness is okay.
