i remember that my cousin was over at my house that night and my step mom was home alone with us and my father is a griffith police officer and i remember him being called out it was so scary and then the tree fell on our house!!!
i lived in griffith, but we had just moved afew days before this happened! we were in the Mansards..does anybody know if it hit in that area? it looks like it took out some stuff by PayLow
It sure was scary. It didn't hit me, but touched down a few blocks from me and ran through Griffith. I had my furniture and life in the Reserve Storage unit and it was destroyed. Looks like I'm going to be staying here at my temporary location a bit longer now. I hope the rest of Griffith cleans up quickly and can recover easily.
Last night Chicago Fox News had a snippet of how slow cleanup is going.I'm so glad, because I'm tired of hearing that power is restored to everyone. My husband voiced his displeasure with the town to one of the council members(or something like that)and he appologized, but what is that?!It hasn't gotten lights in my house yet.
I live in Highland and yeah it was really crazy, the sirens went of twice and we had no power for over 12 hours. We also got water in my basement and I saw my ps2 and my guitar hero stuff floating :(
From what I hear though,Highland is waiving permits for electrical work so people can get their lights on.The town of Griffith is not,the bastards! This event has made it clear that we'll be moving as soon as we can. When you can't depend on the town to help it's people get things that are needed done in a timely manner, then it's time to look elsewhere.
i live about a block away from where most of the damage took place.....it was seriously scary shit that night.....my heart goes out to all that were affected by the storm.
Tried making 2 comments and neither posted.Anyways,I'm next door to the house who lost it's roof off of Ridge in your pictures. Her roof hit our kitchen while my oldest was heading into the basement.Knocked glasses out of the cabinets and scared him.We were extremely lucky, and only have minor damage compared to some.
Im a block from where the video ended, on Jay. That last street they passed in the video was Oakwood, and like 50 feet south of the intersection, there is a car completely smashed by a tree. I couldnt believe how bad it was.
i live in that neighborhood. well, my dad actually. i was at my moms house when it happened, then i came afterwards to make sure my family was okay. we were very lucky to get no damage at all.
i lived in highland when this happened but now i moved to griffith
