I was born in 1961, but I wanted to be like my Dad. He was my hero and he listened to WCBS FM 101. The oldies Station in New York City. I say like what you like.
I was a teenager in the sixties but i like the fifties music the most. I had more fifties songs on my eight track player than sixties. I have always liked fast cars and rock and roll music. Makes you stay young longer.
@2Exotic2Fly2High. good for you,if you enjoy a certain type of music then go for it.this music used to excite us and yearn for more.It was always coming up with something new,and helped a lot of people through difficult times.

Reminds me of recently I went to a house to fix their heating, and they had just bought their daughter for her 18th birthday a reconditioned Wurlitzer juke box full of '50s 45's. I was drooling over it, so they gave me some sixpences to put in and play a few. Oooh loverlee!
This music "Rocks" and even if the young folks say they don't like it I have seen many of them tapping their toes to the tunes so pier pressure prevents them from enjoying this fabulous music,, what a shame
If you were born in 1930, then in 1945 if you survived the war, you probably would not have had a record player or be able to afford to buy records. You probably knew someone in your town who had one but you would have had to walk miles to their house. You could listen to records on the juke box in the local milk parlour and you would not have been able to travel and pay the cost of getting into a performance by your favourite artists. No ipods, no TV, no pop on the radio.

Been trying to pick some songs for my rockabilly band to cover.......and I've had this jukebox on repeat for about an hour. No closer to deciding!
Thanks for this! As a long-haired 27y old metaller, this stuff is great fun to play and just genius......

I wish I was born in the 20's, I would have a chance to serve my country in WW2 and get to listen to some of the best music ever made. It was just a different time back then.
