In general the US doesn't have great metal these days, but some prominent figures have came from here, Death, Megadeth, so on... and there not overrated just because there popular :/ i hate when people say that JUST because there well known, hell its a great thing ! they can live happly and also not worry about financial troubles as much! and Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian, and all that area has good metal, as well as most europe!

Are you fucking kidding? Obituary, Deicide, Atheist, Autopsy, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse and Six Feet Under for death metal. Slayer, Megadeth, Old Metallica, Exodus, Testament and Death Angel for thrash metal. American metal is amazing. European just has much more variety and more good quality bands (because of their numbers).
