  • I tried making two test videos. The first one I did using the demo normal (non-platinum) movie studio which only allows me to render with the normal templates. Quality is great on my PC but is VERY choppy on youtube (720p is fine). I made a second one using the platinum version demo making all of the changes you made. When I play the new one on my PC the quality is fuzzy/pixely and on YouTube it is still choppy in 1080p and the 720p quality is lower than the first. Any ideas?

  • @PartNinja

"Choppy" playback as you call it on YT has nothing to do with Vegas. That is determined by the speed of your Internet Connection, load on YT servers and the Bit Rate / Size of the original video you uploaded.

If your rendered video is fuzzy, then you need to increase the bit rate you are rendering to.

High detail and fast moving video needs higher bit rates to stay sharp.

  • @TemporalParadox1 - That's the confusing part. I can watch 1080p videos on other channels with zero lag or chop ( I have FiOS btw). It seems to only be my videos. Any by choppy I mean it looks like it is just 5 second still pictures with the normal audio in the back ground. Completely un-watchable. I can PM you a link to both of the videos if you would like to see (they are both unlisted). Original footage is shot using a GoPro HD Hero2 in 1080p/30 (MP4 format).

  • @PartNinja

Did you apply a "slow motion" effect ?

If you slow something down too much it will become a still picture.

Did you follow the strange advice that many other Vegas YouTubers copy and turn "resampling" off ? If you did, turn it back on.

  • I keep doing this but the video just renders in 480p

  • @HugeyBaby

Make sure your Render As settings have been customized to the right frame size.

DON'T press Upload to YouTube inside Vegas - this will re-render your video.

I have a video on my home page explaining all this.

  • on my sony camcorder what setting should i set the camera to record in 60p or 60i..and making the template to edit the vid should i set it up in 60i or 60p and then render it in 1080 30p..does it make a difference in editing the video in 60p as to 30p, has far as the quality goes

  • @phishst1cks

In the video above I explain clearly about how to set the Project Properties.

60i in a Video Camera = 30p in Vegas once you change the Field Order to None-Progressive.

Only record in True 60p Mode on a camera if you want to make a BluRay disc or intend to create some "slow motion" shots in Vegas.

YouTube will always re-render 60p down into 30p, so there is point in uploading 60p.

ALL video shown over the Internet must be Progressive Scan.

  • i just got this today and am looking forward to making some kick ass wow youtube vids. thx :)

  • Thanks for the advice...much appreciated. Will try this out or see if the funds will stretch to a faster machine. Cheers!

  • @ukjake39

    OK :)

  • When I render videos it takes hours..2 at least for 15 mins of vid. Is this usual? Appreciate comments. Thanks

  • @ukjake39

So I guess you are rendering 1080p HD Video ?

This always takes longer than anything else.

What CPU do you have ? 4 Core is what is really needed.

Are you on a laptop or desktop PC ? Laptops are always a bit slower.

How much space is on your hard drive ?

Is your Hard Drive nice and clean ?

A clogged up Hard Drive that has never been defragmented will slow things down a lot.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Thanks for your reply. Yes I am rendering 1080p HD. CPU will be letting me down it is an Intel dual core with 4Gb of RAM (laptop). Hard drive is defragged regularly and has 40 gig of space free. Ive also got an external drive with 1.6 Tb free.

I guess I am where I am with this setup.

t frustrates me to stick together say 4 AVI vids with a few fades between and then a title and then have to render for 2 hours.

    Ho hum :-/

  • @ukjake39

If you only have a Duo Core processor, I would suggest you down size to 720p HD Video at least - it should make some difference.

For any video editing, on any machine, it is a good idea to have your Source Video being read only from one drive (Drive A) and the rendered video being Saved to a Drive B.

  • okay so after its done rendering, nothing happens!!! :(

  • @Bboys1fan

What do you mean nothing happens ?

As soon as it is finished a small box comes up asking to view the file or play back the render straight away.

I made a video late last year showing where the rendered files live on your computer and how to upload them to YT.

The video is visible in the BIG list on my channel right now.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Well, after its done, the box just stays there...and i press open, and it plays, but i dont know how to save it with my other videos.

  • @Bboys1fan

    It is already SAVED!

Please watch the video I suggested.

Your rendered video will be living in your "Documents" - Vegas MS Projects - your project.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Oh i found it!!!!!! ahhhh thanks so much!!!! if it wasnt for you, i'd be screwed with sony vegas, hahah. thanks again :D :D

  • @Bboys1fan

    No worries Man.

  • is there a video you have to have a DVD for my homemade movies ?

  • @daytheninja

Type "DVD" into the search box on my channel.

    2 Parter on basics.

2 Parter on making menus - this is a real good one.

    1 video on making chapters.

  • I have a problem rendering a video that is 1 hour and 20 min. long for a dvd. The program keeps on stating that my computer does not have enough memory and to close other programs. I closed out other programs and even cut out most of the video to see if it will render a 15 seconds video. Still not enough memory. I am using a Window Vista that has 4gb of memory with Intel Core 2Duo CPU T6500 @ 2.10 GHz, 64-bit OS with 166 GB of free space. I was able to render 30&10min. vid. before this happened.

  • @khmersinster

If you are making a DVD, then you should be rendering to an MPEG2 DVD Template.

DVD's only create MPEG2 Video Files, so using a 1080p will end up being converted into a 480p or 576p by DVD Architect.

It is a TWO Part process.

#1 Render to MPEG2 DVD Video Only

#2 Render to AC3 Dolby Digital Audio Only

Make sure both files have exact same name.

Import your Video into DVD Architect and Vegas will match the Audio for you.

  • @khmersinster

    **ALSO**

Make sure you have downloaded the latest free update for Vegas Movie Studio.

It includes a fix for Memory Access.

    Sony Creative Software - Downloads - Updates - VMSHDP11 Build 295.

Rendering 1080p to "too high a bit rate" will overload Vegas because it is only a 32 bit program. Lower your bit rate or swap to 720p template instead.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Thank you, that did the trick!

  • @khmersinster

    Great.

  • If it dosen't let you customize template, click hide filter options, Thumbs up so people can see!

  • Thank you your videos are really helping me get use to how to use sony vegas 11 hd platinum never done this before so i didnt have a clue where to start thanks again :)

  • @Redalien68

    Glad to help :)

  • i don't have the customize template button.. please help :)

  • @WakeUpForTheNWO

If you are only using the basic version of Vegas "Vegas Movie Studio HD 11", then I am afraid you are limited with what you can customize.

  • how to render the video format to become AVI???

  • @shineejjang2

You choose Video for Windows .avi in the Render As window.

However, it is not a good idea to render .avi for YT.

The file will be be MASSIVE - 10+ GB's

.avi is not compressed and is not meant as a finishing codec.

.mp4 or .wmv are best fo YT.

  • @TemporalParadox1 i tried it and u right,,it's really explode ,,it was about 11GB ..

and thank u so much for the advice ^^

  • @TemporalParadox1 100th liker

  • @TemporalParadox1 wmv throws the sound off.

  • @leonss102

I have never had a problem with WMV.

Be careful with setting your Frame Rates properly.

    Example:

If your source video was shot at NTSC 29.97 fps and you then render it PAL 25 fps - this can cause a slight audio sync problem.

*Also make sure you have downloaded the latest build version.

Vegas MS HD Platinum 11 is now up to Build 295

Go to Sony Creative Software - Downloads - Updates

  • @TemporalParadox1 that's exactly what it was.I had it at 60.00 when it was 59 frame rates.thanks alot man!

  • @leonss102

Excellent - now pass the message on.

  • I just have a question about Sony Vegas.. I was trying to render a video of mine, and it only rendered 80% of the video? Why is it doing this? D: I tried doing it twice, and it stopped at 80% both of the times. Then Sony Vegas froze, and I ended up losing my video.

  • @HaiKayJay

There could be many reasons why it is stopping.

#1 Your Hard Drive is full.

#2 You are rendering to a bit rate that is way too high - and it is producing a Monster file that is to big for your computer. PLEASE make sure you are NOT rendering to .AVI - this will make 10-100GB file.

For more help, you need to send me the full details of your computer, video you are using and Vegas render settings.

    Send Private Message.

  • @HaiKayJay

#3 Make sure you don't have "Render Loop Region Only" selected.

To find out more about this problem, type "loop" into the search box on my channel and watch video.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Yes, that's what I did. And for some reason it stops at 80%. I have no idea why.

  • @HaiKayJay

Turn "render loop region" OFF then.

I explain it in the video tutorial I directed you to.

  • thank you

  • @pilotf18

    :)

  • Okay, so I tried .m2ts but this doesn't render at all, in fact it freezes the program when I hit render and the percentage complete is 0% and the time to completion is constantly rising. Also with .m2ts once I have the video on the timeline, and click anywhere on it, it doesn't display the frame under the video preview. It would say: 2..... , like it's still thinking. I think that this may be why it doesn't render, but i'm uncertain as to how I would fix it. Once again, any help would be nice.

  • @ThatsMyBish

What are the specs of the video you have recorded ?

If you have made a 1080p 60 frames per second video recording, then that could explain a lot.

You need to bring the video recording way down to a manageable size.

Make sure you have any other programs turned OFF while using Vegas.

Leaving a program like FRAPS turned on will certainly drain your system of resources.

Dell says your computer has an i7 CPU - so you have enough power.

  • @TemporalParadox1 I have a BF3 video recorded in 60 fps... Are you sure there isn´t a 1080p 60 fps choice? I hate how slow it turns out to be compared to the original!!

  • @Lulzalex

You wanted to know why your computer is grinding to a halt - you now have the answer.

Double 1080p is a HUGE task for your CPU to process in real time.

YouTube does not accept 60fps video - it is going to convert it back into 30fps.

So it is better to do the job now yourself.

Only BluRay Discs accept high frame rate video.

  • @ThatsMyBish

Make sure your Computer doesn't have any "Energy Saving" programs turned ON, which deliberately cap you CPU from running full power.

Type "sleep" into the search box on my channel and watch video.

  • thanks u u helped me alot!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @ThatsMyBish

How old is your computer ?

What type of CPU do you have ?

    Operating System ?

Which rendering template did you choose ? .mp4 or .wmv

  • @TemporalParadox1 My computer is 1 month old, its an Dell Inspiron 15R, 15 processor 6gb memory, using Windows 7. And the template is .mp4

  • @TemporalParadox1 Actually I just got it to render, but its only showing the top left portion of the video.

  • @ThatsMyBish

Sounds like you are using Screen Captures from a Hauppage Recorder.

.mp4 from this unit does not work in Vegas.

You have to save/record your screen captures to .m2ts - this will work.

  • @TEMPORALPARADOX1 When I'm chosing a template to render in, I dont have the Customize Templete button. Where would I find it?

  • I got it now. Sony AVC is attractive due to the usage of GPU. But with 16 Mbps is 25% larger than the VBR of MediaConcept with 12 Mbps. For most of my "Kids&Pets" clips (with only subject's movement) 16 Mbps seems to me too much. I'll stay with CBR 12. When having lots of movement (sports, fast changes) I will render to CBR 16. But thanks for warning me!

  • Tx. a lot for the hint. I went down to VBR 8Mbps, I will take your advice with 12. I paste here a short definition (not mine), I hope you agree to it:

CBR - Constant Bitrate: Constant size but variable quality, like a straight cylinder.

1-pass VBR - Single pass Variable Bitrate: Constant quality but variable size, like a balloon

2-pass VBR - Two pass Variable Bitrate: Constant average quality and constant size, like a bean bag - some parts with more beans, other with little or none

  • @vale25cos

The only reason I mentioned CBR and VBR, is because Sony AVC/MVC rendering uses a Constant Bit Rate and MainConcept AVC/AAC uses Variable Bit Rate.

I didn't know which one you preferred to use, so I gave the numbers for both.

  • Sorry if not exactly to this topic. Is it a problem if rendering a second time (keeping the same bitrate)?

I am thinking to cut the useless parts and join a bunch of short clips, making a file of a 3-15 minutes, adequate for watching on TV. Later on, if I will have time to make a real movie I would start from the rendered mp4 (consequently i remove immediately the huge MOV files made by the camera).

Technically it is possible, I've tried, but do I preserve the quality?

  • @vale25cos

I understand what you are saying.

As long as you render your new video to a decent (high) bit rate, you wont loose any noticeable quality.

So for constant bit rate rendering, use 16Mbps or higher.

For variable bit rate rendering, use Max=24Mbps (or higher) & Average=12Mbps (or higher).

  • I havnt bought the program yet but ive had older versions of pro and i use after effects, but before i buy the program, i would like to know, under the properties option on each individual clip in the timeline, can you select how/if to resample? Force resample, disable resample and whatever the other option is called?

  • @FluzzyWuzzy

All the settings you mentioned, are still available in the Movie Studio version of Vegas.

  • Voice Gentle and smooth

  • Do you have any idea on how to make it look 720p when on youtube its only 360p or 480p

  • @fearsomewarthog

I have already made a video showing how to render 720p - it is right next to this one.

Type "720p 11" into the search box on my channel to find tutorial.

If you are using version 10, swap 11 for 10 in search.

  • very compicated

  • @yash7405

Yes it does seem that way when you begin, however once you have your favourite Project Property and Rendering Templates made, you only have to make a couple of clicks - that's it.

  • Thanks man, Helped alot :)

  • @MaddScootM

    :)

  • Can you use this to edit gaming video EG a HD PVR video out put plz someone help

  • @fearsomewarthog

    Yes you can.

There is nothing special about screen captures - it's all video.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Thank you soo much i have seen this on amazon for £20 a lot cheaper then sony vegas cheers

  • Hey, I was messing around with Sony Vegas and by accident I clicked an X or something, and now the place where I would see my video is gone! Any help on how to get it back?

  • @Panchasquito

Type "lost" into the search box on my channel and watch video.

  • iight so i'm about to render, but i can't customize the template... any help?

  • @STCL24

Sound like you only have the budget/basic version of Vegas Movie Studio, which does not allow any customization.

  • @TemporalParadox1 will you still have good quality and HD if you can't customize the template?

  • @misstorihilton

As long as you have set your Project Properties correctly - frame rate & screen size

    AND

these match the rendering template you choose, the quality should be OK.

I have never seen a picture of then BASIC version of Vegas, so I am in the dark a bit on this one.

  • @TemporalParadox1 check out my video naked sims.....it has 1080p HD. Thank you SOSOSO much. I really apreciate it.

  • Thank to for the video, they really help. My question is can you batch render like in sony vegas pro?

  • @acurry25

    No.

    Only Vegas Pro.

  • @TemporalParadox1

    Okay Thanks

  • @MultiNikos12

I just wish that more people on YT would discover that my tutorials "ACTUALLY WORK" !

    Thank you :)

  • @SikE68

You can edit ALL video with this software - where it comes from makes no difference.

It also accepts projects made with Photoshop.

  • Best video on YouTube, God bless you, man!!

  • @henrikossauros20

    Bless you also.

    Peace :)

  • Before I was merging my Canon clips with freeware using x264, no editing.

Now bought Platinum 11. Tested 1080p renderers as you showed in tutorial. I decreased the VBR to 8 Mbps (fr. 33). On HD TV I see no quality decrease.

The Profile/ReFrames/GOP are unknown to me, just saw that Sony AVC is using lower values than x264. Is not necessarily an error.

My PC has Nvidia and I can use GPU, a 50% decrease of rendering time comp. to MainConcept. I could set that one too. I stay with Sony.

    tx.

  • I joined with x264 like this: Format profile : High@L5.0 Format settings, ReFrames : 5 frames Bit rate : 14.2 Mbps | 15.8 Mbps --CBR==19 HD Platinum 11 with Sony codec: Format profile : High@L4.0 Format settings, ReFrames : 2 frames Format settings, GOP : M=2, N=12 Bit rate : 14.7 Mbps Maximum bit rate : 16.0 Mbps I use 1920x1080 Canon MOV files with 23.97 fps, 33 Mbps. Can I get L5.0 and 5 frames? MainConcept w/o 1980p. Can be set this?
  • @vale25cos

What do you mean by "I joined with x264"?

Which exact Rendering Templates/Codecs are you referring to with the settings you have listed?

I don't think you will find any software that can render to the exact settings that Canon records to.

The profile I showed in the tutorial is what most Pro Editors would tell you to do.

I definitely don't know everything, but are you over thinking what has to be done here ? I say that with kind intentions by the way.

  • @TemporalParadox1 How do you View video Clearly in Sony Vegas Window? Mine was Little bit blurred I have good Video card.

  • @Roxas23100

    Change the Preview Window settings.

There are obvious ones that you can see above the window, and there are also three settings accessed when you right-click. Muck around with different combos.

Scale Video to fir Preview window can often make things look blurry - turn it off and set the screen size to Quarter or Half.

  • to youtube**

  • vegas got a straight to upload feature

  • mine just goes really fast i havent used it one week now wont render plz help just goes so fast??

  • @ZuhMeZ

I can take a guess at what is happening.

You have "Render Loop Region ONLY" selected by accident.

Type "loop" into the Search Box on my channel and watch the video to get explanation.

  • Oh i love you :D Fav+Like+Sub <3 :D

  • @Z00MCoD

    :)

  • When I Try Rendering my finished product it says can not render system Low on memory

  • @TheLegendaryFro

1080p video files are very large - some older or slower computers can't handle this.

    Here are my two suggestions:

#1 Try using Sony AVC Rendering Templates ONLY - but make sure the bit rate is not above 5-6MBps.

#2 BEST SOLUTION - Render to 720p HD Video instead - the files will be much smaller and easier for your computer to process. I have a 720p rendering video if you have a look.

  • Okay thanks- but really what I was wondering is if you update from the 2011 version to the 2012 version when it comes out is it free? And great I'll be sure to watch that video. ;)

  • @iwannacellphone

No one can get free updates for new versions.

I think it will be a while before another new version of Vegas Movie Studio is released - V11 has been out that long.

However, once you own a registered copy of ANY Vegas software, you qualify for discounted upgrade pricing direct through Sony Creative Software - Purchase - Upgrades. When new releases come out they normally offer specials even cheaper than what the website usually says.

  • I have a question- sorry this doesn't really have anything to do with the video! If I get this version of Vegas movie studio, will I be able to update to the 2012 version for free? Or will I have to pay again? I'm thinking of asking for this editor for Christmas but I'm worried about the 64 and 32 bit thing and I want to be able to update if they come out with the 64 bit version... Thanks a ton!

  • im using sony vegas pro 11 but it doesnt have any internet render thing

  • @rspsEIKO

I am making new render videos for Vegas Pro 11 right now.

Things have changed quite a bit.

Watch my video on how to render HD 1080p using Vegas Pro 10, to know how to set the Project Properties. For the actual rendering part, use the Main Concept AVC .mp4 Templates - you will find Internet HD template there - you may want to reduce bit rate quite a bit though to what they have set.

  • When i render my film it says: "Error while attemting to create the media file"

  • @NiceVidsify

What is in your Project on the Timeline - anything unusual ?

What are the specs of your computer ?

Which exact Rendering Template did you choose ?

  • @TemporalParadox1 I am making a gameplay/montage of some BF3. Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE. GPU: Nvidia 560 Ti. RAM: 8Gb 1600Hz. Windows 7 64 Bit. I used Internet 1920x1080-30P customized to 26 000 000 Bps video and 192 000 audio.

  • @NiceVidsify

My first guess would be that your bit rate is set way too high for Vegas Movie Studio to handle.

Because VMS is only a 32bit program, it can only access a limited amount of RAM and CPU power.

So, bring your Bit Rate down to say 10MBps - maybe even lower.

When I render for YT, I normally go no higher than 8MBps - you still will get OK quality.

Let me know if this works.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Ok, it's a little sad that it's a 32 bit, but after setting it to lower bit rate it worked thx :)

  • @NiceVidsify

    Great news to here.

Maybe the next version of Vegas Movie Studio will finally have a 64 bit option. Almost every new computer being sold now is 64 bit, so it definitely is time to put 32 bit programs in a museum.

The new Vegas Pro 11 is very fast for rendering and has a huge improvement with the Preview Screen reducing lag while editing.

  • hey, i'm new to this program and only render in the program as i cant use it yet:L but i have a SONY handycam DCR-SX33E , so what setting's would i have to do?.. as i know u say 'If you use a .... click this' but i'm not sure what the '....' is for my camcorder:) please help! because i want to upload in the best quality possible!!! thankyou:) xxxx

  • @DancingStar1510

I will send you a private message.

  • @TemporalParadox1 thankyou so much:)

  • for some reason i don't have the option to customize templates like you do on the bottom left corner on your screen at 5:53

  • @biginjapanrunetotem

If you only have the budget "Vegas Movie Studio HD 11" - then that has limited customization ability.

Only the Platinum version can do this.

  • I did of course. But customizing a Bluray template that is the result. In fact now I'm using other templates as a starting point before to customize them. No problem with the Avchd templates.

If I well remember I got the same problem with Vegas pro 10.

  • Hi Dex I made some tests customizing the templates in Vegas pro 11. If I customize a Bluray template after the rendering I have no audio on the finished video ( of course I checked to include the audio ).

To get the audio I had to customize an Avchd template.

    Is that normal?

Then why is it suggested to use a Avc template instead of a Avchd one?

(My videocamera shot videos in Avchd).

    Thanx!

  • @muaythai4lifelife

When you Customize the Template, go into the "System" tab and select .mp4 (instead of Video Elementary Stream) - this is what was stopping the audio.

I will be making some updated tutorials very, very soon to cover the problem you discovered.

As you already know, if you still had Pro 10 installed it would have been easy to fix.

  • At the moment I'm using an old VGA cable plugged into the graphic card thru a dvi adapter.

Not the best with a full hd monitor and a modern Gpu.

    Thanx!

    Cheers

  • Thanx i just watched it again, I think i can make it now :) I forgot a passage that now is clear again.

Another question very different from vegas.

What kind of cable do you use to connect your monitor to the pc Gpu?

I have a Hdmi cable that probably is not the correct one. Colors and size of icons are awful. It hasn't the version written on the cable... It could be a old version. I know there is the latest version 1.4 . Maybe I need that one.

At the moment I'm using an old VGA cable plugged i

  • Hi Dex i got vegas pro 11. Only a problem: once i am on the rendering window.. There's no way to build/adjust a template for a 25p - pal needs.

Then I noticed on the avchd folder there is not Internet sub folders like on Pro10 or movie studio 11.

  • @muaythai4lifelife

Yes I see what you mean - some of the older pre-made templates are missing - could be an oversight and something that needs fixing in the next build release.

    However, all is not lost.

Just select one of the templates that is already there are hit "Customize" - then you can key in the right settings and save it as a custom template - if you are unsure, right down the settings from VMS11 or Vegas Pro 10 and use them to create the template.

I will message Sony about this.

  • @TemporalParadox1 thank you. i'll try. the problem is that the templates to be customized are interlaced only, not progressive. avchd or blu ray ones are in (i) :(

  • @muaythai4lifelife

In the Sony AVC/MVC list, pick a BluRay Template.

When you then click "customize" you will be able to change it from i=interlaced back into p=progressive.

The more I think about it, the more I think you have found the first "bug" in this new version.

Not an uncommon thing when software is released.

As I said in my last message, I will contact Sony about this, because it is going to cause confusion for a lot of people.

  • @muaythai4lifelife

    PART ONE:

Hey Man - I just worked out something that you will love - how to transfer the missing templates into Vegas Pro 11.

Open up Vegas Pro 10 (make sure Pro 11 is OFF).

Open up any old project and go straight into Render As.

Select Sony AVC/MVC - Select one of the Internet Templates that you want to transfer.

    Now click Custom.

Go to Template description at the very top and ADD an * before description and then press Save icon.

  • @muaythai4lifelife

    PART TWO:

Now select the next Template you want to transfer and do the same process - keep doing this for every template you want.

Turn OFF Vegas Pro 10 and boot up Vegas Pro 11.

Go into Render As and back to the Sony AVC/MVC Templates.

When you open the list up you will now see all your OLD templates - you can also hit the Triangle to Favourite them.

Hope you are happier now :)

This is a cool little trick.

  • @TemporalParadox1 thanx so much!! you're going to kill me :P i recently built up my new pc, i haven't S_Vpro 10 anymore :P

    only the newest 11 d'oh!

  • @muaythai4lifelife

At the end of the day, it is still easy to create your own new custom templates.

Just start with one of the BluRay ones and then modify it, re-name it and save it.

If you can't remember the full settings, then just watch my rendering video for Vegas Pro 10 and you will see the normal settings.

Also, have a look inside the Main Concept AVC/AAC templates - that's where they have put some Internet templates.

  • Hi there. Can you do masking (i.e. cut out the pix) in Vegas 11? Someone else said you cant do it in this version.

  • @brynmag

You can do masking in Vegas Pro - not in Vegas Movie Studio.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Ok. Thanks. That's a shame though.

  • can I use these settings if I use a capture card to record gameplay, also I tried doing it myself and I got it to render to 100 percent then what do I do from there.

  • @Boogster0196

Yes you can use these settings for ANY video that is 1080p.

Not sure what else there is to do after you have rendered a video - that's it.

What do you want to do next with the new video ?

  • @TemporalParadox1 Put it on my youtube channel

  • @Boogster0196

    Press Upload in YouTube.

Then navigate to your Documents folder - Vegas Projects folder - your project - Renders.

  • Ya that's what I was afraid of but I'd rather find that out now instead of taking hours trying to figure it out and getting pissed about it. Thanks man

  • ya i have a feeling i messed up somehow cause its not showing how to customize the template when you go to render as around 6:40 is yours pro or platinum?

  • @hunter3285

I am using Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11, as it says in the title for the video (part of the Production Suite package).

If you are only using Vegas Movie Studio 11, then that only has bare bones basic functionality.

  • I have the 50 buck version of this from best buy. I cannot seem to get to get to the section where you can edit the video Template at 6:50. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

  • @mcKrawll

Are you using Version 10 or 11 ?

If you are using Version 10, then the rendering window is slightly different to V11.

I have a Tutorial showing how to do the same thing with V10.

  • @TemporalParadox1 It's 11. I just got it yesterday. I can do everything I need except Edit rendering templates.

  • @mcKrawll

Well I don't know what to say, because I showed exactly what to do in the tutorial.

When you select Render As, you may need to click inside "Name" box at the top "Output File" section - because sometimes it the whole window can freeze for 10 seconds.

    Then select a Video Template

Then click Customize Template - now you will be in Edit Mode.

Name and Save New Template - OK - Render.

    That's it.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Yeah, I don't have the Customize Template Button. All I have is the about button. Thanks for the help anyway. I think the issue is that I have Vegas Movie Studio HD 11. and you are using the Platinum. It is very disappointing that it wouldn't come with rending options like that.

  • @mcKrawll

I always recommend that the only version people should buy is "Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 Production Suite" because of how many features it has.

  • @mcKrawll when you go to render without the customizing part does it stil take forever even though you followed what he said?

  • @hunter3285 Well, I now have the Pro version. And I can customize my renders now. For before, it would take forever and give shitty renders. Not only that, the rendered video would be a HUGE file. It was just bad all around. I was better off using PS Elements premiere.

  • What if I'm doing 1080p at 60 FPS?

Do I follow the DSLR step?

  • @FluffyBoy32

Just change the frame rate to 60FPS and do everything the same.

Upload it to YT and see what happens.

There is a problem with 60fps on YT though - I don't think it is supported - I really don't know.

Also, by making it 60FPS 1080p, that is doubling the file size - which equals massive - difficult to upload and download for a lot of people.

    Just experiment.

  • @TemporalParadox1 Ok, Thanks.

If I record the video at 60 FPS, can I render it out in 30 FPS (Pretty sure YouTube has a 30 FPS cap as of now...)? I know I can but will it effect the quality?

  • @FluffyBoy32

Just do it and see what happens - it should work just fine.

You always have to make some compromise when making video for the Internet.

  • Great Work!!!! Always Great TO Find Excellent Help These Days

  • @DaWreckThreat

    Thanks :)

  • i already have this program but i cant find "insert velocity" to make da video faster or slower where is it?? and abou 3d how do i must to render it? i mean red and blue or wich option do i need to render my video and play it on the tv?? help please!!!

  • @mauind

Velocity Envelopes are only available in Vegas Pro - they are not in Movie Studio.

I don't own a 3D camera yet, so I haven't done any work with 3D in Vegas - maybe soon.

You can go to Sony Creative Software website - Support - Training

Then look at the Webinars - they have done a full hour training on using 3D.

You can watch the tutorial or download it for free.

  • @TemporalParadox1 ok, so theres no way to insert velocity envelopes??? any solution???

  • @mauind

You can still slow down or speed up video using the CONTROL key + Dragging end of video with mouse.

  • If you do get a 3D camera make sure you let us know once you've tried out the 3D features, we'd love to hear what you think!

Can't wait to see your next tut - send it our way once you upload it, keep creating!

  • That’s great to know, have you tried out the 3D functionality in Vegas Pro 10 yet? Would be interesting to hear what you think, or if you’ve used it for any projects.

  • @Sonysoftwareofficial

Well I don't own a 3D camera yet, so making some 3D films is on the wish list at the moment - but I have been thinking about it (if that is what you mean by "3D functionality"?)

    I do work in x, y and z axis.

  • Great tutorial. What do you think of Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 so far?

  • @Sonysoftwareofficial

I haven't had any problems/crashes so far - so that is always a big plus.

The new filtering screen for selecting Rendering Templates is a great idea for new users - that would have helped me heaps when I started learning 4 years ago with not much knowledge.
