  • Hey Warner Music Group! SUCK IT! LOL

  • Went to see Queensryche @ Hammerjacks in Baltimore 84 .. . pulled up a chair at a bar overlooking the stage .. got beer and had the best front row for 5 bucks ,Too good to be true .. During Take Hold of the Flame .. Geoff climbed the PA and grabbed my hand during .. The band knew I was into what they were doing .. I remember Wilton shaking his fist back at me when I was giving "Hell Yeah's " .. To this day .. The Very Best Concert ever .. A Memory

  • the best when you wanted to start a psychedelic night! good times

  • I figure Priest, Maiden, Sabbath, and Floyd influenced these guys when they were young. You can hear it so clearly on songs like this one.

Further down the road, the 'Ryche absolutely influenced bands like Dream Theater. Hell, Rush might have began the prog-metal thing, but Queensryche perfected it and brought it to more listeners.

Great stuff, even to this day. Timeless and utterly epic. \m/

  • I was lucky to go and see dio at Hammersmith Odeon in London back in October of 1984, seen Dio many times, but this time his guitarist wasn't up to the normal standard...BUT, there was Queensryche in support, made up for an otherwise lack lusture concert.

Geoff was rather a bit screechy at the time, but it never put me off of them, bought all their albums apart from the last one, think it's American Soldier, can't see me getting it either, they just don't quite have it with the later albums.

  • when they made the 'best of' album they left out so many great songs. this song is just one of many, many great songs this band put out.

  • I saw them open for Quiet Riot back in the day. They were touring in support of their EP, I was only their to see Qeensryche. Also saw Fates Warning open for Queens Ryche with John Arch. Fates was backing Awaken the Guardian and Queen's was on tour for Rage for Order. LOL.....Sorry if you missed it!!!!!

  • Listen to early Priest and hear the influence ... Its amazing!!! Especially "Sad Wigs of Destiny"

  • @oganmy9 I always thought they sounded like Iron Maiden.

  • The wind as it names you.Epic.

  • Beautiful song!Reminds me of 9th grade,I brought the album to school and got heckled from a friend because I pronounced their name Queensrich haha I didn't know, but I knew they were great and quickly became one of my most endeared band's for their great composition's and live performance's.I saw them open for metallica in late 88' on operation mindcrime and they owned Metallica and that's why I think Metallica shortened the tour time with them because they're a hard act to follow.Hail Queenryche

  • @blitzspeer that's funny, I thought it was Queenscreech!! lol Never saw them though... dagnabbit!!! 20 yrs ago woulda been better, for sure. Mindcrime rules!!!!!!

  • Wat an epic band. Not the standard eighties metal band, they transcended metal. It wasn't sex drugs and rock and roll. The were provactive, thoughtful, politically aware and active (mindcrimes) they didn't follow, they cut their own path. Geoff Tate is possibly the greatest metal singer of all time.

  • @Timotaa HE IS YOURS AND MINE

  • @Timotaa well said but geoff is with out a doubt the greatest metal singer of all time

  • One of my all time favorite bands and favorite songs

  • ya, i saw these guys in a bar for this album. they were like 2 feet away. back in the day. then a month later, the album broke and they jumped on tour with kiss. they were tight, and the high notes at the beginning and end of take hold were spotless.

  • @2skullscrushing Fuk ya! I saw them in San Diego 1985 with Kiss. Awesome show, I was hooked after that.

  • no filler, every song is epic!

  • super album !!
