@bluesrockfan36 What's with Ron Paul supporters constantly asking if people have served? As a matter of fact, yes, I'm an active duty officer in the US Army, and was enlisted in the US Air Force before that. But Jeremiah Wright also served, and it doesn't make him any less anti-American. I do understand your underlying point though, that it's easy to declare war when you're not the one paying the consequences... well taken and agreed.

However, we shouldn't swerve from one extreme to the other.

The question is mainly due, that most people who advocate for constant un-declare, never ending wars don't comprehend in the slightest the dangers troops have to face.

I'm not anti war at all, don't get me wrong. I'm against going into war under a U.N or NATO banner, and never asking once the people's representative, if they want or not go to war.

They're hardly extremes, believe it or not, Paul's position has been heavily mis-reported by the media.

@bluesrockfan36 I agree with your views wholeheartedly. Simply put, the threshold to go to war should be higher than it has been since the second half of the 20th century. However, a dirty little truth and hidden benefit of these "small wars" is that they keep our enemies from becoming powerful enough so as to drag us into a catastrophic war down the road (i.e. WWII & Cold War). That's the rationale. In Iran's case, it seems like a very legitimate case where we need to take out their nukes.

I understand your point, but I fail to see it.

Our presence in the middle east only helps the radical fundamentalists gain recruits. And we financially can't stay there much longer, or we'll end up like the Soviets.

My fear about Iran, is that attacking it would trigger WW 3.

But besides, what makes you believe that they have a nuclear weapon, or they're trying to get one?. There really isn't much evidence for it.

@bluesrockfan36 The nuclear capabilities that the Iranians are pursuing far exceeds what is needed for energy purposes, and clearly goes into the realm of atomic weaponization. Also the delivery systems which they keep testing (missiles) and the genocidal rhetoric from their leadership.... The biggest strategic threat would be for Iran to use terrorist groups as the delivery method for their nukes. Hezbollah with a nuke would not even need to detonate it to have us and our allies by the balls.

That's simply not accurate. The most outrageous report, which mind you didn't base it's sources claimed Iran was enriching Uranium to 20%. You need over 95% for weaponization.

There is no genocidal rhetoric, only extreme misquotations. Look it up if you don't believe me, you know when Ahmadinejad was quoting Kohemini.

Why would Iran use a terrorist group?, it's very easy to trace the source of a nuclear weapon if detonated.

Then Iran would become a parking lot by Israels nukes

They *do* have nuclear weapons, and they're heading into a civil war. Now that wont be pretty.

Why not focus on the real issue, instead of the imaginary 'could' be issue?.

There is again, no evidence Iran is weaponizing it's nuclear programs. They never refused and inspection by international bodies, and has extended invitations to the IAEA inspectors

IAEA never found Iran in non-compliance of the non-proliferation protocols

He's for a strong navy, to protect trade routes, and using submarines to defend ourselves, which mind you are very powerful weapons.

He's only against undeclared wars, and giving totalitarian powers to the executive branch. That only occurs in tyrannies.

Occupation, preemptive undeclared wars (without any imminent threat to the U.S) goes against the very core principles on which our Republic was founded.

We shouldn't be so eager to give away our rights in such manner.
