wow there's a lot of aggressive people here, sorry but you havnt won me over on the hybrid idea.there are quite a few petrol cars that are far more economical and much cheaper.a car is only as economical as the person who is driving it, to get anywhere near the advertised mpg you have to work hard, even in a hybrid.the hybrid is economical in the city but is beaten by small diesel/ petrol engines out of town and overall.so why not skip the hybrid step and jump straight to electric for city use?

Now all the brakes in every Prius have been adjusted, but they always worked. This was an absurd non story spun up by bored journalists and encouraged by other motor manufacturers. 2 million Prius sold, mainly in the US, and early this year Toyota posted record profits, because, people want to buy them.

The first time I drove a Prius I couldn't get it to move. There was a breakdown truck driver, who just happened to be next to me and he couldn't work it out either. We spent an hour trying to figure it out. I read the manual twice. The handbrake was a foot pedal release, I had to phone my friend (the owner) who didn't realise the problem and had to get a taxi out there. He got it moving in about three seconds. Love the Prius, though. They stop very, very quickly due to the regenerative breaking.

Other than Fully Charged and Robot Wars, this is the first I've seen of the Red Dwarf cast outside of the show. It's very charming. Craig Charles is amazing - witty and relaxed. The banter is great. Awesome concept Robert. Just wish I was a bit better with British accents.

good to see you guys getting more opportunities and more stuff going on these days especially Craig. I remember as a kid one time seeing him recite some of his poetry live when he came to Seattle and it was phenomenal. Then, a while ago I decided to do a youtube search to see if I could find any of his poetry and the only thing I get is a depressing nintendo power magazine that he was forced to host in the early 90's. I thought that was way beneath a performer of his caliber.

I am always interested in comments like yours. There;s a very popular series of myths about hybrid cars which have been encouraged by certain parts of the press. Chemicals used in manufacturing cars are harmful, any new car has a toxic trail no matter what powers it. A hybrid car uses considerably less gasoline once it is made. If you look at the overall lifecycle of a hybrid, it's impact is massively reduced. If you do the same with an all electric car, the impact is miniscule. Gas is dead.

Wouldn't it be great if we no longer depended on gas (petrol)! However, we still need to produce the electricity that charges hybrid/electric cars, and there are many issues about electric car batteries that need to be confronted.

@carpoolUK More to the oint all hte chemicals in a battery can be completely recycled and reconditioned so that the fact these chemicals are dangerous or problematic to mine becomes irrelevant, their life cycle is also massive, just my two pence :)
