  • Hey man sick improv, love it. May I know what scales you're using? I've been dying to get this kinda sound for a lil while, but I can't figure out what the scales or modes are

  • Awesome guitar work by the way

  • Lol all those DVDs are guitar lessons?

  • subbed ;)

    any tips?

  • @IIKEViNll Yup, practice your scales and dont listen to bands with crappy guitarists aka pop punk bands, who your idolise will shape your playing so pick a legend. Randy rhoads is the best place to start.

  • Hey, what program u used to make the backtrack? BTW, AWESOME!

  • i'm working on improvising and i suck... any tips? and i'm not a complete newbie in guitar so if that helps for tips thanks. thanks in advance

  • @basketprojoe yeah practice your scales to a metronome, and dont just play them up and down.

  • @dontfearthereaper89 ah ok thanks. only problem is i can't play for a few weeks now because i have a few ripped tendons. i'm gonna be way behind.

  • Dude that was unbelievably amazing =O... I know now what I want to achieve in my playing... first, what scales? and I'm just getting the hang of scales now, but I can't figure out how to combine them to make a solo... how?? =)

  • @7thS0Nofa7thS0N Learning to improvise musicly is just something you have to practice until you can do it, you can get fast and acurate with scale excersises (and thats a huge step) but you just have to make backing tracks and move around the scales and put up with sounding bad until it gets good. Iv recently had a student who is easily as good as me after a few months using my method but hes a natural songwriter he just needed a push in the right direction with the scales and technique.

  • Nice+Awesome collection of Dvds bro ;D

  • @xXGiRLWiCKeDXx haha thanks

  • Dude, most of us use our parents electricity lol

  • @5TheKingOfPop5 *high five*

  • oh if u were just in my country !! HAHA u have progressiveness in ur blood

  • @Saleemkhair High five

  • give bracking track pls D:

  • *---* u are a hostia

  • ok i have to ask whats all that black stuff all over that beautiful guitar.

and nice video keep it up

  • @RWC5150 lol its a womens face with her hair going all over it, and its made from vinal (basicly a big sticker) i used to work at a sign merchants and i got bored one day :P

  • @RWC5150 lol its a womens face with her hair going all over it....and some bats, and its made from vinal (basicly a big sticker) i used to work at a sign merchants and i got bored one day :P theres a shit load of other stuff on the other side too, quotes, bats, naked women ect.

  • Love it! :D

  • Awesome solo....find ur self a band dude

  • @Raptar231 Cheers man, i'd love to. Its difficult to find good musicains that want to play the same kind of music as me. Its all power chords or thrash for the sake of it.

  • that is one fricking insane improvisation! i REALLY loved the part in the end where you turn the 6th string down and played some really heavy riffs! great sounding lick!

  • @japmeet123 cheers man, thats the riff from a song i wrote...i need to do a video of that one.

  • @dontfearthereaper89

definitely man, you got a fan :D

  • i want the tabs! :D

  • @Henrik614 im not sure i could transcribe it if i tried, im an improvisor unless i compose it first. i can tell you what scales im using.

  • @dontfearthereaper89

yea can you let us know what scales you're using? That sounded awesome!!

  • How many scales are you using in this solo?

  • @TheBlackKratos the seven modes, the 5 pentatonic/blues and the harmonic minor at one point. Thats all i use really, just basics.

  • awesome solo!

  • @MrGuitarfreak1993 Cheers Dude!

  • omg...9 minutes soloing?

  • Man you own :D \m/

  • @DaveMurray96 Thanks man :D

  • why don't you move to Montreal? my band needs another guitarist

  • @raokin466 is that in canada? Would love to but i have no money at all.

  • @dontfearthereaper89 yes, Montreal is in Canada

  • @dontfearthereaper89 sell some of those movies

  • care to share tabs?

  • @windblow143 tabs for this? there arnt any it was just improvised, and so was the backingtrack onto a drum loop.

  • @dontfearthereaper89 well it's understandable. I was just thinking maybe you had made a guitar pro version of your compositions. There great actually. But I guess you don't have the time to do that. :D

  • @windblow143 I dont have guitar pro anymore unfortunately, i have hand written tabs for the last tommy but i have no idea where they are. They were just incase i forgot how to play the song (and i have :P)

  • The solos are pretty cool, the riffs too. I was like :-)

But when you went drop D at around the 7th minute and started playing those riffs I was like :*-D

  • @static1shock thanks dude, drop D is cool, when used in moderation.

  • @dontfearthereaper89 I'm kinda neutral on all those alternative tunings since it's pretty new ground for me, but you sir use it masterfully.

  • BEAST!

  • @Marvin427 :D

  • @17solstice Ur melodic solos are fucking badass? Are you into megadeth by any chance?

  • @mattdd05 thanks. No, i actualy dont know any of their stuff. i always ment to get into them and get some of their cds, but i never did. Can you recomend any of their albums/songs.

  • @dontfearthereaper89

hangar 18 is pretty awesome guitarwise,

sudden death has some insane solos

theres loads man, download spotify unless youve already got it an just listen to some of their stuff theyre awesome

just thought id butt in on this conersation btw aha

  • @superste53 will do, thanks :)

  • @dontfearthereaper89 Yea well Killing Is my business, their first album is good but its poorly produced cuz most of the money went to heroin. The Mechanix is a good song from that album. Listen to " Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?", and "So Far, So Good, So What! " and "Rust in Peace". Those are all albums. Some good songs from those albums are: In My Darkest Hour, Holy Wars, Peace Sells, wake up dead, poison was the cure, set the world afire.. btw what scales are u using in the beginning?

  • @mattdd05 I'll get listening, thanks man. And to start with im using the pentatonic /blues scale then i mix it in with the minor/major scale and the modes ect. Pretty much all i use to be honest.

  • amazing skills! how did you learn to solo like that? did you need to learn music theory or take classes or did you just learn by yourself?

  • @nqflip aww thanks man, you need a basic understanding of theory because solos are made up of scales obviously, i chose to learn what theory i needed to play the kind of music i wanted to play but im working on the rest now because i wanna teach. I did take lessons cause i spent the 1st 2 years teaching myself and i picked up some really bad habbits like only using downstrokes lol. But basicly i learnt scales, got the right technique and got a metronome to develop speed/accuracy. hope it helps.

  • @dontfearthereaper89 no problem man, you deserve it. ive been playing for 2 years and im clueless about theory.... im trying to learn now about the circle of fifths.... but i cant even remember all the notes on the strings yet :(.... im thinking about taking lessons.... but i dont know if i should....

  • @nqflip Learn your scales and all the positions. Then all you need is the key the song is in and start on the root note of the scale. You should start with the basic major/minor and pentatonic scales at the least. But as for learning the notes, I find it comes easier once you know the scale shapes. Trust me, I'm no expert in music theory, but if you learn the scales at least you'll be able to jam with ppl or the many backing tracks on youtube.

  • What song is it? xD

  • @17solstice yup, but its easyier than most les paul copies because theres 24 frets insted of 22, but if you want a les paul copy with easy access go for the schecter solo 6, or the washburn idol if you dont mind a bit of a cutaway.

  • if you had to choose, that ec1000 or the ones with the EMGs? I've been debating on what ec1000 to get. I shred, but I enjoy playing rock and blues too...

Which do you think is more fun??

I can hear that this one sounds magnificent.

  • @Nades129 I have a guitar with emgs but its a washburn, and it is good at high levels of distortion.. The guitar i play in the vid doesnt sound that good when i put the distortion over 7, it becomes very muddy cause they are not high gain pickups, it still sounds great for solos at high gain but not chords so much. Its good for me cause i dont use the heavy metal level of distortion, more of an 80s hardrock/metal tone. But sometimes, just sometimes i wish it had just a bit MORE y'know?

  • hey....man awesome playing............me a very big fan

....could you give me some tips on continuous solo improvisation...i know my scales...my soul and little techniques..just cannot put them together....plz help...i need to perform live in a month

  • @23himanshu Thanks man. Well start by making yourself some jam tracks or downloading some and just improvise over them, over and over again, the only way to get better is to just practice. Look at zakk wylde, paul gilbert, alexi laihos improvised solos and learn from them, thats what i did, i wouldnt be able to solo if it wasnt for them. The guitar techniques zakk wylde dvd by lick library was a great help to me also.

  • yeah prctice is seriously in need..i have been playing for around 17 months now. Atleast i am glad that i can cover slayer!..but anyway your licks seems to just flow all together..! i play from scales to scales....but then at the end you listen to your work..it is as if..broken at many places...yes a little bit of nice seconds come..but still.! And at the end you get frustrated ! :\ :D .... Thanks for your help...and you play some killer melodies...keep it up. God bless you..

  • @23himanshu No problem, anytime. I couldnt even play a solo at 17 months so your doing better than i did, just keep up the good work and you will be were you want to be in no time.

  • that is totally the chords for sweet child o' mine's solo section! lol.. nice improvisation

  • @g1taro its based on a bass line from a motorhead song and it may be the same as s.c.o.m but i wouldnt know,i like guns n roses but i hate that song (mostly cause its overplayed, but also because the intro is almost the same as the Rush song xanadu which is a much better track). But the chord progression Em, G, A ect has being used a million times. The simplist chord progressions are the best to improvise over.

  • line6 spider 3 pride. (Y) best 400 bucks i've spent.

  • @franky442 it is a really good amp for the money, and its so much better than even the most expensive processors for recording.

  • @franky442 @franky442 it is a really good amp for the money, and its so much better than even the most expensive processors for recording.

  • hey you should really invest in a gibson les paul, I love their tone more than your esp/ltd copy. just a suggestion

  • @ChanielDang i would love a les paul, i dont have £2000 to spare, and i think the les paul studios look cheep and nasty,so its a custom shop or nothing

  • @dontfearthereaper89 well you could get a standard or something, not all gibson USA's are studios hahaha. gibson customs get very expensive though.

  • @dontfearthereaper89 going to wait until i can afford a custom shop gibson and then iv got a guitar for life

  • Really nice cover!!

Do you know where I can find the Eminor Scale on internet ?:P

  • @Steeloxs cover? its an improvised solo over a chord progression from one of my songs. :P and yeah websites like ultimate guitar have loads of scale lessons ect, iv never used them but i know they are on there. if not just search for minor scale shapes on google. Its best to learn the 5 minor pentatonic scales first, its like walking before you can run.

  • @dontfearthereaper89 I didnt ment to say cover, but im used to :P I didnt know I wrote that down, but anyway thanks for the info :)

  • Wow this is inspiring! You have many great licks there dude! Think i'm gonna use some of them myself :)

  • @seb110893 feel free :)

  • i like this man

    great

when you began to play the guitar ??

  • @ArtemArtak Thanks and around 5 years ago

  • is that a bandit 112 amp?

  • @Hunt2deth43 No its a line 6 30

  • Solos like this is so inspiring 2 me and helps me get new ideas nothing but a 5/5 from me keep it up

  • @trane2dcs Thanks man :D, one of the best coments i'v had so far

  • this is badass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! big fan of melodic metal and death metal

  • @Wolfthatplaysguitar Thanks man. HAha me too ,there is nothing better than melodic metal, Gives me a rush.

  • wow nice!!! love the guitar, love the solo, keep it up man!! 5/5

  • @Gu1tarShr3dd3r Cheers man, meens alot

  • is there anywhere you know of where i could get a backing track like yours???

  • I made it myself with a boss BR 600 took as long to make as it lasts. Just a drum loop with a chord progression repeating. Its just a part of one of my songs that the solo goes over extended. You can get free software like reaper to do the same.

If not lick library have backing tracks for diffrent styles but they will cost you a couple of £ or $

  • @tonkoisafatmess make one yourself

  • @tonkoisafatmess make one yourself

  • how do you improvise so good in metal ... my improvisation doesn't completely suck but it sounds bluesy .. can you give any tips casue this was the best stuff i've ever heard

  • Thanks man :D. im just using basic major and minor scales, with the pentatonic and blue scale. The minor scale aways sounds the strongest and most melodic to me. Also be quite aggressive, a wide fast vibrato, using pinch harmonics or semi pinch harmoics. Picking the notes insted of hammers gives it more aggression. Im not the best guitarist in the world by far but i got to were i am in about 4-5 years with lots of scale excersises with a metronome (basicly music push ups) Hope this helps

  • @dontfearthereaper89 man thanks for the

reply and the tips ... you really sound

fantastic and with much experience i mean

i know the scales too but you use them

right for solos i just go up and down...

another prob is the speed ... i play for 1,5

but i don't seem to reach the lvls i want ! and

believe me i've seen every method on the

net ..... thanks again and keep up the good sutff !!!

[lol @ the new reply system of youtube ]

  • where in the midlands are you living, im at uni in the west midlands atm

  • in derbyshire. which uni are you at?

  • im at Keele, not far from Stoke on Trent, ive been to derby a fair number of times.

  • sick

  • Thanks man

  • @dontfearthereaper89 I agree, Since Children of Bodom are kings of Finnish rock, were a dying breed bro

  • haha too right, nobody plays guitar like alexi

  • Dude where the hell do you live?! lol Jam with me!!!!

  • lol the UK

  • shit i removed your second coment by accident, sorry man. Thats what i get for trying to do stuff when iv just woken up. But cheers, maybe i should just move over to the states, find some decent musicans to jam with.

  • @Colton527 That would be pretty badass sir, sadly, there isn't a lot of left that understand what real music is, we're a dying breed here, but in europe the music is pure, most of the time, were making a comeback I believe tho

  • Not in the uk there isnt, everyone trys to sound like fallout boy. finland is the country that has all the good/unique bands. Although im into a german band called edguy right now.

  • great playing and great guitar :P

  • thank yee very much

  • dude, if you cant find anybody that's into your style..you need to carry your ass down south.

half the musicians down here wouldn't let you leave until you agreed to be with them with that sound. great tone, playing, and guitar.

  • iv almost ended up in a couple of bands but they wanted power chord happy pop punk, and i see that music as an insult to bands that actualy learn to play. It sounds like a good idea, but im stuck here for now. Gonna record some demos and see were that gets me. Cheers mate, very helpful coment :)

  • so you came up with all these licks?

  • yeah, im just moving around scale boxes, spent a long time playing scale excersises so i could do it, and theres a a few from my songs that i use or modify to fit the backing track.

  • awsome

  • thanks dude

  • i loved that riff at 1:37 im trying to figure it out right now lol, nice playing though

  • cheers man, if you need help let me know

  • that is A LOT of dvd's xd

incredible playing btw, you are a killller :D

  • haha thats only half the collection, i love my dvds.

and cheers man, need to get a band formed so i can put some solos into some songs. But i dont know anyone else who plays or likes actual hard rock/ metal :(

  • well with your skill, i think you wont have a problem forming a band. I like & play in a rock/heavy metal band an we have a gig in this friday so if you can come to bosnia you are welcome to play with us xd

  • cheers man. would love to, but bosnia is a little outside my bus route

  • hell yea dude this shit pretty kickass awesome playin man

  • Cheers :) i like your enter sandman cover, very nice playing

  • thanks man

  • yes truly amazing. xD

    that was pretty sick dude.

  • Thanks man :)

  • :O you're really amazing dude!!

this is one of the best improvisations i've ever heard!.. it's really impressive.. i hope to be able to play like you some day... keep it up (Y)

  • Thanks Man, coments like that meen alot. if you want lessons you know were to come.

  • What scales are you using?

And what key is this in?

    Very impressed, btw.

  • A mixture of minor pentatonic, blues, and the modes, and i think i use the harmonic minor at some point too. An its in Eminor.

  • Thanks man. And *facepalm* at me asking the key. In the damn title and I didn't even notice. haha

  • haha i do stuff like that all the time

  • nice playing man, and in the second part it's a pretty massive tone :) i like it, great job

  • :) Cheers. meens alot.

Thanks to everyone for the nice coments, makes the scale excersises worth the time.

  • this is pretty badass

  • Thanks man

  • the verses, refrain, bridge ,chorus are every where..hope u get what i mean..good all in all..wish i can play like that

  • not really but thanks anyway :) i havnt being playing 5 years yet so dont expect perfection :P

  • cool ..uh how old r u

  • twenty

  • yeah and just excuse my bad english.. have a nice day

  • your english is fine.

  • love it... great... what's the name of that song?

  • thank yee, it doesnt have a name its just a chord progression over a drum loop. Was just a way i practice, and i decided to video it for a reason i cant remember.

  • Is that Dorian? Sounds pretty kewl :)

  • i think i use most of the modes at some point. cheers man :)

  • sounds fantastic, but i think you might be tellin porkies if you say you've been playing for only 4 years!

  • haha thanks. there are no porkies. it will be 5 years this christmas. scale excersises a metronome and a love of rock n roll, gets you there in no time

  • amazing <3

  • Thank Yee :)

  • pls xD

  • How long have you been playing guitar? :)

  • about four and half years.

  • How do you do to make it sound so fucking great? :)

  • thanks, i dont think it sounds that great but...sitting down with a metronome and going over scales seems to do the trick

  • nice, dude! it sounds like that u practice a lot :)

    keep on rockin

  • thanks man. haha not as much as i should do

  • AWESOMENESS :p

  • why thank yee

  • tis fine :)

  • 5/5

  • :) cheers

  • oh wait i forgot to ask, i dont suppose theres any chance of having a copy of that backing track is there? :-P

it was awesome, perfect for my playing and that. its ok if not man. but any way good solo, seriously.

  • not really, is was recorded directly on to the BOSS thing on top of the cd rack and i dont have a usb cable for it. you could easily make one its only a few chords repeated.

  • amazing man, doubt it was improvised on spot though. oh and lovely dvd collection :-P

  • haha of corse it was :P fair enough i was using licks that iv used before, but i use those scales enough to improvise on the spot with them.
