I believe it's ethical to take an edible trophy animal--so long as it is eaten (by humans, not used for dog food or somethng like that). That way, you have the thrill of a really exciting hunt AND 100% free-range, organic, lean meat for dinner. Not a bad deal!

The guide called it right so the guy didn't keep shooting. That saves a lot of meat. In a lung shot the animal will bleed out into the lungs. That way the meat drains before it can clot. In a head shot all of that blood stays in the meat. If you ever head shot something make sure to cut a main artery right away.(within minutes)
By the way a .300 is a nice moose gun. I prefer something slower and heavier like a 45/70 because there is less trauma to the meat.

Where excatly would you shoot it then? The head is a pretty irresponcible place to hit him. With such a small target its easy to miss and wound him. The chest is a better place to aim, sure you can waste some meat but the target is much larger and you have a less chance of just wounding him. Ya lots of times they run off 50 or so yards but dead is dead. Check out......poor thing.mod on you tube, its a video I took of a deer who got hit in the face from a bullet that was off the mark.

nice kill i've never been that close to a moose before, well actually i have but it was when it wasnt hunting season. the closest ive been to a moose when hunting is probably about 75 yards at the most. the farthest one ive shot was about 300 yards and that was without a scope, i couldnt beleive i hit it.

Atleast when people are out hunting they are getting fresh air, exercise, and aren't wasting gas or using up energy by sitting at home. nice kill i've never been that close to a moose before, well actually i have but it was when it wasnt hunting season. the closest ive been to a moose when hunting is probably about 75 yards at the most. the farthest one ive shot was about 300 yards and that was without a scope, i couldnt beleive i hit it.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with hunting. Its poachers that are hurting the enviroment, not hunters. Humans have been hunting for thousands of years. Atleast when people are out hunting they are getting fresh air, exercise, and aren't wasting gas or using up energy by sitting at home. the prey of the moose is plants/twigs, u kill a moose it dosnt eat the plant and it grows to a big pretty tree, or humans cut down the tree lay down some tar-mac and build some houses. do u live in a house, there's nothing wrong with killing one moose it dosent affect the habitat, but chopping down forests a building houses do i think.
