  • i am tryna do title sequences...it looks harrddd!! Though..:/ i wana make an intial idea for college relating to immortality of humans/celebrities. But how???helpp

  • anyone else notice that the music is in a different key to the original?

  • I wish the concept of opening was expanded as either a Pixar short film or Dreamworks first ever 2d film. I love it.

  • Great to see this phenomenal titles sequence again. Thanks!

  • Knock, Knock...

  • I LOVED THIS MOVIE......!!!!!

  • very hitchkokian

  • I'm playing this music when I'm looking for my cat.

  • From now on, I'm listening to this song while writing checks....

  • Count 1,2, 3 and hang on for dear life as it's is so inhumanly precise playing!

  • Expect Us.

  • one of the most creative movie intros I've ever seen.

  • 18 people didn't concur.

  • Why all the Widescreen stuff is 360p???

  • they should play this song in every airport in the united states

  • This movie was pretty much spoton on what happened except the part where he met his father after running away. frank never saw his father again.

  • Is his name really Kuntzel?

  • When I first saw the movie, I loved the opening title. I then quickly found this video and loved it even better.

  • i like the music :)

  • wow, it's a nice opening. sinical and comical.

  • Cool movie :D. John Williams is the number 1!

  • Catchy!

  • Tribute to Saul Bass...unique look and feel, pure Graphic Design.

  • Very creative.

  • its cat and mouse game, the song goes perfect with the whole movie, if you watch the movie every time carl is somewhere near Frank jr, this song starts to play in the background.

  • this looks soooooooooooooooo familier. was there a parody of it in the simpsons or like family guy? thanks!

  • @duhhxxxiloveyou Yeah, it was on the Simpsons

  • @duhhxxxiloveyou The Simpsons - catch em' if you can

  • i creep around the house to this song

  • Simpsons ^^

  • WOW! I love it!

  • Nice Film an opening

  • hehehe good song and im on my way to become a airliner pilot :D

  • Is this by Saul Bass? The opening

  • @bloodyspiderdust no, Bass died in '96 i believe

  • This movie was ACE :D

  • I keep remembering this whenever I play L.A. Noire... The music is kind of similar.

  • @SeverusLovedLily Wow really? Glad to see I'm not the only one who came here because of LA Noire.

  • i concur

  • such a good movie!

  • i remember seeing this opening, when i was a kid, and saying, "wow. this movie is gonna be good." and i was right. :)

  • best movie ever!

  • I took my artist name from the christopher walken speech in this movie. Its a great film. Spielberg can do no wrong !

  • WHAT'S THE NAME OF THAT SONG

  • love this movie

  • best movie ever

  • i love the soundtrack to this movie. it's brilliant!

  • The music, this sequence, the story and Leonardo DiCaprio's performance elevate this film to something remarkable. Everything else is superb as well. A criminally underrated Spielberg film.

  • One of the coolest movies I've seen!

  • Incredibly clever animation. I always look forward to watching this.

  • I'm surpriced that the name of the author of the book is shown so late.

  • @TheSnoozepie

Because half of the things in the book didn't happen or were exaggerated. The real Frank Abignale himself admitted so.

  • @TheSnoozepie Order of credits is a legal thing I think.

  • This is my favorite of all of Saul Bass's work. The text and the graphics really work well together and capture the whole concept behind the movie.

  • love the music...kind of some cool, progressive '60s jazz...this opening really set the mood of the movie...the dude who scored the movie is a genius...the graphics are reminiscent of some of the modern art of the '60s...

  • Cool opening. I haven't seen the movie, but if it is THAT good, then I'm totally in.

  • @rocknrollhell

It's a nice little film. Certainly one of the more successful small scale Spielberg entires. (Better than Money Pit, Always, etc.). Have you had a look at the trailer? I remember seeing it in the cinema. Classy.

    watch?v=hFj3OXVL_wQ

  • @TheConciseStatement Spielberg didn't direct Money Pit. But his name was plastered over so many 80s films that it did seem at the time he directed loads more than he did.

  • @Astorianadventurer

Oh yeah. Bad mistake on my part. Maybe it was one of his 'Presents' ones?

  • @rocknrollhell its a brilliant film, dont waste any more time and check it out - PEACE

  • really nice, love this one!

  • BEST SONG EVER AND SCENE!!! JOHN WILLIAMS IS THE MAN!!!!

  • John Williams has to be one of the top 5 best composers of all time.

  • @AlizeTemelVEVO Everyone should put VEVO after their username so VEVO can't take it!

  • I LOVE THIS MOVIE and this opening and this music ... :D

  • Are you referring to LS Lowry?

  • @PiranhaJaw22

    Yeah.

  • so creative.

  • Fun Fact: John Williams and his orchestra recorded this in ONE TAKE with NO REHEARSALS. Seriously. They opened the music for the first time, picked up their instruments, and recorded it by sight reading. That's how good these musicians are.

  • John Williams is brilliant!!!

Talk about an awesome opening credits!

How they came up with this, perfect music and a plot credits!

And Tom hanks and Leonardo DeCaprio are Amazing!!

  • best freaking opening ever. ever.

  • This a take on the classic credits Saw Bass did for Hitchcock.

  • Best opening credits to a movie ever...

  • Coolvetica....love that typeface!

  • "catch me if you can" film with leonardo dicaprio

  • just watched the movie again.. this story truly amazes me.. What a clever man Frank Abagnale Jr was

  • SIMPSONS DID IT!! SIMPSONS DID IT!!

  • epic

  • "Kuntzel and Deygas's memorable and idiosyncratic title sequence"

What are you talking about? It's just a well-done ripoff of Saul Bass.

  • That's art, folks.

  • This is my favourite movie of all time!

  • +

    Spielberg = WIN.

  • GREAT INTRO

    and an AWESOME SCORE!!!!

    :D :D :D :D

  • One of the best Opening credits I've ever seen, great music too. One of the best Spielberg movies.

  • Best movie of Spielberg and the best music of Williams :) Tom Hanks :)

  • I love this movie. It's my favourite and the tune is the catchiest tone ever.

  • i feel like i watched the whole movie now?

  • The best opening credits sequence I have ever seen, including Maurice Binder's work on the James Bond films. Ingenious tactic to use paper cut-out animation enhanced by CGI, as opposed to regular all-digital or cel-shading/digital ink work. Many composers seem to lose their spark after a while, but in my opinion John Williams has consistently shown over his almost-50-year-long career that he has incredible rabbits to pull out of his hat yet. This is a great theme tune.

  • Who made the graphics for this opening tittle sequence?

  • @SCQ88

Kuntzel and Deygas. You can spot their credit at 1:40.

  • INCREDIBLE!

  • I just watched the movie, love the music, thanks john williams

  • John Williams FTW

  • The Simpsons spoof of this is awesome!

  • what is dis tune!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is anyone know, what kind of program used to make some intro like this?

  • SEARCH SAUL BASS

  • best title sequence to any film (including bond films)

  • I LOVE THIS MUSIC!!! Makes me wanna go out and do something devious ;)

  • gotta love it!

  • this is now my ringtone, LOVE IT!!

  • First time I saw this pictures and listened to this song, was in the Simpsons, and I got really really scared!! hahaha

but it's a beautiful song... just the sequence is a little creepy :3

  • @SussiDiaz

LOL. Scared?! Watch out! It's that episode of The Simpsons where Maggie starts violently masturbating with a crucifix!

  • @TheConciseStatement W-H-A-T??! :O

  • @TheConciseStatement Is that a real episode?

  • sounds like danny elfman to me

  • I like the final little piano note at the very end

  • I learned how to play the beginning on marimba! So awesome!

  • Best title graphics since the movie Seven. Great job.

  • Beautiful!!

  • Saul Bass is flipping in his grave at this thievery, er, I mean "compliment".

  • music is awesome

  • The best 2:33 minutes I've ever seen in youtube.

  • I want this as my ringtone

  • @dbyrnerulz you probably could make it your ringtone depending on the type of phone you have. Although it wouldn't be the whole 2:33 minutes for the ringtone yet it would be an awesome one.

  • @dbyrnerulz

@Sadyechester is right. Take one popular, trickier example - the iPhone. With the iPhone you can only have a ringtone up to 40 seconds. To base a ringtone on a full music track : Use a program like Audacity to precisely cut out the piece you want OR adjust iTunes' Start/Stop Time on your track, convert the track with the AAC encoder, and remember to reset your original's times. Then rename your new file's extension to m4r and ensure it's in your iTunes library for the phone to find.

  • I love Leonardo di Caprio <333333333 and this is the best title sequence ever.

  • I bet Spielberg & co. had a lot of fun while making that flick. one of the most imaginative opening credits in movie history for sure. reminds me of credits for Pink Panther movies.

  • Outstanding !!!!!!9/10

  • really good work, they really thought it over !

    just great xD

and of course leonardo, who else ?? :P

  • Simpson's copied this right? :P

  • @RedNorthern

Don't know. I know they did Mad Men though.

  • @TheConciseStatement no, Kuntzel and Deygas did NOT do the Mad Men opening credits, though both of these credits do use a cool, minimalistic style. Imaginary Forces did the Mad Men opening.

  • @moustachers

Didn't say Kuntzel and Deygas did it because user RedNorthern didn't refer to them. I just said The Simpsons did a Mad Men tribute.

  • @RedNorthern yea they did an episode where Liza and Bart are running after their parents !

  • @RedNorthern yeah, they made a spoof

  • @RedNorthern

I they did something similar yes.

  • @RedNorthern

    Yepp, season 15 episode 18.

  • @RedNorthern yep

  • @RedNorthern yup

    great simpsons moment

  • @RedNorthern they didnt copy it

they made a PARODY of it

  • i want this ring tone D:

  • I remember when I saw this at 16 and how I wished I could have done the things this man did. Go around travel the world livign a stylish life with gorgeous woman.

  • Great movie. Good music too

  • I love kinetic typography! The fluidity and elegance of the presentation gets me every time!

  • The best Opening Title Sequence EVER!

  • one of my favorite movies

  • just watch what a great movie

  • Love the book (havent finished) and I havent seen this movie, but this is such a classy/cool opening >_0

but where was Jennifer Garner's name on the credits???

  • @RedShoes201

Yeah, that is a shame. This was released in winter 2002, and Alias only started in autumn 2001, so perhaps she wasn't quite famous enough for that one scene to get her onto the opening titles. They did devote a nice little featurette to her character on the 2-disc DVD though.

  • @TheConciseStatement Ellen Pompeo also has a part as a stewardess, but her name doesn't appear in the opening credits either. Probably because it was before SHE became famous for Grey's Anatomy.

  • @irkhanbasc

I think there's a slightly weaker case for her though. It's not so much a whole scene as just a Gilligan cut.

  • @RedShoes201 its a very good movie...hilarious, for all of leonardo's antics and escapades.

  • one of the best movies ever made. why cant hollywood make movies worth watching anymore?

  • Tom Hanks= The Best

  • just realised that Nina Simone has an album cover which is identical to the bit around 1:00

  • name of the music pleas

  • this movie is fking awesome..one of the best movie ever..

  • there was a techno remix done to this tune from the opening credits, has anyone ever heard it or know what it's called?

  • The intro totally spoils what he does later in the movie. This is an awesome movie though. :D

  • @SkateShoeReviewer

Spoils is too strong. Foreshadows is closer. I can't remember anyone telling me that while watching the film, they still had the specific episodes of the title sequence in their head, and that spoiled the unfolding of the story.

  • what's the music please??

  • The better part of the movie (by far).

  • In one episode of Simpson he copy this generique!!

  • sounds like

    skream - midnight request line

  • I saw this movie for the first time

    I LOVED I!!!

Leonardo and Tom did an amazing preformance. And Leo's character was so clever

    9.5/10

  • I love the fonts in the opening sequence. Great attention to historical detail. Do they have a name for a font expert who can match fonts to different periods in history? These were clearly late 50s, early 60s fonts. I don't know how I know that...they just have that look about them.

  • Comment removed

  • Very stylish, impressive. Hats off to the graphics boys and John Williams.

  • this reminds me of "The adventures of prince achmed"...especially the different color background for each sequence

  • Lol..

  • Amazing !

  • coolvetica!

  • hvis noen norske leser dette... jeg synes at "de ukjente" herma sykt etter denne introen! enige?

  • @heihererjeg45

Well I'm not Norwegian, so, you know...

  • @TheConciseStatement how can you tell?

  • @heihererjeg45 Enig :D

  • @heihererjeg45 Har du ett problem med det????

Det er jo en dritbra intro

  • can some tell me 2 questions its really important ! :-)

first question : How could he (Frank ) pass as a lawyer?

    and

second : why did frank START forging checks :-)

    thanks

  • where the fuck is this on itunes???????

  • Unfortunately, this opening sequence was 10000 times better than the actual movie.

  • gosh I love this film<3

  • i love the beat to this

  • Love this movie, I believe it desserves more of an 8/10 (perhaps even leaning towards the 9 end of an 8) vs the 7/10 the uploader seems to have bumped.

  • @Utharas (1/3)

Just to defend that decision for a second, when I think of the 8s or 9s of Spielberg's body of work, it's generally stuff like the original three Indiana Jones films, Schindler's List, maybe even Saving Private Ryan, and possibly even his constantly cinematic and ambiguously menacing TV movie from the 70s Duel, which really put him on the map as someone who should be in the movies rather than telly. I couldn't honestly put this in the same league of filmmaking as those classics.

  • @Utharas (2/3)

I don't think Spielberg intended it to be anything other than, as he says in one interview, "a rich dessert", and that's certainly what we got in the finished film : a small scale character drama of a boy looking for a father figure (Spielberg's films are so often about the theme of a broken home, informed by his own parents' divorce) with some slightly comic, slightly melancholic touches. Doesn't say anything profound, but it's an enjoyable journey with nice production design.

  • @Utharas (3/3)

Incidentally, just to give you an idea of where my head is at, to me Toy Story 3 was genuinely, like you say, an 8 leaning towards a 9 (and it may well be a 9 with further viewings) because the script and emotions extracted from that film were in a totally elevated class to the norm. But it's not like I copy and paste the critics' consensus into my head. For instance, like Catch Me, I felt ultimately Inception was a great ride worth about 7/10, yet couldn't say it was much more.

  • @TheConciseStatement but still it WAS a good movie all the same

  • @pippozg

Agreed. Like I said before, it's actually quite a long film and it's a neat trick to sustain your attention for that length.

  • good movie 9/10

  • Yet another Steven Speilberg master piece produce.
