  • Rick Rubin brings out the best in every band/artist he produces. I've yet to hear of a record he produced that was a turd. I miss these guys, part of my growing up

  • great song great video

  • This has always been my favorite "tfh" song, i like the guitar, and the chorus.... the whole band rocks!

  • they were out at the same time as the black crowes both with similar sound but i think guys have more attitude and rock alot harder then the crowes.

  • great tune

  • this is realrock n roll what happend. todays music suckssssssss.

  • RIP this band and the members that rocked it...damn they were really..REALLY good!

  • Four Horseman rocked in West Tennessee

  • your gona loose this man!!!......SHIT that we did!!!

  • poor mans AC/DC.

  • @GuitarOfTruth Wouldn't compare them to ACDC. More like Black Crowes. These guys blow the Black Crowes away.

  • @jonbomm I think these guys were on same label,DEF JAM records.

  • @GuitarOfTruth

Why do you bother watching it, if all that you are going to do is put it down? If ya don't like it, don't watch it.

  • @cjzmom74 WTF? Its youtube you douchebag. This is what happens .Its not like I logged onto the four horseman's own fanzine website, and started spouting shit. I am just here sitting on my fat ass eating 'corn' chips flicking through random videos, and writing whatever comes into my mind AS IS MY RIGHT! The four horsemen dont kiss ass. They tell it like it is. I dug the album, but it aint rocket science. Just straight ahead rockin a la AC/DC. But from the corner store. Stop whining.

  • @GuitarOfTruth What the hell did you get so defensive and nasty about? I was doing the same thing that you just "spouted" off to me, that you were doing... AS WAS MY RIGHT! If you can't handle repercussion from the spew that comes out of your mouth, then keep it shut. Name calling and shit? Seriously? What are you 10? And it sounds nothin' like acdc, learn your bands dude...

  • @cjzmom74

? #cough'# jailbreak.?.....#cough#...erm...rocker.....touch too much...high voltage? If you think the four horsemen never heard these tracks then I guess we just have to beg to differ. If you listen to them at least and tell me these bands dont sound like each other then we have a starting point.

  • This is so ultra! This is philosophy and words to live by. Hope there is a concert schedule out there for all the fans who just love y'all. Please post for devoted fans.

  • killers

  • By far the best rockin blues riffs EVER , and the harmony the band has is awsome i cant stop ROCKIN this album , and to throw you 1 more bone I got a set of tired wings tattood on my neck i love this music .

  • One of the best rock n' roll albums ever.

If you disagree, that's ok...you're wrong.

Some of the most memorable leads and the distinctive voice/range of the late, great Mr. Starr.

Big fan of Dimwit (even from his Pointed Sticks/Subhumans days). He was a big influence on my drumming.

    RIP.

  • they should have got the singer to the band WANTED to replace the singer.

he kinda looked and sounded like him and had never been signed before, plus he was an LA musician at that time too.

  • Thanks Dave, Ken was his name, I forgot, glad to great to hear both you and Ben Pape are alive and well, keep rockin', I miss the mighty Horsemen!!

  • Love these guys, Haggis is a good friend still, I talk to Dave from time to time-I am sad about Ben and Frankie, we will miss them and I hope the music lives on-love these guys!!

  • @illuminata8 It was Dimwit and Frankie that passed away. Ben is still alive and well.

  • fukin ehh mate

  • Gotta love the Horseman! To the 1 dislike...seriously...dude...get over yourself and have some fun! lol

  • Good song.

  • not many can match Frank Starr! the cat was cool!

  • these guys kick ass and then some,i sure wish they would have made more kick ass tunes..................i rememeber playin this tape over and over and allmy buds was like change the fuckin tape man but i didnt ha ha

  • I just love the way this song beats you over the fuckin head! Screachin twangy brutal guitar licks one on top of the other. ...and slide guitar metal (or, at least metal for back then)...Motherfuckin bad ass as hell!

  • @BEOSChops Perfection x infinity. I just thought about this too. Who else really approaches this vibe? Black crowes would be in the ballpark I guess but in the nosebleed. Love them crowes though.

  • i loved this album i bought it and played it over and over.wore that fucker out and have gone through 2 since. i wish i'd have seen them back in 94 or 95 when they played at the town pump in vancouver

  • they really kicked MFASS!!!!

  • whatever happened to REAL R&R like this ?????

  • @MICHELEMEENA ...I'm still doin' it! In the process of recording HEAVY MUSE, because I'm tired of the same old processed crap ('alternative', nu-metal', etc.). Four Horsemen never 'made it' because of the muzak biz. The internet is burying the bloated, redundant A&R-based labels...thank GOD!!! Now there is the need for "old school"...rock'n'roll with chops, feeling, melody, HEART and SOUL. Hold on...it's coming!.

  • I was very lucky to be on tour with these guys. I was a roadie for Wildside and we were with them for a few months. They were a great bunch of guys and Frank Star was alot of fun to hang out with, even though I always beat him in pool. They really were a GREAT band!

  • @gregoryvaughan1 lucky you :)

  • oh yeah , brings back some memories

  • ya, the good ol days!

  • Fucking LOVE IT.

  • Rock On

  • I luved this band back in the day.....regrettably I had to sell cd's back in the day for $.. I miss this album

    it rocks !

  • man its still so good to see people comment about them, if any ones looked at really old post.. if not than im proud to say once again the lead singer frank casamassina also known as frank c star is my uncle by blood, my dads brother, and to know that i had an uncle as amazing as him brings me more honor than anything else, love you uncle frank :D

  • @ssmike1234 He was a very good friend of mine back in the day..Miss Frankie.RIP

  • Simplemente, BRUTALES !!! eran muy grandes

  • Aww miss you guys, hope to see SH again in a few weeks-Big Hugs-XO

  • estos tipos eran los mas... Long live to Four Horsemen...!!!

  • Nice to see you still on youtube Dave - Almost ready to send ya a guitar video (for those who dont know, I was an ass a few months back, dave can elaborate on that if he wants =P)

  • New Horsemen site up. Holy shit. everything re-released and tons of extra stuff, shirts etc

  • where do u see this?

  • @thelovereaction Not everything released. I want to get a copy of thier second cd, "Gettin pretty good at barely gettin by". Can't find it. Not even on the site! Does any one know where to get it! It was the last stuff Frank recorded.

  • Awesome guitar playing Dave, I was introduced to this band through a friend becuase i had a AC/DC thing going on and still do.

I like the clean down to earth, no bull shit Rock and Rock.. The new bands today , can't even come close.. It too bad the way things go in life, must have been a wild ride. but the music will live on. Thanks for that.. U guys did some great music. , like this one , love the intro's Rick

  • lost this cd years ago. found it 6 months ago at a cd shop. 45 bucks used. never bought a cd more worth the cash! fuckin killer band! R.I.P gentlemen

  • ill second that. 100% sure he was in horseman when he died.

  • Frankie.....what wild times those were. I remember him being so excited when he got that damn bike that wound up killing him. That and the dumb bitch that backed out onto Sunset Blvd.

Frank was one of my best friends, and we helped each other get through some pretty rough times. Whenever I see these videos, I miss him terribly. If he were still around, he would be hitting me up for some cash at least once a week lol. That was Frank. To know him was to love him :)

  • Since you were friends with Frank - can you confirm he was out of Horsemen and doing Bone Angels with John Lowery when the accident happened? I saw them live and they killed; also have a 3-song demo of theirs that's very good. Wonder how much music they wrote/tracked at the time.

  • When I knew him he was definitely out of 4H, and he may or may not have been with BA anymore. I knew he was at one point, as he was showing me videos of some rehearsals. J5 and Randy Castillo. I can't remember the Bass players name. :)

  • The bass player was probably Terry Nails. J5 and Randy then hooked up with another singer and bassist to do Red Square Black after Bone Angels. You're right - BA must've already been history when the accident happened. The RSBlack EP came out in '94 - Frank's accident was in late '95. Maybe Frank even returned to Horsemen for a spell to sing on the album since 'Gettin' Pretty Good... At Barely Gettin' By' didn't come out until '96.

  • no no no no no, Frank was very much still in the Horsemen whe he had his accident. How do these rumors even start? And why? ..... he was doing gigs with a few bands that he was in b4 the Horsemen got back together ( Hard Luck, etc ).... but Frank would do anything for a blowjob or a buck. Just the way he was. But he was in fact STILL in the Horsemen when he crashed, trust me.

    Dave

    The Four Horsemen

  • Thanks for clearing that up, Dave.

But you can't blame people for thinking Frank was out of the band since he was doing other projects while T4H was seemingly M.I.A. for several years.

Btw, I saw you guys at the Whiskey with Wildside - good times. Too bad you ended up on that trendy shyster Rubin's label and your timing wasn't better - 'Nobody Said It Was' deserved much better.

  • Hey Dave,

I saw you guys at the troubadour back in the late 80s or early 90s (can't remember for sure). I had never heard of you guys but you guys were great.

Your guitar tone is one of the best. I remember you used a Les Paul but what amp did you use to get the tones on the first album?

  • Gotta admit, that was a wild ride.

    Thanks everyone.

  • Hi Ben! =)

  • Dimwit and Frankie R.I.P

  • You were great Frank!.

Remembering our adventures on the Sunset strip and all of the after parties.

    R.I.P. Love you!

  • fuck the gunners fuck axl. T4H was brilliant

  • 10 years since Frank is gone....... RIP one of my all time fav singers in the whole world......

Frank C. Starr grande maestro... desde Chile se te extraña demasiado!!!

  • these guys rock ive listened 2 this for years my fav album of all time poisen like a rusty nail count my freinds on these 4 fingers im 43 now goin to ireland rock cap of the world ac dc rocks june 28 2009

  • Oh hell yeah! One of my favorite albums EVER!!! This song was always one of my top two; but I can't really think of any I don't like........

  • the good old days. what a wonderful time and especially the music.

  • This band should have been household names. Frank C. Starr is the epitome of a front man and was the biggest rock star people never knew. Dimwit played with an animalistic groove that was simply perfect. Listen to his snare cut through the mix like a dagger. Wow! Haggis' Tele slide work and Lizmi's Les Paul tones are brilliant. Such a heavy in your face song with huge soaring harmonies. THIS is the way it is done folks. It's a shame that Frank and Dimwit were silenced. God bless TFH

  • Oh yeah... and how cool is it that dave takes the time to read posts and comment back? Pretty groovy.

  • for me it really gets no better than this.

Although nobody said it was easy sure comes close. I love the way these guys played. Nothing overplayed. Nothing uneccesary. Just good solid writing and musicianship. Saw em in 92 or so and it really was fuckin awesome. Crazy how a band rises and falls yet leaves such an impact on so many the world over. I will indeed raise my glass to these fine gentlemen and also to my fellow 4 horsemen fans. I mean that.,

    R.I.P. Frank and Dimwit.

  • well said

  • Ditto tbah00's comments.

  • DA SHIT!

  • Wore this cassette out too, driving to college classes everyday. CD has to be very rare nowadays, surely has been out of print since it's initial runoff back in '90 or '91. The Black Crowes started this whole "Roots Rock Revival" of the very early 90's, but the Horsemen were for sure a legitimate band. Love the cranked up tube amp sound and will take it anyday over the processed hi gain crap all over the place today.

  • Just grabbed a bootleg of em playing massey hall in toronto. 1992

  • Man, this brings back some memories. Although I have not heard this tune since the 90s, it has been stuck in my head for years. I wore this cassette tape out! Thanks for posting...miss the Horseman. They don't make them like that anymore. Pure ROCK N ROLL.

  • I saw them play at the Troubadour in Hollywood back around 1990? I had never heard of them. Not many people there but I remember the guitars sounded incredible - RAW! The lead guitar player was smoking hot!

  • This shit is powerful! I remember listening to this album for the first time, LOUD RAW KICK ASS IN YOUR FACE ROCK N ROLL!

  • Great Great honest band. RIP ....

  • Awesome!!!

  • Love it!!!

  • guitar strings don't sound much better, if ever, than this.......

  • Ben Pape, the bassist was working as a musical equipment tech for about 5 or 6 years living in Greenbelt Maryland. I haven't seen him in about 5 years. Capitol Records and ilks like them don't care about musicianship. All they care about is what kind of warped image they want to present to the public and then the force the airtime to get the bands famous regardless of if they can play or not. So great bands like this fall between the cracks.

  • love that slide guitar!

  • oioi!

  • hell yeah!

  • this be rockin.5*****

  • yep, rock on moon dude.

  • They did a tribute show for Dimwit at the Generator(Toronto) back just after he died...

  • RIP Frank C Starr and Ken "Dimwit" Montgomery .

I noticed Dave Lizmi has "My Song" on his Myspace page , another Horsemen Gem !

  • So sad these guys are gone ,but definitely not forgotten. They were my favourite band for years ,still are. I remember when they got back together in in the mid 90's and were hanging around and playing in Toronto a lot -where they recorded "Gettin' Pretty Good at Barely Gettin' By" , I kept missing their shows at RPM 's ,I always figured I'd see them next time. One of my only major regrets in life ! It was too bad that"Gettin' Pretty Good" didn't get heard, cause it was an amazing record.

  • dude you are sooo right,,,i used to play RPMs in the nineties so got lucky enough to see em,,,they rocked the house for sure,,,unbeleivable

  • They played at Juanita's in Little Rock. Way better than Black Crowes even! Love em!

  • I got to see these dudes twice in 91 and once in 1994 even got in a verbal with Frank back in 1994 he was being a fucking prick! I still love these guys the last "real" rock band RIP Frank and Dim!

  • loved this band! sucks nobody caught on to them and the dude is now gone. FUCK.

  • i dug these guys,i got to see them in 92' at a little bar in turlock,ca.they about tore the fuckin walls down.great memory-live on

  • every one id like to thank you for honoring him....the singer is my uncle...so keep the comments coming....its niceto know hes not forgoten..so thank u all very much

  • Lucky Guy.Frank was a talented man!

  • This band always will kick ass, and your uncle was one of fucking best singers in that era, all attitude. My respects from Spain.

  • i have a couple great pics of frankie on stage in syracuse new york back in the early 90's. if yo would like to see them.

    on youtube as violetscribe.

  • One of my favorite bands forever.

  • i still have the casette i bought in 92, played the hell out of it and it still works. gonna break down and buy the hardware to convert in to mp3 if it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

  • Early 90s hard rock was the best!

  • why why is it that the greatest godz of rock are only here with us for a short while an then there gone what an amazing band never could get enough of them r.i.p. yo!

  • Feel sorry for those who never came across these guys ...they are truly superb...and would have fitted right in the current music scene

  • Some of Franks best work in this song!

RIP sweet beautiful Frank. I adored this man.

I remember at a festival on L.A. downtown streets Frank seeing my little 3 yr old daughter and him picking her up and claiming her telling people this is my girl. haha that day was forever etched in my mind. He was a great guy, gorgeous and a kick ass singer. RIP Frank. Thanks for the memories poster.

  • Raise your glasses is right!! The four horsemen rocked on disc and live. saw them in detroit after this album came out. AWESOME SLIDE GUITAR WORK! Gettin pretty good at barely gettin by is good also. Check out LIARS AND THIEVES new album
