I never noticed this before, and I played the crap out of FM for a couple years before Shenmue came out, and Shenmue has since became one of my all-time favorite games. Wow, I'm such a noob!

People often forget that Shenmue originally started life as a Saturn game, developed by the same team/studio behind VF/FV/FM. It's a shame Shenmue never saw the Saturn release, the beta videos show it to be absolutely amazing.

The main point of this is, both Fighters Megamix and the Shenmue series were developed by Yu Suzuki of SEGA AM2.

This is Fighters Megamix, which takes characters from VF and FV and sticks them in one game (so it plays like VF/FV, depending on which mode is selected).

Fighting Vipers 2 was a Model 3/Dreamcast game.

This might have been the theme they created when the game was undergoing development on the Saturn. Possibly at the same time this game was released. So we all had Shenmue thrown at us without even realizing it.
