Yep still have the Schecter it was new in 1997 model 'S' I think was all they called it.... It was the most expensive guitar I had bought back then..... Ive tried others but never felt like parting company with it.
As long as you are familiar with a soldering iron/electronics in a general (ie know that some voltages can kill you and others are harmless) it is really pretty straightforward.
But for someone who had never soldered any components together in their life - well maybe it would be a bit much to tackle.
you did not use the recommended turret/eyelet board, right? I'm gonna build this "LEAD" ax84 project using a higher plate voltage with the hammond 270 ex (or the 370 ex for me in germany), but i will try an EL84 first. I think my parents would kill me fo the noise of an KT88 version or something like that :D
greetings from germany and sorry for my bad english ;)
nice job:) i just built one of these PTP myself and while it sounds great it has squealing issues. looking at your layout i should move the preamp filter caps closer to the preamp to shorten the b+ wires. lead dress is always a pain.

I like your Schecter. I own a 96 Traditional. Do you still own yours?

Nice riffs. Cool crunch too, not too overdistorted. A breath of fresh, pure, tube crunch amidst the ton of crap i've just seen around here.

Mine does squeal too actually :-) ..if both gain knobs are in the last quarter of travel....
... the 'threshold of squeal' is lower when you are not plugged in...

Hi there - actually, I dont know "exactly" what the wattage is - there is one EL84 output valve - I believe that means about 5-7 watts output.
Its plenty loud for house practice / jamming - but would not be loud enough for a full band with drumkit without some help from a PA
