@TaeblovBand Games Workshop did indeed. They did venture into video gaming a few times, but it wasn't until Dawn of War it actually took off good. I think it all started as a roleplaying game-ish by the name of Rogue Trader, then went on to become the tabletop.
I'm brand new to Warhammer, but I've got pretty much the basics down.
The only thing I can think of while watching this is: How the hell can/do you keep track of ALLL that stuff, in terms of their equipment, abilities, and special rules? You must have worn through several Codexes just for this battle, lol.

@thunderhammerx You should be able to get an online copy of the rulebook. The Basics section alone is about 40 pages or so. The whole rulebook is over 300 pages.
6800 points of Necrons...that's singlely the gayest thing I've ever seen. Why not just take a big Green and Black boxing glove and punch the opposing player in the nuts repeatedly.
@gurtznak Well, I suppose, with home-molded tin soldiers and GW stuff as my only frame of reference, I shouldn't make that kind of over-arching statement. It's just... 400-500$ a pop for a miniature, albeit a beautifully modeled miniature, when the most expensive (largest) GW model costs around 70$, it seems kinda steep.

AND they are Standard. Im 14 Too AND im Playing Tau. But Space Marines are good AND very strong. You have to form an Army which can defeat all tipes of Army. So you Need Tanks AND snipers AND bazookas etc.
@BattleVsChess hey gimme tips for chaos space marine army, i can never win, my oppenent always has huge units of termagants, genestealers and trygons, i use khorne berzerkers, standard marines and terminators, i also use rhino rushes and land raiders

try a new strategy. this helps . i want to play a tau army which is fast and had many havy fire with kolloses and rockets .
1st strategy . stay at your spawn area and kill all who come to near. USE ALL HELP YOU CAN GET, like houses or mountains.
@ExNoctemNacimur 2nd tactic all go tho the enemy and kill all at near range. but no nearkombat kill with fireweapons. yust go to near kombat if you have no other chance.

@ExNoctemNacimur first rule against nids -dont assualt too quickly, only counter charge if it's too your advantage. rhino rush isnt going to work against nids in synapse range.
next, first rule of beating tau - battle cannons, heavy bolters, anything that has AP 4 and multiple casualty potential. also make sure you have decent assault units that can actually reach their lines.

@thehobbit03 Well, ultimately you should go for whoever you find the most interesting. To that end, I reccomend visiting the GW website and browsing through all the different armies and their ranges. Then there is playstyle. Do you favour melee, firepower or do you like the idea of balancing the two? Huge hordes or smaller, elite armies? If you don't want to have to manage a huge horde, Orks and Tyranids aren't really for you.
@thehobbit03 Yeah what shanks said - All the armies seem to be more or less the same with regards to how complicated (or not so) they are to learn. You'll just have to consider what gamestyle you prefer and pick an army from that. I love aliens, zerging and melee so I picked tyranid and stuck with it. If not that, I'd likely picked space marines since they seem fun to make and there's so many neat terrain ideas suiteable for them.
If only I had someone to play the game with, I might not have stopped collecting Warhammer figures.. Sadly, I feel so embarrassed by the fact that my painting skills are as weak as can be, so I never felt I had the courage to approach the war gaming centers in my vicinity..

It depends whether or not you have the time and the desire to continue the hobbey. Assault on black reach is only really worth it if you plan on using what's in it for a while. So basically what I'm saying here is if you just want a game to play with your brother then this isn't for. However, if you plan on really getting into 40k, then go for it

Hey am I a lost cause? I am thinking of buying Assault on Black Reach as a starter (maybe) so I can play with my brother. I myself am only 13 and was wondering if spending 100+ on all these models is a waste of money. Also my parents are divorced so I see that brother not much (I am going to be at his house for a month) I really liked that Hero Scape game if this is anything like it... or since it came after 40k if they are just similar? @ITAPAKEGGA Research and pick your fav army of the warhammer 40k universe and play as them. Go to your local Games workshop and buy assault on black reach it comes with a small space marine army and a small ork army and a rule book and most of the stuff you need to start off. Once your get the hang of things and your allright at the game, head to your local games workshop hobby center and meet with some people and play some games with them. Its a really fun thing to get into.
@Friendguystarcraft He said that it was made out of Styrofoam. I would imagine that a piece of MDF board would make a strong enough base though. Small strips of wood attached to the bottom at the distance you want the tables to be apart would keep it from sliding. Pieces of Styrofoam or insulation foam, cut and shaped to look like cement on the sides and add a decent paint job and that bridge is done.

@9393andersson No, this is way way way more paced out. You have time to make nomral judgement, not sub-conscious like you have to train yourself to do in Starcraft for high level play lol.
@Mjesuitas The rules for it are in the Imperial Armour 4 book-The Anphelion Project. I'm sure there's a site that has the rules for all 40k titans, but I can't remember the name of it sorry. You can try to search for a PDF file on it.

All of my friends say im a great painter and like to sit and look at them, and then we play some cod or what ever and then go out and party :D
warhammer is not wasted money. the painting alone is days of entertainment. not to mention all the modelling you can end up doing if you're good enough. then there is the actual gaming aspect. it's very flexible and you can finish a game in 45 mins if it's small or you could have a game that lasts all day much like the one in the video. i can think of tons of other things that are a much bigger waste of money. hell you can make an army for less than a xbox and a few games.
@jstbay true it isnt wasted money, however i find that the cost of entry for say a basic 2000point army seems quite high. I think it would be a better business plan if they lowered the price of things in general as they do have an exorbitant mark up because then more people would end up playing and it would just help the community grow in general.
@Tehpwnzmean1 Your army get literally destroyed PLAYING the game. something you HAVE TO DO. meanwhile with a disc, as long as you look after it, its good as anything, i have games for ps1, they all still work.

Small strips of wood attached to the bottom at the distance you want the tables to be apart would keep it from sliding. Pieces of Styrofoam or insulation foam, cut and shaped to look like cement on the sides and add a decent paint job and that bridge is done.

If your going to register to just see this series...DONT! the fucks trick you into registering, then they leave out parts of the fucking series. so its just a waste of time. But they do have some other cool stuff to look at.

warhammer is not wasted money. the painting alone is days of entertainment. not to mention all the modelling you can end up doing if you're good enough. then there is the actual gaming aspect. it's very flexible and you can finish a game in 45 mins if it's small or you could have a game that lasts all day much like the one in the video. i can think of tons of other things that are a much bigger waste of money. hell you can make an army for less than a xbox and a few games.

@jstbay true it isnt wasted money, however i find that the cost of entry for say a basic 2000point army seems quite high. I think it would be a better business plan if they lowered the price of things in general as they do have an exorbitant mark up because then more people would end up playing and it would just help the community grow in general.
