i get around 9 fps with dx10 on win7 dx11 but my video is 8400 gs 256 :(rofl) so my card supports dx10 only and i was surprised that it will go so high 9fps :) gj anyway..
How did one of your ram sticks die? what kind do you use?
also doesn't 2 480's sound like a freight train running through your room? lol I have one 480 and she gets pretty loud under high load. well not too bad when using msi afterburner.
@Smokie181 my stick didn't die, I bought it dead on arrival. Computer was crashing and ran memtest and got errors on it, they sent new sticks so its all good.
also my 480s aren't that loud, my case drains out a lot of the noise and my cpu fan is probably louder than the 480s anyway
they do get hot though, at load like 97 degrees peak, usually hovering in low 90's. They're BUILT for that temp so it wont kill them but it can heat up your room if its small (mines in a big open room so no prob)
You should overclock your cards if you havent, i have 2 in sli and ive upped the clock to 825 and the memory is at 1900. I had to put up the voltage up to keep it stable but its on stock cooling and it maxed at about 80 degrees. Got another 7 fps on heaven.
@chriso1322 I find it a little hard to believe you have 480's on stock cooling OC'd maxing at 80 degrees....
because it is well known that the 480's STOCK speed maxes at over 90 degrees and that the shutdown temp is 97 degrees....not much room for stock cooling overclocks....
@TheLostGuitarist Cool, do you plan on overclocking? Would like to see a video of that benchmark if possible. Do you use MSI Afterburner? What kind of temps are you getting? Sorry for all these questions, I'm curious :P
@mintico lol 1.bro, if you think you will gain fps in any game after 2.6ghz quad core, you know zero about computers. 2. I did OC my CPU to 3.6 ghz and got, as I expected, NO PERFORMANCE INCREASE IN GAMES. only in video processing. Why? Because there are maybe a total of 2 games made in the last 2 years that are CPU limited (one being battlefield bad company 2, the other being really poorly done ports like GTA IV). Crysis, Metro2033, unigine, none of this will see even 1 fps benefit
@mintico again, go to TOMSHARDWARE the website, they are one of the largest benchmark sites out there, they test on many many rigs, with different parts, and do something called a cpu scaling test. if you don't know what CPU scaling is then wikipedia it or something. CPU scaling on 99% of modern games, beyond a 2.6ghz DUAL core, is 0
I said in your vid, "...Crysis 2 has that too". What DOES it actually have? Nice graphics? NOPE! So what else? DX11? Not yet. So what were you actually saying about?
did you overclock them at all for this benchmark? I got a score very very close to you. my min was a little higher but your average was a little higher, about .5 of a fps, and your max is 5 fps higher then mine, and I have a i7 980x oc'd to 4.05ghz, also I tested mine at 1900x1200
@Neomis01 nope no OC. 5fps is normal variability. Do you have lots of programs starting up with your computer? How much RAM do you have?
CPU speed is virtually irrelevant for most of today's games as long as you meet a minimum. CPU scaling is decreasing as more games rely on GPU.
So my 2.8ghz will get the same exact performance as your 4.05 ghz with the exception of one or two games like metro 2033 which is so poorly optimized it uses physx on cpu still, and battlefield bad company 2
@TheLostGuitarist I had ESET in the hackground, EVGA precision running, 2 logitech keyboards, setpoint, printer, LCD manager running, I also have the gtx 480 sc edition gpu's not sure which you have, Also I ran the benchmark 6-7 times without actually doing a benchmark before i hit the "benchmark button" and I had it to 1900x1200, so that might be it. I'll have to run it later from a fresh boot and not have so many other things running, My Ram Is Mushkin 12gb(3x4gb) Blackline enhanced 1676mhz
1. 12gb ram is more ram than anything would ever use unless you are literally running a server....it's more likely to cause system instability than performance gain, especially at such high speeds
2. running the benchmark 6-7 times could eat up memory but seeing as you have 12gb that's likely not the case.
3. those programs running in the background could possibly affect it but I doubt it.
@TheLostGuitarist Just did, got 51.6FPS 1300 score 25.7 Min 116.9Max. did 1920x1080 resolution this time. that benchmark is cool huh? I like just running it lol
@TheLostGuitarist Mate, I have spent 4000 Pounds on 2 GTX 480's and 3 Acer monitors, and now waiting for the surround driver. You will not regret the extra cash for 3D.

bump that 930 up to 4.0ghz and you will see a nice jump in fps

Did you overclock you 480's? Also did the new drivers give you a better score?
Stevel024 1 year ago
@Stevel024 I didn't overclock the 480's but I did OC my cpu to 3.6ghz. I also just updated the program to 2.1 and got new drivers.
New score: 1317

u gotta take those cpu power higher bro. they can handle it dont worry. and ur SLI will get even more badass. at least overclock them to 3.3GHz

GTX 480 is better of GTX 295??????
capatais777 1 year ago
@capatais777 GTX 480 is better, also it has DX11 and 295 only has DX10
and SLI means dual card.
Nvidia cards use SLI, ATI cards use Crossfire. SLI can be 2-4 cards

@Neomis01 ok several things to point out:
1. 12gb ram is more ram than anything would ever use unless you are literally running a server....it's more likely to cause system instability than performance gain, especially at such high speeds
2. running the benchmark 6-7 times could eat up memory but seeing as you have 12gb that's likely not the case.
3. those programs running in the background could possibly affect it but I doubt it.
TheLostGuitarist 1 year ago
@Neomis01 I'd 1st try running the benchmark without doing it 6 times 1st.
benchmarks could be quite variable too no matter what your setup is. most people do 3 runs and average them for better accuracy
