Sure the Men that flew this mission were true Heroes as were many many more in that horrible war, but! their legacy has been shit on by the US. of today.... feel proud????????????
@19bisho No doubt. Look at our current idiot president & his socialist policies, attempts at back door gun control, apologizing to the world for our wealth, our freedom to run our lives as we see fit & everything else the US stands for. Our current president is trying his best to destroy what many of those brave men gave their lives for. Back then people wouldn't put up with that kind of garbage & he would have been tried for treason.
It's time you dumb fucks got your heads out of your arse holes and started caring for the poor bastards in your fucked up country today, instead of patting yourselves on the backs for things your heroes did 40 years ago..... I'm sure the soldiers that died in the world wars would be saddened to see the mess the country they died for is in today, your whole internal violent death rate per year... 100.000+ according to TIME MAG............. where are your Soldiers needed more?..... I pity you.....
Typical Yank Bull Shit...... that Crippled fuck ordering an ego strike that cost the Chinese 250.000 lives..... oh but you fucks have a name for that don't yuh.?...... COLLATERAL DAMAGE .... what do yuh call the 30.000 + of your own citizens yuh kill with the gun in your own country every year ?......... PAYBACK......
I find it interesting how such an obvious failure of an effort militarily, could help moral in the United States.
It goes to show how people will lie to themselves, to believe what they want to hear for the moment.
Take the Japanese, they would come home, not in honor concerning the failure, then the people would see that as honor, seeing the reality of the failure.
Military-history enthusiasts should get hold of the 1944 movie "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo", which accurately portrays the entire story of this Raid. That hi-grade film was based on Ted Lawson's book .. he was aircraft commander of Plane No. 7 in the line-up. The latter-day "Pearl Harbour" movie's porttrayal of the Raid, I think, for whatever my view's worth, is typical low-grade Hollywood mostly false-hype .. concocted & contrived.
The movie PEARL HARBOR is fairly accurate but the Doolittle family had to FIRST implore the producers to change the portrayal of Jimmy Dolittle. They had his character all wrong. Originally they made him out to be a foul mouth, braggart, blowhard who could fly. In fact, he was quite staid as military officers go and also an MIT PhD in aeronautical engineering.
