XD The main tips I can give are: 1) PRACTICE, 2) Find as much material online (youtube is brilliant) to teach you about your instrument and about techniques - learn from people you think are good: examine how they play, and try to replicate the good traits, 3) Focus on playing WHAT YOU HEAR (playing by ear). If you KNOW how the song sounds, then you'll know how to play it on your instrument. 4) Identify common patterns on the bass, and practice scales

Hey, do you play straight over the itunes released song, or do you have a "bass free" version of it?

@MrChrisMollett I play over the album CD version (same as iTunes version I guess)... but I usually Equalize out about 15-35% of the lows (440Hz and below) to taste, so that my bass sounds more contrasted to the rest of the song and thus easier to hear... most people don't listen for bass when they're casually listening to a song, so you do kinda have to emphasize it a bit =)

ive practiced a bit of hysteria but i learned that i should go for a slower easier song to start with as im a new begginer rofls. got 6 string electric aswell so might learn electric guitar part aswell and record myself doing both bass and electric :D

@wisslaxishard77 They come stock with the fender aerodyne jazz basses but if you want black tuning pegs just go to your local repair shop usually they also do customization or google it OOOOR spray paint your pegs

@wisslaxishard77 They're actually just oxidized (my guess)... I bought this bass second-hand and the previous owner lived on the Florida coast... but I've had no reason whatsoever to replace the pegs with new silver ones, because I actually don't mind the darker tint - if anything it's better? :)

self-taught, but i've had some teaching before for piano so some of what i know is from that too =)

just pointing it out because i've been playing the bass for 2 years, first i taught myself and then got lessons, and when i had lessons my teacher said my thumb was in the wrong place. i then had to change my whole technique and do it the correct way. the thumb should be at the middle of the neck, not on the top! it takes a while to get used to it, but if you don't stop you may get hand 'problems' and that can lead to you never being able to write again!

@antoniau1 I agree, your thumb should at least halfway down the neck - the further down the better. Coming from a bass and double bass player I can say that technique is key to being a good player and not fucking up your hands...

hehe, thanx! yeah i have a tip: LISTEN. the only way to learn how to play bass is to listen to basslines in music so that you train your ear to be able to know what notes to play when chords are played on guitar, piano etc. Bohemian Rhapsody is not 2 difficult, try find a guitar pro tab or something, pm me if you need sum more help ! =)
