Now I don't know for sure, of course, but I'd guess Phil at the time may have considered it a mercy killing. Murder is murder, and judge if you must, but none of us can every really know the depth of someone else's pain.

I have personally collected precious evidence on Phil Ochs, I have mailed it to any who will ask. Phil Ochs was murdered by our own Government/CIA/Secret Service. Thanks for posting. Great introduction to Phil Och's compelling work. Joel's interpretation and delivery is right on ! Knowing that after all these years Phil's work lives on makes the recent loss of Molly Irvin just a little less painful.

Thanks for posting this here. Joel is fantastic and I love Checkerphil's hair.

Which got me to thinking - I can't think of anybody aside from Phil Ochs who made it all the way through the sixties without changing his hairstyle. It was always the same! I guess prophets don't worry about trendy stuff like hairstyles.

LOL! It's true. Always with that pompadour, although it got a big shaggy in the 70's. I think Phil was somewhat anti-counter culture in a way and his hair was symbolic of that.
