  • He's my teacher noow!!

  • Nice tribute to Phil Ochs. I am glad someone can appreciate Phil for the message he had to send to all of us.

  • Joel Landy really does Phil Ochs justice. Joel is a true marcher on the front lines of songs of freedom. With Peoples Music Network, Joel and other singer/songwriters, poets, etc.from around the country, bringing music with social activism into their communities. Peace!

  • Damned good!!!

  • Excellent show guys, im really glad I found it, goes to favorites!

  • in the words of Billy Bragg..."I dreamt i saw Phil Ochs last night" good work fellas! and thank you..

  • I hope you didn't dream about the day Marvin Gaye and Phil Ochs got married! (They Might Be Giants)

  • Excellent. I'm really glad to see people appreciating Och's music.

  • This is great! Thanks for posting. :) LOL Diceydee, astute commentary! ^5's!!!

Seriously though, Phil always seemed to have such tremendous integrity. (That it extended to his hair

style isn't surprising, that someone noticed, is.)

He was a great American. If only we had him today.

In a way, with videos like this, we still do.

  • AMAZING...Only the good die young

  • Hm yes... but if only they didnt die young so much by their own hands... we should not make heroes of those who commit suicide, in spite of the fact i love ochs cobain and others.. suicide is one of the most selfish acts a human can commit.

  • Now I don't know for sure, of course, but I'd guess Phil at the time may have considered it a mercy killing. Murder is murder, and judge if you must, but none of us can every really know the depth of someone else's pain.

  • Word. like Van Gogh there may have been some serious mental stuff afoot here. Only now we can diagnose and medicate properly. I don't hold him up as a hero for how he died, He's a hero to me because of the people he helped and the beautiful thoughtful music he brought while he lived.

  • You guys just don't know what you are talking about . ecracker44, you are downright rude. Kurt and Phil were MURDERED! I have personally collected precious evidence on Phil Ochs, I have mailed it to any who will ask. Phil Ochs was murdered by our own Government/CIA/Secret Service. I have very strong information to support this. It will convince any skeptic, I can assure that. Psychiatry, and "medicine" to help? Tom Cruise is RIGHT about that. Cut out the ignorance, Justice For Phil Ochs!

  • That was done very well. I was a very big fan of Phil Ochs.PLEASE KEEP THOSE SONGS ALIVE.

  • Thanks for posting. Great introduction to Phil Och's compelling work. Joel's interpretation and delivery is right on ! Knowing that after all these years Phil's work lives on makes the recent loss of Molly Irvin just a little less painful.

  • I loved watching that - thank you!!!

  • Thanks for posting this here. Joel is fantastic and I love Checkerphil's hair.

Which got me to thinking - I can't think of anybody aside from Phil Ochs who made it all the way through the sixties without changing his hairstyle. It was always the same! I guess prophets don't worry about trendy stuff like hairstyles.

  • LOL! It's true. Always with that pompadour, although it got a big shaggy in the 70's. I think Phil was somewhat anti-counter culture in a way and his hair was symbolic of that.
