  • It's funny that back in the 60's when Richard Petty was drivin' the SuperBird with a large wing in the back, Nascar banned the vehicle saying it was cheating.

Now all of a sudden Nascar wants Aryodynamics.

  • this car sucks. bring nascar back to the early 2000s!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @SBRHBK They are in 2013!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Never saw the difference in the racing but I'm eager to see the new car.)

  • I really don't care for Nascar anymore ever sice they switched to the COT. I miss the way the old cars sounded on the restricter plate tracks. I wish they still used the old cars in one of their series.

  • love how little brett is trying to sell this ugly piece of shit to race fans. hey brett, got news for you...the debut of this turd coincided with half th seats being empty in the stands for most all cup races.

  • Honda and Nissan should follow Toyota's lead. Honda can enter the Accord, while Nissan can enter either the Altima or Maxima.

  • @stainshield they don't care about nascar dude, they make there money at JGTC events because they usually when anyway.

  • now thats a riced out car lol

  • i like the splitter, but get rid of that hot rod spoiler

  • @Camaroson2008 Which one do you mean? wings and spoilers are two very different things.

  • @dienkonig33 i meant the wings, thats why i am glad that in 2011 the cars still have splitter, but got the spoiler back

  • @Camaroson2008 They got rid of the splitter too. they need to stop the 2 car draft and improve the engines and it'll be all good again.

  • this car is not that much safer, cars have been flipping more often since they were introduced when they were designed to be almost unflippable, and elliot sadler's engine got knocked out of the car. The hans device fixed everything. this car reduces aerodynamics and speed compared to the recent ones.

  • @18greene I think he was talking about how the car lessens the chance of the driver getting injured, in which respect it's *much* safer. If Michael McDowell would've been driving the Car of Yesterday when he had is accident, he would've really been hurt.

And about Elliott Sadler's engine coming out: NASCAR designed the engine mounts so that in that type of crash, the engine would break away from the mounts instead of coming back into the cockpit. :)

  • @gp75motorsports that is true but i didn't know about the engine mounts, thats pretty interesting. thanks for the information

  • @18greene Welcome. :)

  • There was no need for the COT, in some ways it is too safe, back when the cars were flipping all over the place they never talked and said it was unsafe because they had kahones.

Anyways the car was only developed because NASCAR as a panic response to Dale Earnhardt's death to make them look like they really care so much about the driver's safety and that there wouldn't be any more deaths of the big names.

  • Does this nascar "car of tomorrow" use engines which can actually be found in roadcars offered for sale? Does it have fuel injection, overhead cam, non-pushrod design? If not how could it possibly be "the car of tomorrow"??

In endurance racing you see a lot of stuff which end up in roadcars, not to mention fuel efficiency was mainly learned from that form of racing.

You've got to "love" nascar. They still live in the 60's and refuse to change.

  • @McLarenMercedes Yeah, it has a lot of stuff that comes in road cars, such as fuel injection and all the other stuff you listed. :)

  • Crappy

    Old

    Trashbucket

  • i have an NX in the garadge

  • This is disgusting. Does Anyone Watch Motorcycle Races?? It is bad enough the Nascar Cult throws out false yellow flags. It is girl racing. Can you imagine MotoCross and SuperCross doing this! This is effeminate Corporate FemBot Cruising for Tide and Pam Products. And I don't watch it anymore. Bye

  • COT is another project of the Corporation, they control every thing.

  • They've decided that at the earliest, they will change the wing to a spoiler at Martinsville, but that's at the earliest

  • @TheZeus022 I read at Nascar.com that for next year they are going to change the look of the front splitter and make it look alot like the Nationwide design

  • We racers know our life is at risk, and must part of the time safety is an ilusion. Racing is what we do and if i wanted to be safe i'll watch a race rater than racing.

    NASCAR guys are pussies anymore!

  • Hey I got an idea...

Take the wing off so ppl don't fly @ Dega...

KEEP THE SAME OLD MODEL CAR BUT WITH THE NEW SAFETY FEATURES!

The thing is I wish it was the Car of Tomorrow, wouldn't have to deal with it today...

  • @theaccfan its not just the wing i promise you that, if you want ill explain it to you

  • Or they'd possibly be proud that theyre moving forward with safety? They know about as much as you do how a dead man would feel.

  • The COT sucks! since its introduction NASCAR was become increasing boring. There is little drafting since the COT runs better in clean air, once a driver gets in front they are there until a crash or error in the pit stop. F racing provides more interest and that is saying something. NASCAR DUMP THE COT

  • Welcome the Crapper of Today/Tomorrow

  • NASCAR - the failure of tomorrow

  • HA HA!!! the failure of yesterday, today and tomorrow!! LOL.. of coarse, what more could you expect from a bunch of rum-runners and rednecks!

  • isnt a monte carlo ss :s

  • Yeah, Chevy kicks ass, that's why they're going under along with Dodge. Ford IS and will always be the best.

  • Can everyone shut the fuck up about V8 racing jeez!

  • Forget Ford Chevy kicks ass!

  • the cot is safe but the racing sucks. cot is boring

  • nascar sucks, watch the v8supercars thats real racing. ever herd of bathurst 1000?

30 v8s racing around a circuit not a oval!!, oh and chevvy may won more on oval, but FORD has won more on v8 racing circuits in the last 8 years.

  • FYI...that's brett bodine not geoff bodine...

  • any body interesting in V8supercar racing will find it in youtube, just type in V8Supercars and compare the two series, i love my supercars....... also nascar is overating way to much for a boring race. only good thing is the pack is close., well why not see a close pack racing on a circuit, up and down hills, round corners and street circuits??

  • Lol dude i like watching v8s and am going to bathurst this year but nascar are a fuckload faster and more exciting and nascars also do race on roads (watkins, infineon) so get your facts straight but one thing i will agree with you on is fords rule

  • nascars are to much overated aussie v8 supercars crap all over these oversized bricks on wheels if they let the v8 supercars in to the usa it would spell and end to nascar racing bcause ple would love the type of racing that the v8 cars are capable of nascars just basicly just go aroun in circles

  • I wish they were safe but they still wrecked better :( ......

  • THE REAR WING SUCKS!!!!

  • I agree with you that Nascar and soon to arrive Trans AM racing 2009 should only be for american manufacturers.

  • Tony Stewart belongs in a Chevy. Period. His attitude and driving style fit the profile of a Chevy race car driver. I know General Motors can't commit money to their racing program as much as Toyota can due to these times but hopefully they can earn their wins through the drivers team and organazation and relax with the technology for a bit. Got to work hard for wins for the 2009 season with testing being brought to a stop for now.

  • I wish they would use the Monte Carlo instead of the Impala.

  • I listen to; Muse, Fall Out Boy, MCR, MSI, Bowling For Soup, AFI, Paramore and lots more music like that....None of those bands make country music...

OK the Car of Today isn't the fastest, but the racing is closer and safer...So stop acting like some stuck up european who thinks F1 is the best...It's not it's overrated and boring.

  • the car of tomorrow is the car of today and its here to stay,

    NOT ME

  • What I don't like about this car is the engine and transmission, not the car: No fuel injection and no superchargers in a too big engine with a 4 speed transmission... The rest of the car is great: Ideal for safety and near production style car, but a 358in³ for 865hp? Commons, Judd Engine Developments Ltd make a GV5.5S2 of 5,5 litre with done approximately the same amount off power for endurance road racing but have a lower consumption... Anyway.

  • i used to hate it but i like it now =p

  • But there are different types of Chevy engines. DEi engines are different to RCR engines. There are small differences but they're there.

  • yes toku i agree and reading some other posts i notice that they are complaining about the stick lights.. personally to me nwo this my opion its wires to run less chance of fires striking on impact of the wall. McDowells crash did proove alot bout the COT car. It prooved that this car could take a good hit flip over a couple times and start lil engine fire and stil keep the driver safe and sound. I liek the COT bring more challgens to nascar! [go kasey kahne]

  • fuck you bitch the COT cars rock they look like street racing cars

  • Great, but what sucks is that they took out most of the tradition in nascar where the cars were stock then they made is safer and faster....now a days they make the nascars look the same but the only thing different is the sticker lights and the motor company logo. That sucks.

  • They change the engines and chasis aswell you moron

  • I'm the moron? What about you? They sucked you in a oval and made you think that the cars are all different but there really all the same.WTF.If what you said is true that they use different engines and chassis then why do the Toyota nascars use Chevy engines.

  • BECAUSE TOYOTA SUCKS BALLS! no really i hate toyotas..

  • The Toyotas Dont use Chevy Engines, They use toyota engines

  • yea mcdowells wreck was a big one for sure, even the commentators said it proves so much for the car of tomorrow and the safer barrier.

  • Doesn't race well (yet), but it is safe.

  • well i just want everyone to realize how important this car was in saving Micheal Mcdowell's life on friday at Texas Motor Speedway. lets face the facts; without the hans device, fully enclosed seats, and this new car, he'd be gone. no question

  • yep yep yep you are so right

  • NASCAR and the DAYTONA 500: The Great AMRICAN race not the great forgin race! Brain France is ruining NASCAR!

  • you realize that 10 toyota models are designed, built, marketed, and sold in America, including the Camry, unlike the Impala, which is assembled in Canada.

oh yeah, thats real American.... eh?

  • Not as if it mattered all the cars are the same but lol

  • Bring Back the monte carlo, screw the new car

  • The Impala ss, right?

  • yeah, RIGHT!! IMPALA SS LOL

  • Wow.. I'll miss the money guzzling, unsafe, granny cars :-( RIP Nascar.

  • I'd like to see nascar race actual rear wheel cars and not these front wheel drive grocery getters. I miss IMSA

  • fucking dipshit if they were front wheel they couldnt do doughnuts now could they?

  • I might watch nascar if they had real cars.

  • The post of the 1969 Daytona 500 is what racing was and should be all about. The car of tomorrow idea is something for guys with too much time on their hands. The factory shape should still be used and slowing them down. How about smaller engines or 2 bbl carbs? I have a tape of the 1988 500. Look at the small spoiler?

  • hate restrictor plates and the car of tomorrow is but ugly

  • if thats the car of tomorrow im a german. ( im really english)

  • exactly, nothing really cutting edge here.

  • Racing does not have to be "Cutting Edge" to be professional.

These cars allow more of the racing to be in the drivers hands, than the builders/engineers/owners.

    I like it better personally.

    I respect your opinion though.

  • i agree with Riles8 now we will be able to more of how the drivers preform and i think this is a good change for NASCAR.

The COT will make it so drivers win races rather than the car. now NASCAR will be less like F1 racing.

  • the monte is that nationally known race car, its won more races than any other car, in a way theyre killing a legend

  • So the COT is more like the cars on the lot? And what do you think about the restrictor plates.

  • Nascar has sucked ever since the late 80's. The cars today are nothing like the car at the dealer. What made stock car racing so great to begin with is that the car they raced was just a modified version of what you could buy at the dealer, hence the name "stockcar racing". I welcome toyota, cot car, and anything that will make it more like what it was thru-out the 70's and early 80's. I like Jeff Gordon but his comment on he didn't like it's looks, made me cringe.

  • Never should get rid of the Monte's. Dumb ass idea.

  • i agree

  • They got rid of the Monte carlo 'cause GM stop production of the actual car, No used making templete for a Gm model that isn't in production anymore.

  • @WOLFENCT chevy just stopped make them thats why

  • I absolutely despise this car and alot of drivers seem to agree with me(most notibly Jeff Gordon). I have a feeling this will due horrible come Talladega.

  • i saw the before! Lol

  • thanks for showing me the car of tommorow
