  • This beats my record by a lot: One day in the late summer of 1975 I received 103.5 FM from Ft. Lauderdale, FL, which at that time was WSHE, from my bedroom in Flint, Michigan with a simple homemade dipole antenna. Stereo light went on and off for quite some time. It was pretty clear. Curiously, there was another station in Detroit also at 103.5. Nothing I ever heard ever came close to this. I got 850 KOA from Denver; I got Green Bay and Toronto TV, etc. But this beat all.

  • Amazing! WHCF should be proud - and you for the great ears!

    73,

  • WOW...

  • WOW! Now THAT is a DX catch! Even the station ID cleared up!

  • @MrUnidyne While this was happening I was literally shaking like a leaf! The first ever positive / confirmed reception of a US FM station in Europe.

  • What antenna & receiver were you using?

  • @MrUnidyne If i remember rightly the receiver was a Denon TU 425 RD with a 4 element yagi antenna @ about 20 feet over ground.

  • Excellent! Congrats on this pioneer achievement!

  • I'm from Bangor! thats one of my favorite stations! they have one of the strongest transmitters in the state, their stated coverage area includes the canadian maritimes.

  • WOW!

  • DXcellent catch!

  • Awesome DX! Lets hope for more during Solar Cycle 24. Gud Luck es Good DX 73
