my macbook is out of warranty and doesn't have apple care and was bought in 2009, do you think apple will still give me a replacement battery cover as this is also happening to me!
@mrflintstone well if you didnt know, macs run very fast and its very rare to get viruses on it, so its not gonna be an ordinary 200-700 dollar laptop
I got the same model and the problems is very small. Only a little jiggle but I dont notice it now that I use a Speck See thru Case for my aluminum macbook. The biggest problem that I had was the slanted keys and it drove me nuts for a while. But since I bought at a BestBuy Store the didn't let me exchange it for such a small problem. There are no apple stores where I live so I was out of luck
so the loose battery cover started becoming loose a week after u got yur macbook? then u got it replaced hmmm ya mine has started to become loose too and it started doin this once i got my battery changed from my local apple store then noticed after i upgraded my ram but its not at yur stage of being so loose its about 1/8 of an inch but still could become even worse over time plus i had this macbook for about 8 months and didnt room the battery cover till last month when my battery got changed
It became loose the moment I took the battery latch off. When I tried to put it back together, there was a gap. Apparently, a few people got Apple to replace the latch itself via phone (Applecare). Worth giving them a call and telling them about this issue. They will send a replacement latch.
oh ok i gotcha ya bro mine did the same too but not as severe just a small gap and i can move it around a lil bit but still when u buy a 2000 dollar computer this shouldnt happen plus i bought apple care obviously for reasons like this since it was apple first year making the aluminum macbook and everyone know when buying something in the first year it comes out there is always problems..ya i got an appoinment with the apple store tomorrow and see what they can do about this hopefully a new comp
so ya bro i went into apple today and told the guy at the genius bar and he was like apple doesnt cover that becuz its on the bottom of the computer and its not a moving part i was like how does that make any sense and just told him some bullshit then after he was like ok if u do have any problems with it then just bring it in! so in the end it was pretty much wtf to that guy haha so we will see what happens i guess!
ya man im starting to notice that on mine aswell but is not like yurs to that extreme mine just moves around a little bit after taking the battery cover off a few times which dont know how it would make this happen like that! how did u resolve this issue? does apple give u a new macbook or just parts to fix it? i wanna here yur opinion bro thanks for the vid!!!

Teacher says, every time a macintrash fag blindly defends iConsumerism, Steve Jobs gets another white blood cell. Keep it up, mac fags, if you want some CEO with a messiah complex to live!
man that would have bothered the heck out of me. i just bought the new 13" macbook pro from online apple store and noticed that the battery is sealed this time. i really wanted to have the opening slot thingy but after seeing your laptop im glad the battery is sealed good luck with the Mac :-)
Ha. I'm just joking man. My al macbook when I got it came with a scratch on the actual screen (underneath the protective layer) Apple picked up the old one and replaced it with a new one within 48 hours. Quite impressive.
Too bad I can't get this one replaced and get the new updated macbook pro 13 inch grrrrr
i like your videos but i dont think that would be a major problem, just imagine not having the computer at all (like me) then youll see how simple that is to fix and how unimportant it is. I mean the laptop still work just fine so i dont see the problem
I wouldn't consider that a problem at all. I, too, am thinking of getting an Aluminum MacBook for school and to me that wouldn't really bother me at all, no matter how loose it is, as long as it closes. When I have the computer on my lap or on a desk at least it wont be rattling around like that.
If its really worth the hassle, take it in. The last thing you want is you getting a new machine and something (more serious) turning out to be a pain. Check the system in-store if you do decide to get it replaced.
I agree with some people here it is not worth the $500 extra money for the 2.4. Why ? Well when I got the 2.0 I exchange because it had no illuminated keyboard, but then when I got the 2.4 Vista sound was terrible but with my 2.0 vista sound was much much better.
I recommend if you are getting a macbook and you are planning on using vista in it get instead the 2.0 it is not worth it paying extra for just a 400 Mhz and 250 hard drive and illuminated keyboard. Check MY VIDEOS too.
My point is, or was, unless your really going to be doing intensive work - you may get a 2.895353245 second of an increase in speed. In my opinion, its not worth paying extra for.
Just a tip for those debating on the 2.0 or 2.4 Ghz. Something to keep in mind is that processor speeds have topped off at their maximum. So if your are looking for a machine for normal use then you should get the 2.0Ghz. Processors have gotten to a point that they are made on a molecular level, if that gaps between the currents get to small electricity will start to jump paths and cause short circuits, AKA, not good. So if your worried about buying something that will go out of date, don't.
Exactly, there is no dramatic change in the speeds. If you do intensive work on your machine, you may just notice that slight .4mhz of a difference - otherwise, theres no point in getting it.
This is honestly a f'cking joke! I really like the macbook(unibody), but because of this I refuse to buy it. If you charge as much as apple do for their macbook you'd expect it to be top notch. This however is NOT. It's really sad because just creates sort of a love/hate-relationship to this machine.
mine is fine but it seems a little lifted like if its not aligned mostly on the sides of the battery cover should i take it to the apple store or is that common.
Sorry to break this news to you BUT with over 8000 views on this video - I would say its concerning people. Not only that, Macrumors has a post in which a lot of people have reported similar issues. Could be a production issue, but theres nothing it stopping from being a design flaw as you don't encounter the problem until you take the cover off for the first time and then when you put it back, thats when the problem starts.
I do agree with theunits3, this is a very common problem, as I have the same issue with my battery cover. It is a major annoyance, but compared to from what I have heard about other new MacBook owners and their crooked keys, dead pixels, and sometimes worse.
Heck, when I went to the Apple Store and asked for a RAM upgrade, the process took longer than normal because the MacBook they wanted to sell to me died on them.
hey is it jus me but does the new macbooks take very long to charge?...i noticed it took my macbook 13" alluminum 20 minutes to increase 4% is that normal?
BENGALIBLAZE you are totally right the new macbooks seem to take forever to charge. I noticed that too with my 2.0 and 2.4. I had them charged for 5 hours and I still got only 2 hours of life battery and I wasn't doing no media or gaming just regular internet search.
Naa, I don't need one. The Macbook is more than enough for what I require. Although, if you insist in buying one for me - I will give you my address and you can send me one :D
Fizzo there is no difference between a macbook or macbook pro when an item gets defective or comes defective. I read a lot of comments here that this happens because it is a macbook 2.0 or 2.4 and blah blah blah.. I really had two of them and my 2.0 was working better than the 2.4 and I have seeing people here having issues with macbook pros. No technology is perfect and even a $3,000 macbook pro can damage over time.
i still dont know which 1 i should buy.. should i buy the 2.4Ghz or the 2.0Ghz model? is it worth to buy the 2.4Ghz model? i need to safe my budget hehe
The difference between the 2.0 and 2.4 is £200. I didn't go for the 2.4 because I couldn't justify the spec and price. I can always upgrade the hard drive later on and backlit im not too bothered about as I have my Macbook connected to my LCD and I use a wireless keyboard.
I'm not always 'on the go' per say. When i'm at home, I keep the notebook on my desk thus like have a larger viewing screen and comfort. When I am going to university or work, I can just put it in my bag and take it. The joys of mobility eh?
Apple offers a 14% discount for students in the Apple Education Store online. That drops the price of a 2.0GHZ unibody MacBook to £799. Spec a Dell XPS M1330 to the same level, and it'll cost £829. With the MacBook, you get faster front-side bus, faster RAM, better graphics and better build quality, all in a much slimmer, nicer and more durable design.
Agreed, especially when benchmarks difference is not that high, and when processers evolve every year. By The way, Hi, Are you experiencing audio from the speakers pretty unbalanced towards right side?
Alrighty - i'm not to sure what you mean by the speakers. 95% of the time i've got my headphones connected to the Macbook, i've used it once or twice without headphones and the audio quality is pretty darn good. Hope this helps.
I noticed it while I was trying a DVD and I made sure the 5,1 Dolby was not selected, but rather 2.0 stereo instead, however, playing iTunes later on, I kept noticing it. With headphones is ok. By watching a disassemble guide on the internet, I noticed that the subwoofer is not dead centred but rather on the right of the fan, which is instead dead centred.
So when playing bass sounds I indeed could hear it more compared to high 1s, I just didn't expect subwoofer can make that big of difference.
CLAATU when I had my 2.0 my audio using vista was amazingly great but then when I got my 2.4 I noticed a nousy cracking noise coming from my macbook. I called apple they told me it was vista but then I called vista and they said the problem was with apple. I regret changing my 2.0 for the 2.4. I recommend the 2.0. Why pay so much for a machine that can damage anytime somehow no matter what kind it is?
I agree, beside, among many other previous macs i don't see a major speed bump in between as advertised. About this sound matter in particular, I must admit I didn't get bothered anymore later on, maybe because I am too concentrated on what I really need to work on. I was doing the test in the first week of purchase because, at least in the nation where i bought it, the retailer allows 1 week for the computer to be fully replaced in case of problems.
somebody on macrumors or apple support is mentioning to bend the dents inside back to how initially they were as those moved when opening the lid and those caused the clicking problems. all the feedbacks said it worked, but be careful.
I totally agreed friend, I saw you posting that, along with comments, so I thought it wasn't easy to drive back there again to get it replaced. Thanks to super smart people who thought to shift the production somewhere in asia, probably china, as Korea does things right (usually), this is the consequence and this is what we get. Macbook 2.0 is having also Screen Flickering when settings to low light, and Hard Drive and SuperDrive noise, check the replaced one too when you'll be there. Good luck.
Sorry to hear about your Macbook problem too, hope it all works out well for you. Have you contacted Apple about it? If so, what did they say? When you say screen flickering, is it obvious that it's happening or do you really need to look hard/close up.
I didn't buy it yet, I found your videos by typing "defect" on purpose on the search box, because I already know that all the apple computers have defects, especially new ones.
And if you would have bought a refurb. mb pro, it's even worse, all the 2,4ghz mb pro refurb. (dec 07-Sept 08) have faulty GPU like my brother's ibook G3 (2003), which died few days ago. And yet, since 2003 at least, Apple never cared to inspect construction process professionally. but shifted those money into stupid ads.
Interesting, did your brothers ibook not have the Applecare plan? You'd think Apple would contact all those who had the faulty graphics cards and offer replacement cards, which actually work properly. From what i've read on a few forums - numerous people are saying that Apple's quality control is dropping. It's a shame tbh. They really need to get their act together.
5 years of app care (2003-08) cost can be saved to get a modern mac.If a drive or a screen breaks, there are cheaper diy alternatives i used, than hearing from apple genius "try reset the pram or Replace the whole motherboard" when just a cable is defective. My friend had a free logic board repair which broke after 6 months again. Meaning, as in my mb pro report previously, that it's very unlikely to find a good logic board to replace a faulty one as 1 year production of mb pro is f. up.
Ofcourse you wouldn't expect all Macs to experience this problem, but I guess this is what happens when a company cuts cost in manufactoring and makes these things China. You'll get a few bad quality issues appearing here and there.
I am holding back at the moment as I am not too sure where I quite stand yet. I have already sent in my iPod Nano rebate, I had to basically tear off the label and cardboard off my Macbook box in order for the application to be processed. I am not too sure whether they will accept a 'damaged' box. I hope they do because I am really not impressed with this casing, it can very easily slip out if caught off guard and I can not spare the £949 again. Thanks to all those who have watched this video.
i havn't had any problems with mine either although at the apple store i did unbox my macbook and found it had a faulty latch so they replaced it there and then
my macbook is out of warranty and doesn't have apple care and was bought in 2009, do you think apple will still give me a replacement battery cover as this is also happening to me!

I haven't had this problem with mine, but i know there's a really easy fix for it on some forums.

i still dont know which 1 i should buy.. should i buy the 2.4Ghz or the 2.0Ghz model? is it worth to buy the 2.4Ghz model? i need to safe my budget hehe
eddie14886 3 years ago
The difference between the 2.0 and 2.4 is £200. I didn't go for the 2.4 because I couldn't justify the spec and price. I can always upgrade the hard drive later on and backlit im not too bothered about as I have my Macbook connected to my LCD and I use a wireless keyboard.
theunits3 3 years ago
why would you get a monitor and keyboard for a laptop, you get a laptop because its portable

I'm not always 'on the go' per say. When i'm at home, I keep the notebook on my desk thus like have a larger viewing screen and comfort. When I am going to university or work, I can just put it in my bag and take it. The joys of mobility eh?
theunits3 3 years ago
"When I am going to university" You're a student?
Apple offers a 14% discount for students in the Apple Education Store online. That drops the price of a 2.0GHZ unibody MacBook to £799. Spec a Dell XPS M1330 to the same level, and it'll cost £829. With the MacBook, you get faster front-side bus, faster RAM, better graphics and better build quality, all in a much slimmer, nicer and more durable design.
gbtidi 3 years ago
Yeah I know - I agree with you. I got the EDU discount plus other goodies :D. See my other videos and you'll know what I mean. :)
theunits3 3 years ago
Agreed, especially when benchmarks difference is not that high, and when processers evolve every year. By The way, Hi, Are you experiencing audio from the speakers pretty unbalanced towards right side?
Thanks.
claatu 3 years ago
Alrighty - i'm not to sure what you mean by the speakers. 95% of the time i've got my headphones connected to the Macbook, i've used it once or twice without headphones and the audio quality is pretty darn good. Hope this helps.
theunits3 3 years ago

Why pay so much for a machine that can damage anytime somehow no matter what kind it is?
liza2000us2001 3 years ago
I agree, beside, among many other previous macs i don't see a major speed bump in between as advertised. About this sound matter in particular, I must admit I didn't get bothered anymore later on, maybe because I am too concentrated on what I really need to work on. I was doing the test in the first week of purchase because, at least in the nation where i bought it, the retailer allows 1 week for the computer to be fully replaced in case of problems.
Thanks for your comment Liza.
Cheers !

Easy fix bend the prongs on the battery cover and hey presto its fixed!

I'm not going to even attempt at answering that question. Wikipedia and Google are your best friends.

I don't take drugs, nor am I Irish - I am indeed Scottish. Good question though, liking how people get mixed up with Irish and Scottish accents :D

Definitely take it back! Mine isn't like that either. They should just replace it.

somebody on macrumors or apple support is mentioning to bend the dents inside back to how initially they were as those moved when opening the lid and those caused the clicking problems. all the feedbacks said it worked, but be careful.
claatu 3 years ago
I wouldn't want to be messing around or doing DIY myself on this machine. If I paid nearly £1k on this machine, I expect nothing but quality.
theunits3 3 years ago
I totally agreed friend, I saw you posting that, along with comments, so I thought it wasn't easy to drive back there again to get it replaced. Thanks to super smart people who thought to shift the production somewhere in asia, probably china, as Korea does things right (usually), this is the consequence and this is what we get. Macbook 2.0 is having also Screen Flickering when settings to low light, and Hard Drive and SuperDrive noise, check the replaced one too when you'll be there. Good luck.
claatu 3 years ago
Sorry to hear about your Macbook problem too, hope it all works out well for you. Have you contacted Apple about it? If so, what did they say? When you say screen flickering, is it obvious that it's happening or do you really need to look hard/close up.
theunits3 3 years ago
I didn't buy it yet, I found your videos by typing "defect" on purpose on the search box, because I already know that all the apple computers have defects, especially new ones.
And if you would have bought a refurb. mb pro, it's even worse, all the 2,4ghz mb pro refurb. (dec 07-Sept 08) have faulty GPU like my brother's ibook G3 (2003), which died few days ago. And yet, since 2003 at least, Apple never cared to inspect construction process professionally. but shifted those money into stupid ads.
claatu 3 years ago
Interesting, did your brothers ibook not have the Applecare plan? You'd think Apple would contact all those who had the faulty graphics cards and offer replacement cards, which actually work properly. From what i've read on a few forums - numerous people are saying that Apple's quality control is dropping. It's a shame tbh. They really need to get their act together.
theunits3 3 years ago
5 years of app care (2003-08) cost can be saved to get a modern mac.If a drive or a screen breaks, there are cheaper diy alternatives i used, than hearing from apple genius "try reset the pram or Replace the whole motherboard" when just a cable is defective. My friend had a free logic board repair which broke after 6 months again. Meaning, as in my mb pro report previously, that it's very unlikely to find a good logic board to replace a faulty one as 1 year production of mb pro is f. up.
claatu 3 years ago
did they fix it yet?
19948246228 3 years ago
Ofcourse you wouldn't expect all Macs to experience this problem, but I guess this is what happens when a company cuts cost in manufactoring and makes these things China. You'll get a few bad quality issues appearing here and there.
asjeot 3 years ago
Bring it back. I have seen like 10 of the new macbook pros in my hand and not one of them had that problem. Thats not normal.
jjessee25 3 years ago
mine dont do that.
go take that back, they'll give you a brand new one

I am holding back at the moment as I am not too sure where I quite stand yet. I have already sent in my iPod Nano rebate, I had to basically tear off the label and cardboard off my Macbook box in order for the application to be processed. I am not too sure whether they will accept a 'damaged' box. I hope they do because I am really not impressed with this casing, it can very easily slip out if caught off guard and I can not spare the £949 again. Thanks to all those who have watched this video.
theunits3 3 years ago
i havn't had any problems with mine either although at the apple store i did unbox my macbook and found it had a faulty latch so they replaced it there and then
iMacwizzo 3 years ago
Have you opened your battery section yet? Open it and then let me know if you have the same problem or not.
theunits3 3 years ago
Mine doesn't do that. I think you need an exchange.
