They probably also have other good nutrients, and it takes less resources to produce insects than it does to raise say a cow. Why not eat all organisms in the food pyramid? If there are limits, maybe we should all go vegetarian.

Renano95 is right technically scorpions aren't poisonous they're venomous and you can eat venom fine unless it makes contact with your bloodstream. I have no info about their mandibles having venom. It is usually produced by two glands in the tip of the tail. Furthermore it looks like an Emperor scorpion which is only slightly venomous… stings like a bee. And it was cooked! Heating venom and poisons usually destroys them so you became sick for some other reason.

I know this is an old video but I thought i'd tell you, if you didn't already find it out, that the poison is harmless once it goes into your stomach. Also i've seen a lot of people, including the famous Bear Grylls, eating live scorpions, and none of them had any problems. So you most probably had an allergic reaction, or food intoxication.

you cant get poisoned from eating scorpion poison , even if you drain 100 scorpions poison into a cup and drink , UNLESS you have a wound in your mouth OR a BIG stomach ulcer .

Snake or scorpion poison are PROTEINS , they are danatured by the acidity of the stomach , they are only poisonous if they get into your BLOODSTREAM .

Ii guess what got you nto the hospital was some food poisoning as in BACTERIA , but not the scorpions venom . Also , it was cooked

My friend had 2 brain surgeries in a public Thai hospital... cash bill - About 2,000 US dollars! No joke. He had part of his skull sewn into his stomach to keep it "fresh". It stayed there for weeks. $2K - no lie.

I ate 3 Clarkeinda trachoides thinking they were something else, very nearly died tho wouldn't let the MDs touch me after ladies in the village carted me to the hospital, left with BP 50/60. 8 others were killed shortly before that in the same village after eating them. Scorpions do not have venom in their tail or their claws. The only have venom in the very tip of the tail which you broke off. The venom did not cause your allergic reaction.

The scorpion you ate is not a particularly venomous one; if it was a reaction to some of the venom then it was more likely an allergic reaction than the normal action of the venom. On the other hand, many people have allergic reactions (including difficulty in breathing etc.) from shellfish. Since you ate several things that day, you'll probably never know.

ummm black emperor scorpion, by the way the stinger or tamaleus also contains the anus. Their not pincers, their pedipalps. The abdomen contains most of the carapace (hard exoskeleton). All arthopods contain chitin, a protein found witin the exoskeleton of insects. Insects are nutritional and beneficial.

what confuses me though, scorpions have venom, not poison, it will only do damage if it enters the bloodstream,
