Yes, a wild ferret would probably freak out and bite on instinct. A well trained domestic ferret should NEVER bite, except if you play rough with them.

Yeah, my Isis, she's dew (dark eyed white) ferret, only bites when really riled up. She loves it when you scratch fabric like on a bed or a cushion, she does that ferret dance, whipping her head left and right, with her mouth open jumping up and down. It's beyond adorable.

I'm so sorry. I know how hard it is... Since '05, I've lost five ferrets, most from cancer, one from a horrible accident. I miss that one the most, she was my first ferret.

I've lost two. One from Pancritis.. he died in my arms.. The other, Blaze had to be shot by my dad, it was instant... he no longer had to suffer from those terrible seizures. I still have my first ferret. She has Adreinal Cancer.

He likes those too, but it was by accident that he got a hold of the green peppers. There was 3, and we had no idea where they went until my ferret came bounding around the corner, looking as happy as could be; as it was, I just picked him up, and remarked on the smell his face was giving off: it smelled like green peppers! My mom only found one core of a pepper. As for the bananas, a lot of ferrets love them, and a lot hate them.

curious is an understatement. very funny and amusing but boy can they get in to trouble as a pet. a friend just offered one to me the other day. this is the second free ferret to a good home this year. had i known this a few months ago i probably would have taken the first one. no sense in keeping track of just one lol. plus like most animals they bored and lonely when you're not around. DO NOT GET A FERRET IF YOU WON"T SPEND LOTS OF TIME WITH IT ! plus they need lots of entertainment

Ferrets are just about the sweetest animals you could want as a pet, me and my boyfriend have one and he just wants to play and run and have fun with us all the time. Plus they're for the most part quiet.

What about the smell? I was so close to getting one once but I got talked out of it because I heard they smell really bad unless you get them deodorized which costs a real bungle.

Well it's true if you don't have a deodorized ferret they'll smell musky. When we got ours it had already been descented so no problem there, also he had been neutered. If it's not descented you could cut down on the smell by washing its bedding regularly and cage. It won't get rid of it but it should help.
