  • they make the horns quieter for all the bed wetters who dont like being woke up in the middle of the night and find out they've pissed themselves XD

seriously tho. theyre loud and proud sounding for a reason. to tell everyone around that if you get in front of it, it WILL kick your ass.

  • AC6000CW and C40-8W.

  • i saw 623 yesterday comming through alexandria amtrak station in virginia. the engineer blew the horn as a friendly hello to me.

  • I've sen 623 up here in NJ, It has a Great horn

  • I have worked on the 623, its a hunk of junk.

  • Whoever thinks horns are gay suck. there isnt anything better than hearing a train horn on a summer night. its the most beautiful sound in the world.

  • although we could play technicalities right?...I heard they de-rated the AC60's to a measly 4400 engines since the German ones were cracking because of too much h.p....I missing hearing the old AC60's

  • The back end does stick out...CSX only painted the "CSX" on the long hood on AC60's....the numbering is also a dead give away...sorry

  • Those bastards have a lot of Horsepower jeez.

  • look at all that graffiti on the cars.

  • what is the difference between AC4400CW (DASH 9'S) and dash 8's

  • The first engine is actually an AC6000CW.

  • People that don't like trains horns are GAY!!!!!

  • try living on the tracks asshole

  • at 2:32 in the video you can still hear the horn of that long train W0W

  • There are 3 more grade crossings within about a half mile of this one. That horn you hear is when this train is approaching one of them.

  • oh okay thanks

  • In this case what you can't see can kill you. These tracks come around what amounts to about at least a 75 degree turn and cannot be seen by cars approaching the crossing. The horn lets people know how close the train is.

  • then why not just tap the horn? I can find some sense in that...

  • Man, oh man! When I saw 623 on Q108 in Greenwich OH in 2005, he did NOT sound like that! His horn seems to have "weakened" a tad.

  • I dont understand train horns... can some one explain why they need to blow the horn? You'd have to be deaf to not hear one of them coming without holding the horn, and even if your deaf you can still FEEL the ground shake. Heres to outlawing the horns on trains and leaving the idiots who dont look both ways to die on the tracks....

  • OK, Next time you are near a train track, or are railfanning or whatever, you stand somewhere where there is no grade crossing, so you can hear just how quiet a diesel really is! The horns are there to warn the stupid fuckers. Letting them die is inhumane, and something we should strive not to do in the USA.

Also, if you can, go to a town such as Morrison IL where they've passed an ordinance banning train horns. Since the ordinance passed, there have been 3 accidents in less than 2 years.

  • I disagree... letting dumbfuckers that think a train hitting a car is an accident die would do the country a HUGE favor. If you get hit by a train, its no accident, you CHOSE to be negligent, you CHOSE to be stupid and DESERVE whatever happens to you.

  • You're Right.

  • ABSOLUTELY

  • BTW you must have hearing loss cause diesels are VERY loud... I live right on the tracks. I dont see why its inhumane to let the dumbfucks die who choose not to look before they cross. The governemnt tries SO HARD to protect the citizens from THEMSELVES its sickening. By the way im moving to Morrison...

  • It may be that i've been filming trains so long now, that 14, 16, and 20 Cylinder Diesel engines have no effect on me anymore.

Really? Please take note on how many dumbasses drive around the gates in Morrison, and if you witness one get nailed, i suggest going to the city and telling them to repeal that ordinance! Also note that since I was up there last, they have installed concrete-grounded pylons from 50 feet out to the crossing and the other side as well at some crossings

  • I live 500 ft from the train tracks allrightythan aka MORON. Try again.

  • for the same reason no one ever gets out of the way when emergency vehicles are running light and siren...too many distractions in vehicles and carelessness..hard to believe they are making those horns quieter...Im only partial to the horns though cuz it reminds me of when I was young my grandparents house - you could hear them through the valley at night - kinda perty

  • He likes the horn

  • WHAT AN ASSHOLE
