WOW! Todd starts the recital with two of my all time favorite songs - Love of the Common Man, and Cliche! Brought tears to my eyes it made me feel so good.
@Oreeyemma well when you get to 63 you perform every song like you did 35 years previously...in the exact same tibre, tone and style then do it perfectly...
@BlueOrpheus1988 this has nothing to do with age.....he even openly admits to botching this up......calm the fuck down others will have different opinions...ya wanker
@Oreeyemma If by god awful you mean awesome, you are correct. Hearing this stuff is really inspiring me to pick up my guitar again, actually. This version of hammer in my heart seems to parody his own song in good humor. He's so funny sometimes.
I wouldn't miss it if Todd NEVER played "Hammer In My Heart" again...he has so many more incredible songs, it's a shame to take up time w/ it...I wish someone would tell him...the rest of this show was brilliant, though...just listening to him speak is so entertaining...I have more admiration for Todd than anyone I can think of...
Contrary to popular belief, Todd is not God, he is "merely" human. I wouldn't want it any other way, that's why his songs are so great and stand the test of time. His articulation of the human experience and how it relates to a higher being moves me to no end. Whether fresh from the studio or brushing off the dust, life doesn't get any better than watching him perform.
Dude, really? You wanna get THAT critical of THIS? I saw Todd at a solo show in Tulsa - similar orchestration - and he warfed enough stuff on piano for several nights, but it really didn't matter. The warfs became just as entertaining as the 'non-warfs'. And therein lies some of his magic...
sportsmediaamerica Another guy that recorded this indicated this wasn't suppose to be a recital, but he was kind of roped into it at the last minute. So maybe there was no time to brush up on 30 year old songs. Todd still put on a great show, pple enjoy his humor and even a genius can make a mistake. I wish i would have been there. Thanks Gregster for posting this show.
You know what? I have frickin ' idolized Todd for decades. He's a musical genius. But he selects "Cliche," one of his most challenging acoustic pieces, and blows it from obvious lack of practice. No live performing artist gets to skate on that. Was this gig sprung on him suddenly, so there was no time to practice? It's just a disappointment, but this is rare footage and thanks for that.
If anyone is deserving of the title "professor", it is Todd. He has forgotten more than most will even know. He has a pretty good wit and sense of humor too!
If you like Todd's music please please please checkout LARRY NORMAN! Larry was another great that sailed under the corporate radar.

About 30 years ago the lead guitar on "Just One Victory" was the reason I picked up a guitar. Been playing ever since.... thanks Todd!.
