@Lloydhl You are wrong and right.... Fogerty could play several instruments (incl saxophone) when he was about 16 yrs old. In this song he's the sax player. But you are right about one thing. They didnt use saxophone in their songs, only in this one.
My Mom passed away this past Christmas Day. My sister was over helping my Dad do some cleaning and she found a yellow post it note in my Mom's china cupboard with the words "Put a candle in the window
Though I'm going I'll be coming home soon, long as I can see the light"
It took a little searching, but this song is what I found. I love ya muches Mom. Miss ya bad
I chose this song to follow a haiku at my father's funeral in February 2010. When he was a young man my dad was known to do a mean John Fogerty accompanied by his acoustic guitar.
definitelt\y damn blues a it's god damned best. hell yeah! one of the greatest voices in music history n this is one of the greatest songs ever performed
this song reminds makes me think of a soldier serving in some distant land. no matter how far he may travel, as long as his family puts a candle in the window, he'll find his way home
You may not realize it now, but your dad lives on in you. Live your life like he is looking over your shoulder and you cant go wrong. He left you with an awesome song.
so bad to hear that....but your father stills lives....as long as you remember him...you where his light...and it's on you to keep that light alive... :):)

What a great lost 45! I love the Wurlitzer electric piano on this, very rare to hear an ep or a sax for that matter on a CCR hit.
