I started monitoring who has come and gone from my friend list using plusminusfriends com it is a facebook app that monitors changes in your friends list. The first time you go to it it won't do anything but show you your list of friends. If you come back 2 weeks later it will compare your current list of friends and show you the deleted or added facebook friends. It's very basic and works.

freaking awsoem! was thinking of writing the application myself in PHP but didn't know about not all friends appearing on the API. so you saved me a lot of trouble there bro

there was this 'unfriend finder' french dev, i used it in the first half of 2009 ... then it was removed for breaking fb toc ...
Id defo use this app ... even if it would involve:
- setting up external db
- exporting files as csv
- or emailing list after each update
