Unfortunately, in some marriages, one spouse, in order to control the other, looks for his partner's vulnerable places and exploits them like Nurse Ratched in the movie, "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest." He tries to make his partner dependent on him through trying to weaken her.

This is common among spouses with an intense fear of abandonment. Unfortunately, this behavior actually materializes his fears as he drives his partner away through his cruel behavior.

Good advice.

I would, however, like to add a couple items.

1. Some men and some women cannot be 'changed' by anything a spouse can do or say regardless. Its not a good idea to make a woman feel like she CAN always do or say things and that it WILL always work. That sort of reasoning can lead a woman to suicide if she's made to feel its her fault that its not working.

2. Husbands/men need to take RESPONSIBILITY for their own actions and behavior.

Many men wont and that is why marriage fails.

I read her book "Sexless Marriage". It's amazing how well she understands men. She seems to know me better than I know myself. And I bet she has a very satisfied husband. I highly recommend her books.
