Australians dont duck you idiots, look into how the Barren realy died and why he crashed 50mtrs from the Aussies whoshot him down, these guys unlike thier english cousins were shooting for pot as kids,Richtofen died because he broke his own first rule, dont fly low over Australians, they know how to shoot, and unlike thier british cousins dont duck.
die szene ist unlogisch, da die deutschen flugzeuge zu dieser zeit um einiges schneller waren, als ie ihrer feinde, also hätten sie einfach zu den deutschen linien fligen können :D
penetrated in france in daylight honored an enemy, i am impressed. i am not german but it makes me sad when even german people consider german soldier from ww1 and ww2 as monsters. those men fought with dignity and principles.thumbs up for legends.
Imagine a time were opponents still had respect, chivalry and honour.....those must`ve been the days....It was an ugly time for humanity, but in those times, legends are born...Long live the true spirit of humanity, who have in such times, the resilience, strength and will to reach great heights and inspire friends and foes alike...RIP Freiherr Manfred von Richthofen
I would of done the same thing if I would of known who this pilot (?) was. Its called RESPECT. Obviously there something special about this person thats dead.
Ace pilot or put up a fight I dont know.
Skeleteon next to the roundel. LOL
I would of had the HOLY FLAME on mine (Spirit of fire aka HOLY SPIRIT).
@DarkPrinceNH5570 Latter on in the movie like just seconds after this clip ends they are back at their base and they explain that it was a pilot they knew before the war plus was a good friend
I haven't seen this movie when I was 8 years old , but when I was nine I seen this so called "red baron friend and enemy'. but I realized that this thing was epic! Now I kept watching this for months because there was 2 people that created this movie are Dirk reidarft and Stefan Hansen. Those two are the greatest film maker ever!
A bit early in the war for large quantities of SE5's to be dropping out of the skies, isn't it?And I love the Albatros D.III. Richthofen should have just out turned him.
my other Fav. plane is def. The P-51 D Mustang flown quite a few good simulaters from what I've heard @ A few places & if they are accurate as they say they are give me The Albatross plane he painted red, A Fokker Tri-Plane or a P-51 D Mustang with the Merlin V-12 and that will be game over someone will NEED A Missle to take me out
Between this movie and Fly Boys..... why does Hollywood think those old biplanes maneuvered like modern jets? They had dick for speed and would stall out like it was cool if you tried the crap shown in these movies. The victory roll over the church by that one DV.a? Are you kidding me???!!
All the CGI in the world and we still have inaccurate crap like that, dudes flying without goggles (oil anyone?), little to no cold weather clothing... At least the Blue Max had real WW1 replicas.
@MilitantDanny Biplanes were very agile, due to their light design and large amount of wing surface-area, and they were certainly more maneuverable then their WWII counterparts. Many stunt planes today are fiberglass biplanes for the exact same reason.
They actually aren't doing anything super jerky in these scenes, it appears that way from camera angles, and other planes maneuvering messing with your reference points.
@jai030 I second that granted riding in an F-18 was cool but now days all u gotta do is lock on a plane w. a missle and u may be even out of sight when the other guy gets killed didnt even know what hit him it takes the sport out of it & even Manfred said Historically "We Are Sportsmen" to be a good dog fighter w. guns only and manuvers is to have real skill it doesnt take much skill to fire a missle I've riden in a bi plane too the Albatross bi-plane he had it mid movie, was the 1 painted Red
@425jeonsa There has been no such thing as a "gentleman's war". War is hell, it always has been, and always will be. I personally believe it should be fought as brutally as possible so as to bring it to an end as quickly as possible. Only when war is fought as a game or as a means of diplomacy do we get the quagmire of Vietnam and Iraq.
War was escallating, and aerial brutality was escallating. But still, there was a lot of "fairplay" events.
Still this escallation was much smaller on Italian front.
Until the end of war, it was more like fight between knights - errants, or kind of horrific sport, what was noticed by British pilots, wich were a bit surprised with this situation.
@James160029 I agree. I'll admit, there were many times throughout WWI, WWII, and other wars, where enemies did indeed have respect for each other. But no matter where you go, America, Japan, Germany, Australia, Britain, anywhere at all, you will have good, honest, respectable men, and you will indeed also have bad seeds. It's just the way things are.
@James160029 u are right but in a few cases someone did know or respect their opponent The Manfred Von Richtofen was buried with full honors when he was killed.. The Ace Of Aces The Red Baron
@James160029 Brutaly as possble? thats just even worse. well heres from a character from a book called All quite on the western fronts idea on how war should be.
"When ever theres a big war comin' up. they should gather all the generals and the leaders of the war. and then rope of a big chunk of a field and sell tickets. then put them in there underwear and let them battle it out with clubs....may the best country win"
@James160029 While I agree that there is no such thing as a "gentleman's war" and that all war is hell it doesn't mean people should be as brutal and merciless as possible. All that leads to is the dehumanization of the soldiers who fight in it, and if both sides fight brutally then the war will probably still last as long. It is important to encourage humanity in soldiers, because without it their lives as humans on this earth afterward will be over, even if they survive.
I loved the movie! Great soundtrack, Great storyline, Ok acting...exception would be (Lena Headey) She is always brilliant! This scene and this movie shows how great a movie can be with a great soundtrack! Not one word was exchanged in this scene!
