  • Let them know it's still Indian country that the call America.

  • We need a native american for president ! its the indians who are the only rightful rulers of this land

  • who plays the music at the beginning of the video? trying to figure that out

  • I would love to be able to attend this someday. Native pride!!! :)

  • LOVE POW WOWS! I will be attending one next month here is Sacramento and the going to the one in Alcatraz! Love all of my native american brothers and sisters. see you all there!

  • Could anyone be so kind as to tell me who plays the song that begins at 7:06 and who is singing it? Please.

  • Wiga'be so'thom, Grandmother! Come back to me, hurry. This video made me cry. I am 1/4 Pima (Akimel O'odham) of the Gila River Indian Community of Arizona, and it has been over 10 years since I've been able to visit the reservation of my family. I love them dearly and not a day goes by that I don't wish my full-blooded grandmother could come back to me and teach me more about The People.

  • I wished I would have thought of doing this before. YOUR great for posting this. I seen something similiar on PUBLIC TV. it's a great thing to know I used to be a dancer so I know what it takes to go to Pow-wows and compete. It's was a great memory that I have forever!!!

  • Ahe'hee Joaquin Hamilton for heightening the importance of the drums.

  • My favorite part was the song with the eagle.. Awesome.

  • so beautiful that we can all come together and keep our culture and traditions alive

  • is this a short documentary (ie short film?)

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO I CAN WATCH IT A THOUSAND TIMES AND NOT GET TIRED OF IT!!!!!!!! :) :) it bought me to tears wen the group near the end was singing idk y! It just touched me! Does anybody kno who they are?

  • This is beautiful... When the guy said about dancing for those that can't dance, dancing for the handicapped. I remembered my dear Mother and I cried. That is so beautiful, dancing for the handicapped, That touched my soul deeply, Bless and thank you, Eternaly your friend, David ...

  • It's so rare now to come across first nations people that know their native tongue. I met some men a month ago outside an Irish pub and they were Inuit.. They were talking together in their language, I loved it so much, I had to commend them. I hope it doesn't die out like low German and Irish Gaelic.

Thank you for sharing this! :)

  • That is an awesome video! Thank you for sharing it.

  • who was that group at the end with the guitar and what have yous

  • Yeah Albuquerque love!

  • uhh Wakeen Hamilton, there he is

  • someone once told me, " Feel the heartbeat beneath our feet."

  • La nation amérindienne est la nation sacré de notre planéte , quel sacrilége d'avoir massacrer ses peuples qui vivaient en armonie avec notre terre .

  • fun ass pow wow 2 be at

  • Great video!

  • I've been to GON a few times now. I go with my husband who is Tsalagi but I can speak more words than he can.

It is impossible to describe the joy of seeing thousands of Native Americans all in one place.

    Niaweh

  • i ask my mother and weve tread thru some of your ground illiniuos to arizona new mexico wis mon indiana well she remembers the earth with an atmosphere as we do but now we should know that a battle is coming i dont believe you all shopuld be about christians are gonna fight the anti and they cant see what thier standing on or for but good and bad and you should sit back an watch the futball game ow

  • I went to a pow pow before and you can almost hear the Native American pain and history calling thru the drums.

    The outfits were awesome.

  • @Yonah613 Say What? I've gone to powwows my whole life, and it's all fun. The only tragedy I heard there was when someones son had died. You need to go to more, I guess. Don't stereotype us. Geez.

  • @beastshawnee ... my friend I meant it as a compliment that your music is so real and full of life, pride, hope for the future, and history. When they sing its like you can hear the history and the pain of what the Europeans did to them as well as joy and determination for the future. Alot of music of other cultures seems like empty words.

  • Don't ever say that . until you know the history of the other cultures , you can't say something ... , Maya and Aztecs , Inca, people too suffers from the white men take over.

  • Hehe, anyone ever notice how all the announcers sound exactly alike?

  • Sac n Fox All the Way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • guitars? cellos??

  • Great video; it was quite informative.

  • And the Beat goes on for my people! Pride! The Gathering of Nations is held in Albequerqe, NM every April! It is the most fun I have ever had at a powwow! There is nothing more joyfull than seeing so many people like myself at one place because unless you live on a reservation, we are few between all the others who came to our continent.

  • Beautiful! Great video. 5+

  • i love pow wow's..their the best....especially the drummers...brings out the native in you...the dancers make it more beautiful.....

  • im from burnt church..NEW BRUNSWICK....pow wow's are the best...brings out the native in you...im also a micmac native......the best...

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • What breaks my heart the most..is that though I am white I still have 2 tribes in my blood, and yet I am discriminnated against on ALL sides. Those who look more native american look at me with disdain...it breaks my heart that we, as earth's children, cannot coexist like we are supposed to.

  • You're just like a half-elf in fantasy world. Both races, elves and human, hate them. But... isn't the spirit most important?

  • haha wahkeen...

  • the Mexican president stated that OUR native american land is theirs!!!! The mexican president wants more illegal mexicans to come here and NOT pay taxes....taxes which goes to our native american funding, education, and healthcare. Apprently the Mexican government wants to take away our lively hood....welost our land before...lets not let it happen agian. Say NO to illegal imigration. Our Native American future is at stake.

  • Whats up with the guitar music?

    David Mahpiya Ska Burkhart

  • I love the Gathering of Nations!

I've been going every year since I was 5!

    :o)

  • Wonderful film. I loved everything about it. Music...dance...and all...I want to go to Gathering of the Nations one day...

  • this is great! where did you film this? in LA?

  • Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2004. That's where the Gathering is held each year though.

  • @froach85 around what time of the year do they have it Id like to go.

  • @froach85 aren't there more than one gathering of nations? because the one i've been to is in wisconsin. it may just be the midwest nations... either way frybread express was there and i ate SO MUCH! :3

  • A really nice film but somehow the Spanish guitar music (Cavatina??) just doesn't seem to fit at the beginning. Especially when you consider what the Spanish did to many First Nationals ..! But wonderful colours and sounds ... really makes me wish I could visit in person ..

  • Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment. I was really happy with how everything turned out (colors and all) considering it was all done on an old Hi-8 camera. The opening song is by Gabriel Ayala and it was recorded live at the event :-/
