  • Just a quick question what open notes have you tuned this cigar box

  • @WetCoastRock when I did the vid it was tuned A,E,A ...It has D,G and B strings on, and I tune it anywhere beetwen about open F,G up to open C

  • @bemuzic Thanks for the tuning data...I have been enjoying the building process but before I make another one I am trying to learn how to play...I have been trying different tunings to see if one may be easier than another..I also have a Roland Micro amplifier but I cannot duplicate the sound you can get...the pickup must make a huge differance to the sound I expect...the next build I want to try a piezeo.

  • @WetCoastRock sounds like your having fun! I think if you want the old Delta Blues sort of sound a piezo would be better. The sound on this guitar has a lot do do with John's building as well!!

He does a DVD on building CBG's. If you're interested search Red Dog Guitars on Google to find his website. I think the DVD is right down the bottom somewhere....

  • cool

  • @bluejay148 thanks

  • Summer time

  • top sounds be , you is ace babe.......

  • @philjit1 : -)

  • b u is ace , 60s acid , wow . lol..

  • b u is ace ,

  • Love that sound! What amp are you using?

  • @jollypaulroger cheers. I'm just using a Roland Microcube

  • what strings do you use on this 3 string cbg?

  • @rocaman04 I have the D,G and B strings from a normal set of guitar strings...not sure what sort they are as they're just what was on it when I got it. Think they're light gauge : -)

  • @bemuzic thanks :)

  • Sounds lovely,nice playing:)

  • @TEXMEXY thanks..think the nice sound has more to do with the guitar than my playing, lol!

  • I'm building one now! I've always wanted to start playing guitar again, And this is so old-fashioned I have to try it!!

  • @Aweber87 good luck!...put a video on when it's done : -)

  • hey im currently planning out building one how wide do u usualy make ur necks

  • @pkalldayful well I've only actually made one CBG myself and that was a two stringer with a very narrow neck! Check out the cigarboxnation site.....lots of helpful people who know loads more than me about building than I do : -)...good luck with yours!!

  • @bemuzic alrigth thank you very much

  • that is awesome.

  • @jonnysaintly thanks : -)

  • John makes them look so neat! You're really good at picking up tunes btw.

  • @Django5198 yeah John is a GREAT builder!!..and thanks re the tunes : -)

  • sounds great!

  • @wwvine2 thanks, mmm I'm SO pleased with it...makes me feel good inside to play it : -)

  • I had a drummer ask me why guitar players all have so many different guitars, the best I could come up with was its like a rainbow you get a different color with each guitar.

  • @FuzzysCBG nice one...I'll tell my daughter that next time she asks me why I've got ANOTHER one!!

  • John builds beautiful and great sounding guitars, have fun.

  • @FuzzysCBG yeah I'm having fun with all my CBG's...must STOP buying them and get on with playing them!!!

  • love the delay space jam

  • @rebob59 thanks Bob, yeah I think that's my favourite bit too : -)

  • Great examples ! I need to finish mine, it makes me seriously want!

  • @ukeattitude cheers: -)...are you making a 3 string?

  • Sounds and looks good - looks as though the strings are wider apart than my version - interesting to see how you get on with it

  • @MrRandomWritings thanks...oooh my reply is too long, I'll message you!

  • Great range of music. I particularly enjoyed the first segment - very lonesome sound.

  • @wwvine2 cheers : -)

  • Very cool. . .the reverb on the first part makes it sound real swampy

  • @StoweTexas cheers, that's what I was going for : -)

  • Very nice CBG and nice playing !!

  • @franky58j thanks...mmm its a beautiful guitar!!

  • Nice you show the versatility of the instrament

  • @TheDarwin1564 thanks, that's what I was going for : -)

  • Beautiful guitar! sounds great! Do you use a pedal?

  • @Django5198 thanks!...on the first bit I just used some reverb on the amp (Roland Microcube) on the second bit I turned the reverb off and had it clean, on the 3rd bit I used a Boss OS2 Overdrive/distortion pedal, and on the last bit I used a Behringer Multi-Fx pedal (FX100) set to delay...hope that helps : -)

  • @bemuzic aha you bought the pedal then! Fun isn't it?

  • AWESOME Guitar and AWESOME playing!!!! congrats!!!!

  • @purplamazon thanks for the comment!!

  • pround papa I am!!!

  • @johnmcnair lol, thanks John!!

  • wonderful sound

  • @anukittta thanks again!

  • Sounds pretty good to me.

  • @TK42138 thanks TK...the guitar is good, it's me that's the problem,lol

  • @bemuzic

I think you're better than you realise. I'm still struggling with scales despite years of owning a guitar. I should really practice every day but I don't.

  • @TK42138 well cheers...I've found playing these cigar box guitars with just 3 or 4 strings in open tunings really refreshing ...you can forget about the rules and just have some fun!!
