1" of shell for 10 water gallons, not tank gallons. the smallest turtles can stay in that tank. consider life in an elevator with 5 other people. you can take a few steps here or there. but, you can't ever leave. this filter is designed for 15gallons water (30 gal tank). all the misinfo out there leads most of people astray and Im sure you love your turtles! wetwebmedia is a great source!
