  • in jamaica during colonization most of the tainos were killed .however we still incorperate their practices especially their food. in jamaica many inter-mixed with the africans, so unfortunately we do not have pure tainos. despite that, its apart of our culture that we love and embrace and the story of the arawak indians/ tainos are taught in school till this day. in jamaica we will never forget the arawaks.

  • @malave31 You're full of shit. Where is this Taino reservation you speak of? And there are no more full-blooded Tainos, which makes them extinct!

  • @malave31 What does 100% puerto rican mean, considering the natives were the Tainos who are now extinct, and modern puerto rico is multi-racial and most puerto ricans are thoroughly mixed?

  • has kinky hair thats what i met

  • im haitian but my grandma lok like a mexican olive skin and lined up cheek bones weird right? but she haad kinky hair

  • Sebastian be educational in expressing yourself, this is wrong show proper communication, thank you.

  • All i hear is the Tainos, But what about the Caribes? who were fearsome people and even columbus fear them. The Caribes practiced cannibalism and use to hunt down the tainos. I would like to hear something about them.

  • For the love of god.....CAN YOU GUYS ACKNOWLEDGE THAT PUERTO RICANS ARE NOT THE ONLY TAINOS AROUND. THEY CAME FROM DOMINICAN REPUBLIC AS WELL. Christopher Columbus first invaded the land of Espanola, which is now called Dominican Republic.

  • AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET US FREE

  • cool natives

  • my great grandmother and her ancesors are tainos so im am part taino but from the land of santo domingo.

  • amazingly enough i was on L.T.Tribes site,,and they are hostile toward D.N.A. research although they rely heavily on Dr. Cruzados' D.N.A. work..... ironic... because the sephardic D.N.A. in these same peoples produced a 70% patrochondrial result.. so if they are 60% tainoin mitochondria , then they are also overlayed with 70% hebrew,, bunch of jibaro hebrews!!!

  • The old theories are being discarded and the complexity of the Taino people is becoming clearer wth science.DNA

DNA is showing that 61% of people in Puerto Rico are showing indian haplogroups through hte mother side. The opposite side of this coin is that almost NO indian is showing through the father side. Through the father side the iberian celtic (Spanish) shows in over 72% of the people tested the rest are African.

THUS the ideas of Tainos extinct or pure Tainos rediscovered are both false

  • why not give the Spanish and Church, a little conquistedor action. fair is fair

  • Time to stop calling the people 'Indians". Columbus had to lie to get coninued funding. People from India are Indians. Original peoples from the Americans are Americans. All others are theives or squatters.

  • @johntomp1 they're not even americans, that was the name of a european man who also went to the land which we now call america.

  • taino are still alive there puertoricans if you were born in the us or puertorico

  • Puerto Rico should be granted U.S. Statehood but all Puerto Ricans who can prove at least 25% native genes should be considered Native Americans and be allowed to form their own tribal government and be given ownership of a fair share of the ancestral lands.

  • @ANT6184 HA HA,.. ROFL

  • Why are people insisting that the Taino's are dead because there are no pure blood Taino's left and most of our culture was lost?

The fact is our mothers were raped our fathers were killed and we were forced to assimilate Spanish customs. Then we were further exploited by the U.S. for sugar production, military support, strategic naval position etc.

  • Who ever said you had to be a pure blood descendant of the Taino's to be considered a Taino?

Many main land Natives are mixed race and you don't have to be pure blood to be recognized as a member of a tribe by the council or the Feds.

  • what are you talking we are right here!!!!!

  • The Taino are still in existence. My great grandmother was full blood Taino. We are still here - I am proof of that!

  • i say if you are born in the island your taino there were the first and it doesnt matter the color puerto rico is boriquen were all tainos and we must get our tradition back to the way it was it was never called puerto rico is boriquen and i was born in boriquen i say im boricua and proud to be taino the taino named the island and it should be respect for what it is and remember enrique (rebellion) he survived they just try to miss us up for us not learn about who we realy are

  • The tainos did had a language.

  • IM SORRY TO SAY THIS BUT THERE'S NO TAINO INDIANS THAT ARE PURE THAT'S WHY THE PUERTORICAN RACE IS MADE OF THREE RACES MIXED AFRICAN(SLAVES BROUGHT FROM AFRICA) TAINO INDIAN AND SPANISH THAT'S WHY WE HAVE PEOPLE AS TEGO CALDERON AND WHITE PEOPLE LIKE HECTOR LAVOE .....

  • @Catanito1979 the only way you are a taino if you speak arawakan

  • I hope Puerto Rico or the United States let Tainos have a reservation someday

  • Taino's STAND UP !!

  • FUCK YES. IM CUBAN WOOOT

  • i guess they arent lost puerto ricans are still here!!! im still here so its not lost

  • i'm alive.....

  • there still are full blooed Tainos and most are in puetro ricao thats lie to say we're not thats just B.S

  • Que chorro de buconoes acomplejado. No saben quienes son sus padres pero ahora"son" tainos.Isn't odd that these tainos are all from the Bronx? Oh please! Spit on these fake tainos.

FACT:there were NO mammals from which to make these FAKE loin cloths

FACT:there were NO peacock feathers either because there were NO peacocks!

    FACT:REAL tainos were NAKED!

    How do you spell:

    TAX-FREE CIGARETTES & ALCOHOL

    TAX-FREE CASINOS

What a pile of opportunist junk history. Just had to be nuyoricans.

  • @SebastianQuinsella nop half naked we had taparrabos im from san juan pr and im taino, italian, african and spanish. yeah im a mut but i claim taino not puerto rican.

And for your information...you can claim to be a chupacabra too but that doesn't make you one.

  • @SebastianQuinsella siempre hay un dome puta bitch ass evidioso ass need a zanax dont got a life type asshole talking shit about tainos. mmmmm i wonder y? i know u do bcause ur bunig with hate inside. let it consume u. peace out bitch.

  • I don't trust any of these people that sit infront of the camera and read from a script. I don't care if he is my own blood. I see them as a traitor for money. Look at all these documentories they all do the same thing. Your better off learning the truth from cartoons. I know who I am and I know the history all the way back from Adam. This is our history who these devils try to steal from us. They think half the truth will keep you happy enough to by a tributary nation.

  • We are the biggest nation and our people are as numerous as the sand of the sea. Deuteronomy 7:6

  • i'm Taina but from the land of dominican republic my family members are natives but like the guy said many of us intermarried there no true blood native. But my family has kept tradition alive for so many years, my dad only knows little the arawakian language because his father knew little as well. But we have kept tradition alive and i believe we should be recongizied.

  • The Tainos are still alive in our Puerto Rican culture our food our blood in my Father's and Mother's side of the family strong indigenous Taino blood is in me.

  • the core of a pure puerto rican is taino [INDIAN],dont say we are white lol or any other race its not fair that since spain invaded us we are ignorantly called caucasian, never forget indians (TAINO) greeted the spanish.

  • if it werent for spain u would be you and only a true taino and full blooded one should speak how u speak u clearly arent

  • A mis lectores.

  • Check out the United Confederation of Taino People if you would like more information on what is going on in the Taino Community...

  • I would like to express my opinion on all this. I am an Arubian, and I can relate to the Taino community in Hispaniola and Puerto Rico. Both of my grandmothers were half-blooded Amerindians, and one of my great grandfathers was a curandero who serviced the whole island. I grew up with animistic values, and the sories. Our native culture is allive as well. But even from within our community there is bias and bigotry, calling us wannabes.

  • But taino indian did not have natural immunity to European/Africa disease wouldn't you guys be much weaker than those direct descended of European or Africa?

  • In my case...My grand grand Mother from my Mom's side was from Spain. From my father's side, my grand grand Mother came from the Island of St. Croix to work in the sugar cane plantations in Puerto Rico...My grandma, for that time, was a child, posibly 9 yrs old. So she was took to work as a servant in the Big House or "Hacienda" where the americans, owners of the plantations lived.

  • When the spaniards arrived to the Island, the tainos where there. You can find people with taino physical caracteristics in the center of the Island like Aibonito, Ciales, Maunabo. Oh my God I was impressed.! Loiza...african heritage is so strong. Spanish heritage..I can say more to the Coast.

  • yeah i saw a picture of a taina she her nose looked very much like mine :)

  • Hi :)

My Father is Taino:) If you see him he look like an Indian.

He was born in Loiza Aldea:) I was born there to but then I was raised here in Boston.

  • He said the Spanish brought Indians to Puerto Rico. Maybe that's true. I've never heard it. But however, I have heard that Indians from South America (Arawak), Mexico (Mayans), and Florida (forget the name) migrated to PR at some point and basically came to be who we know as Tainos.

  • the tainos still exist , their origins begun in venezuela. the arawach tribe!

  • Many descendents of the island of Puerto Rico have Taino blood

But there are no pure (100%) Tainos left!

    Mixed? Yes!!

  • @chasmcrown YES

  • How can someone be so ignorant to even say that no Tainos exist. There are always descendants, and expect to find them spread over many countries. It's called survival, people move.

  • lol. That's true, but puerto rico is 100 x 35 and survival becomes harder when the only place you have to live and eat is where u could become a slave as well. Spanish climb the highest montains of puerto rico and build some "faros" there to have a paronamic view of the area. So is hard to move when you are being watch from every spot of the island.g without a supermarket like we have in a land like this.

  • Dear relative in response to your comment. Most of the roads in PR were built by the Americans not the Spanish. In many parts, the forest were almost inpenetrable until the 1900s . An official Spanish census says that in 1797 just two years from the 1800s there were 4,000 full bloods in the Indieras from Maricao. It also mentions another group of the same size in Anasco. Not to mention the 35,000 Pardos

  • If any Hispanics wanna know the real truth according to the Bible Go on my channel watch All the videos on,"who is Esau in the Bible"Then watch "Hebrew Israelites" All parts 1-5 Then Click on another video called Hispanics are Israelites/

Shalom so called Hispanics and negros who are Gods true ppl according to the Bible

  • very intersting comment

  • Whiteman telling lies again, why dont they tell the truth like how the so called tainos spoke HEBREW and are apart of the 12 Tribes of Israel bet these devilish crackers wont tell that

  • The Spain Cedula de Gracia allowed:Corsicans,German, and Irish to migrate to Puerto Rico during the colonial times to boost the economy.

  • I probably have a little bit of Taino blood in me. That would be because not only was my family Dominican, we have some French blood, and Spanior Blood. Also I'm part Indian and Arabic because of my dad. Though my mom says that we are, I have a little doubt. Though being part of an ethnic culture is to share interests and life styles. Then there comes sub-cultures. So I'd say there are Taino people but not pure blooded ones.

  • SilentShadowsofDeath, holy shit. You have the same combination as I do lol I'm Dominican too and my Father side is full white (all his family is Spaniard) and my mother side is Spaniard, French, Taino, and Arabic. I didn't know any other Dominican with that similar mix. Either way, I agree with you, I doubt they are any full blooded Natives there anymore.

  • By the way, its a pity to see CrashArtSkillz babbling about Hebrew bullshit and talking about "devilish crackers." Go back to robbing the corner liquor store.

  • Thats cool. I was very shocked that only time my mom ever mentioned me having taino chraits was one random day when I was twelve. Before I knew I was very inspired by the culture of native people.

  • Yeah I found that out a little later. Since I grew an interest in my genealogy and knew very well that people from the Caribbean had a varying ancestry depending on their family.

  • do u know what part arabic ur ancestors is from?

  • Well I'm only 6.25% Arabic lol And from what I have heard it came from Lebanon. That would also make sense since there is a small Lebanese population in DR. Most of my ancestry is Southern European though, so I don't know too much about the Arab or Taino side.

  • It is time to fight against this name that constitutes a serious injustice against these people, recognized as martyred, and a violation of the right of Haitian and Dominican people to their common Taino heritage.

"Quisqueya" recalls Taino culture whereas "Hispaniola" recalls the Amerindian genocide.

  • We have always and will always be here in spite of asshole like this one projecting the colonialistic agenda> scientific prove beyond DNA! what more proof does this asshole need! he would rather we assume the invented personality called "Puerto Rican!"

There are african descendents in Borinquen as well as descendents of Europeans and Tainos! There are also an infinite mixture of the 3, however, the ruling class tend to be white and ID as such! Uncle Toms come in all shades!

  • This man uses maybe so much that it stresses doubt that Taino blood still flows in the majority of Boricua people. The test have proven that the Taino population passed thier blood to the point that 61% have Taino DNA. The studies have been completed and if you read them you will see that it is mostly Taino and not Native from other parts of the America. We are Tainos who's mothers mixed with Europeans and African males for the most part.

  • correct but to me that number is higher then 61 percent to me like 70 % taino, many taino woman were mixed bye force bye spainsh and african bye "force" I don't believe bye love as the taino woman had no choose, as many taino man were killed, but I still believe that there were some taino man alive and tainas married them and many puertorican have more taino blood then 61 percent in my opinon, my family from santurce and many there are mixed with african and taino froming tregeno with good hair!

  • 61% does not mean the percentage each person has in his blood. It means that out of every hundred persons 61 to 62 are of direct descendants from a Native American Woman via the mother's side. How much Taino blood depends on the level of mixing in the family line. That's another DNA test the measures the ammount, it's callan autosomal test. I had mine done and I'm 1/4 Native American Taino.

  • And whats the other 3/4? Out of curiosity.

  • 1/2 European,1/4 African . The MDNa is Holpo group A . Taino on the mother's side.

  • Oh ok. And what exactly do you look like the most out of the three groups? And one more thing, what compelled you to get examined?

  • As to looks that is very objective. I've been asked if I'm from India, Cuba, Egypt, Venezuela, Native American or even Arab. I took the test because our family oral history says we have Native American blood and I wanted to know if there was proof of this. I honor all three bloods. But the Taina ties me to Boriken back to 8,000 years according to the report on my mother's side and that is where I was born.

  • Wow you have you ancestry down to the letter lol That's very interesting information. I'm glad to see that some Hispanics from the Caribbean care about their origins. Its quite sad to see when you ask certain Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, or Cubans their race and they say "Hispanic." People need to realize that we have varying origins and are not some uniform collective mass of people to be all categorized as such. Anyways thanks for sharing that.

  • your*

  • I think I could have a high percent of taino blood as I mention before my famliy is from santurce PR, thanks for the info, you know I have thought about getting one of those test I think I will this year...

  • no there are taino pepole im am taino so is my father and his father and past on generation

  • Clearly DriveFan1 is not an educated person.

  • hes ignorant, hes slow,i bet his parents r brother and sister, lmao!.hes just a dumb white trash who lives in the trailer park and bang his kins 4 good, lmao!.

    fuck him!

  • @myangelc02 same here!

  • @myangelc02 true people say, spanish, italian, french, wiped them out, they did but alot of the whites raped tainos women. people are misunderstanding our culture

  • That is only on certain Islands. The Arawak Indians are all wiped out in Jamaica but on the other Islands like puerto rico there are many Taino.

  • not really b/c i met the taina jamaican girl an other day and i was tryna 2 speak spanish 2 her and she said "i dont speak spanish, only english, sorry" and i asker where shes from and she told me shes from jamaica and i was shocked b/c she looked mexican and i asker her "r u of taino ancestry"?b/c u look like my people" and she said yes and then we both talking about native people in the americas and we both broke it down 2 eachother but i had fun with her.

  • @DriverFan1 thats not true puertoricans are tainos so get it right ps sorta of true

  • Today's Taino have me and the other Saponi/Manahoac tribe's Collins descendant's support 100 percent.
